According to Empreinte’s bra and panty fitting specialist Josie-Anne Le Diouron, certain panty bottoms work better with certain body shapes. We interviewed Josie- Anne about the different bottoms styles available at Empreinte and how they enhance each body form differently. Empreinte has four options, which are the Shorty, Brief, Panty and Thong.
What bottoms work best on each body type?
The Shorty: This shape is great to highlight a defined waist and smooth hips curves, which makes it a good match for hourglass and pear shapes.

How do you determine what type one is?
To determine what type one is, you want to look at shoulder, waist, and hip widths. When the shoulder width is similar to the hips width with a very defined waist, the shape is called hourglass or 8 shape. When the hip-width is larger than the shoulder width, we have a pear shape. When the middle area is fuller, the shoulder rather broad, and the hips slightly narrower than the middle, we have an apple shape. When the shoulder width is similar to the hip width with a waist that is not very defined, we have a straight shape.

How does one care best for one’s bottoms so that they last longer?
When it comes to bottoms with luxurious materials and special finishes (with beadings, charms, and fine lace for example), we recommend washing by hand and air drying.
The first step is to soak the garments in lukewarm water with mild detergent. The second step is gently to rub to remove any stain then rinse. To remove excess water avoid twisting the garments. Finally, lay flat to dry on a towel. In last resort, if you have no time to wash your fine lingerie by hand, you can use the washing machine on a cold/delicate cycle; however, when doing so, we strongly recommend putting the bottoms in a mesh bag and wash with similar colors. Lastly, never put them in the dryer as it is very likely to damage the delicate fabrics, elastics and any special trims.
