Escape to Relaxation at The Green Mountain Inn

Vermont is not just for skiing, and The Green Mountain Inn, in Stowe is the perfect vacation spot for anyone who wants to escape from stress and enjoy mountain views and wholesome air — any time of year. If you want an intimate, friendly inn with old world charm, this is the place. Whether you ski or not, the location is perfect because you can wander around the picturesque town and go to the spa and relax.

Located right in the town, within walking distance to restaurants and shops, the Green Mountain Inn has old world style accommodations that are fully renovated. There are rooms in the main building as well as suites in fully renovated buildings that look like houses, located separately from the main Inn. We stayed in a suite with two bedrooms and a jetted tub that was in the master bedroom, along with the four-poster bed and fireplace. I confess that I enjoyed more than one time in the oversized jetted tub that easily fits two people. Bubbles, of course.

It was hard to pry myself away from the tub, but I also took advantage of the spa at Stowe Village Massage, located in a small house on the grounds of the Inn. The massage was one of the best I have ever had. My masseuse, Mia, was incredible, and came highly recommended by a guest who had just had a massage. Mia more than lived up to the praise. I chose the Relaxation Massage, and before she began, Mia asked questions regarding any areas she should concentrate on or be careful of. The massage included essential oils and relaxed me so much that I almost fell asleep. It’s so nice to walk out of the spa and just see mountains and quaint buildings that help extend your relaxed mood.

After the spa you can amble around the town and shop or sit in a coffee shop and soak in the Stowe hospitality. Once back in your room you can sit by the fire and continue to enjoy the stress-free environment. It won’t hurt to take a jetted tub bath before heading to dinner.

There are ample spots to eat dinner in Stowe but be sure to try The Whip Bar & Grill at the Green Mountain Inn. The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable. We really enjoyed the warm and relaxed atmosphere, with a fireplace and large windows.

If you visit next winter, see the ski slopes even if you’re not an avid skier. For future reference: there is a free shuttle that makes stops going up to Mansfield Mountain and Spruce Peak. There is a lot going on at Spruce Peak besides skiing. There is ice skating and there are shops and restaurants to hang out in and enjoy the scenery. Being that high up really made us feel like being on top of the world. It was nice to be able to visit the bustling slopes and come back to the coziness of the Green Mountain Inn.

Visit the Green Mountain Inn during any season for an escape that truly feels like another world.
