Plump, Glowing Skin With Glamsquad At Carlisle Collection NYFW F/W 2018

Models are trudging to show after show for the entire duration of fashion week, and it’s a job all on its own to manage looking good despite such a grueling schedule. Backstage at Carlisle Collection, Glamsquad’s Kelli J Bartlett was leading a skin-forward makeup look that anyone could easily create at home, early 20s skin or not.

Skin was prepped with layers of products that pertained to the skin needs of each model, Bartlett noting that this is like saturating the skin for maximum plump and dewiness. Since plump and soft skin is hard to come by in the winter, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream was deployed judiciously, with Victoria Beckham Morning Aura Illuminating Creme on the high planes of the cheekbones. This skin prep with a light shimmer in the VB started the foundation for Bartlett’s multi tonal highlight technique.

Rather than coat the entire face in a single product, each item was dispensed where needed, built upon and layered with other products to create a very dimensional look that lacks that uninformed highlight and contour we’ve become so accustomed to. This makeup technique ensures that each model’s face shape and bone structure come into play for a truly one of a kind finish. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer was dabbed on with a Beauty Blender only where needed, with a light contour using Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand. Powder was only used on the under- eye area and jawline, and only just before the catwalk.

With curled lashes, nude lips, and brushed up brows, each model gleamed with health and light, ready for the big moment. Because Glamsquad sponsors the show outright, artists like Bartlett are able to mix and match product lines, which is maximally effective in the hunt for the best and most natural looking makeup. At Carlisle Collection, the skin-like finishing was really the focus of the backstage beauty technique, and it showed in the glow.
