I love a good lotion, but In the past couple of years I have truly pivoted from my ‘buy anything, try anything’ attitude to be more conscious and intentional with what I put on my skin. I mean that in terms of ingredients but also how the product feels and especially smells since I have a lot of scent sensitivities. One product I have found to be an absolute game changer is Cake Beauty, specifically the Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream Collection. Formulated and manufactured in Canada, this small box set includes four, 60mL tubes in the following scents: lemon&cream, strawberry&cream, vanilla&cream, and coconut & cream.
This is not your average hand cream. Furthermore, it isn’t limited to putting on your hands (I use it everywhere!). I love how thick and luxurious these lotions feel, and you only need to use a bit of product to reap the benefits. They have a subtle aroma that mixes well with the skin’s natural oils, settling naturally. There is no ‘weird overpowering scent concoction’ that results because god forbid you put it on and then start to sweat while out living your life. This makes it perfect for hot summer nights where you want a subtle ‘scent touch up’ but don’t want to smell like you bathed in it. The bottles are small and easy to carry/ stash in a purse which I really appreciate. I have even gone as far as to empty a small amount into a tiny individual container so I can keep it on me almost always (even in my pocket or clutch). Using this product feels like a ritual. It is soft, easily spreadable, and smells wonderful. It can also be layered with other lotions to add to the effect (I enjoy using the vanilla & cream one with my main body lotion which is scented with orange essential oils). This combo reminds me of what a creamsicle would smell like… if it had a smell! Yum!
Overall, I feel like the Cake Beauty line literally takes the cake for many reasons. It is certified cruelty-free and vegan by PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies and provides great value for anyone who wants some variety but is also sensitive to scents (like me!). Lastly, for those thinking of Christmas gifts (I know… it’s early), it is the perfect size to be a cute stocking stuffer. When I use this lotion, I not only feel good about the product and how it feels, but I feel good about using something that doesn’t hurt animals either. Needless to say, this is and will be my go-to lotion for a while.
