Festivals to Front Row: My Fashion Favorites Ahead of NYFW

With New York Fashion Week coming up, I’ve been reflecting on what I wore this summer. What really stood out? Not just that, but fall is right around the corner; leaves start to change color, the weather gets a bit crisper, and we switch from bathing suits to cardigans. However, some clothes are flexible to be worn during both summer and fall. Today, we’re going to highlight the best of the best clothes I discovered this summer and am going to take into the next season.

Durango – Shyloh Cowboy Boots

How did you spend your summer? Like many others, I attended music festivals. And one thing I think of wearing to a music festival is a classic cowboy boot. Durango is innovative for its sleek design and lightweight feel for an otherwise heavy pair of boots. With me to The Governor’s Ball back in June came the Shyloh boots. An instant standout when surveying their website, the Shyloh’s are sleek, structured, and extremely flexible with any festival or party outfit. Not to mention, they were worn by the male dancers on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter Tour. No, I’m not joking. The crowd favorite of my outfit (I received many compliments on these, specifically), the Shylohs are a fitting boot to be worn all year round. Shop for your own pair on their official website.

Fabletics

There’s a reason Fabletics is a fan favorite when it comes to athleisure. Every product is highly functional, long lasting, and made for every part of the activity spectrum. I was thrilled to be sent a few of their classic pieces.

The Year Round Terry Cropped Full-Zip Hoodie, as the name suggests, is fit for any time of year. Even throughout the summer, I had it on hand at all times if I wanted to cover myself from the sun, or experience a random sun shower on the streets of Manhattan. My, perhaps favorite item from this whole list, the cropped part of the hoodie fits around my waist perfectly, and compliments whatever I’m wearing below, whether it be the matching Year Round Terry Short or a pair of jeans, this hoodie has more than exceeded my expectations.

Looking to protect yourself from the sun but not feel hot? The Long Sleeve Rashguard Swim Top is seriously the perfect choice. Compressive and breathable, I truly love that I can wear this shirt in so many contexts; to the beach, on a run, or with ripped jeans for a casual look. I received this in both black and a Lisa Leo, an animal-like pattern that brings a fun element to the workout. As someone that is new to yoga and pilates, this will be my go-to top.

Living in New York, it’s really easy to get your steps in. But, what you wear to get those steps matters. My second favorite Fabletics item is definitely the Sun Chaser Shorts in black. If you’re having a sticky afternoon, your butt will certainly be thankful you have these on. The elastic waistband and tight but comfy fabric keep me comfortable for literal hours, and have accompanied me not only on the treadmill, but all over New York and beyond. ASOS DESIGN

ASOS holds hundreds of brands to choose from – Nike, The North Face, Free People, and so many more. However, one of the most slept-on is their in-house brand, ASOS DESIGN. It’s known for putting its own spin on current trends, and has some hidden gems consumers may miss if they don’t know to look for them. For example, the Denim Western Jacket (Midwash Blue) is exactly what I was looking for when I was trying to find a solid denim jacket for the upcoming cooler months. With structured seams, snap-button closures, and an intentionally boxy fit, it reimagines the traditional trucker jacket with a fashion-forward twist. I can’t wait to wear this every weekend of October.

I love jeans, but jeans don’t always love me. Either too loose around the waist or too tight around the legs, it’s always a struggle to find the perfect pair. And, I must say, the ASOS DESIGN high rise barrel leg jeans in light mid blue have been worn almost every day. Single. Day. They fit me perfectly and don’t need a belt to do so. I’m truly obsessed. Extremely versatile, and can be worn all day without having that “oh, I’m wearing uncomfortable jeans,” thought. I will certainly be coming back for more.

Lastly, no transitional wardrobe is complete without a great pair of boots. The heeled Chelsea boots from ASOS DESIGN hit all the marks: supple black leather, a sharply pointed toe, and a block heel that adds height without sacrificing stability. My 25th birthday shoes (along with the barrel jeans), I danced the night away and felt confident doing so. These boots dress up denim instantly, but they’re equally strong styled under skirts or trousers. The pointed toe sharpens the look, making them feel elevated and polished. They’re the anchor to all the oversized, boxy silhouettes we’ll be wearing this fall — sleek, structured, and undeniably multifaceted. You can shop everything ASOS Design on their official website.
