The Holiday season is here, and it’s the best time to don we now our glam apparel. When else would we find the excuse to wear full sequin dresses? For all types of events, we’ve got something for you.
From casual to office party – a ribbed black dress adds weight and texture to a your typical LBD. A midi dress also fits the perfect length. Maxi dresses work better for galas and a mini works best for the club. For the best of both, go midi. The midi allows a sophisticated, mature look and if it is a body con dress, the cloth hugging your curves will look incredibly sexy.
My picks for this are the Lena dress from LSPACE and the Minx Midi in Cherry from Nookie.
The Lena Dress has a cute front button enclosure that creates a sexy cutout shape. The dress has a wonderful weighty fabric with a ribbed texture that’s incredibly fitting for the cold season. The short sleeves are perfect for a feminine look for people who run hot. It’s just covered enough for a family gathering and can be a great option for an office party, holiday party at a friend’s house, or a dinner date. Casual, classy, and covered just enough with a feminine cheeky flair, the Lena dress is definitely ribbed for her pleasure.
Want more sexy? A deep V going down your torso is a great way to add allure and sex appeal. The Minx Midi comes in four colors: black, cherry ( red) ), electric pink and white, but I say go for the red. It’s bright, bold, and will capture everyone’s attention. The deep-V made of thin mesh is situated between a carefully tailored bodice creating THE perfect shape. The scuba crepe fabric is thick enough to hold all of you in place, hugging all your curves and making others want to hug you, too.
For those who want something a little more covered up in front, don’t worry – sexy doesn’t always require cleavage. Slow-fashion, luxury brand Gaala hosts a wide variety of tasteful, gorgeous dresses, but their Roslin dress is one of my favorites. It comes in a beautiful forest green A-line dress. It’s sophisticated, classic European style meets a breathtaking open back style. And I don’t know about you, but for those ladies out there who work out those shoulder blades, an open back is one of the sexiest styles I’ve ever seen on apparel.
But let’s say we want to go mini? It’s the club, it’s the evening night out, the dance party holiday extravaganza. A quick way to look like a million bucks is to go for leather looks. It exudes a quiet sense of power, dominance and style. The Rebel Mini comes in black, lilac, baby pink and tan. I personally love the tan color and pairing it with some big golden hoops. Because in Brooklyn, girls with big hoops give off big d- energy, and that’s how I’m going into any holiday party I enter this season.
But no holiday dress list is possible without mentioning sequins. Sequins are the shiny things that give me purpose in life and the holiday season is one of the few times where everyone can feel free to rock one without feeling out of place. My two favorite picks this season are the Nookie’s Fantasy Long Sleeve Mini and the Luma Mini. Yes, both of these are minis and probably not a good to wear for family friendly events. But let me explain to you why I love these two dresses.
The Fantasy is a “wrap-style”, long sleeved dress that features a deep-V, slight shoulder pads and comes in a whopping seven colors: black, emerald, fuschia, purple, gold, toffee and silver. The deep-V is perfect for accentuating what God gave you and the padded shoulders give off boss-b energy. These would work well with semi-transparent or black tights if you feel the need to layer and the materials feels thick and weighty. No, your dress won’t rip and dissolve after one wear.
The Luma Mini is for the sweetie-pie that’ll make you cry. This sparkling sequin mini dress features a high-neck halter with long ribbon ties. The halter is secured by buttons on the collar so that if your faux ties come undone your top won’t fall down. Especially in my favorite rose gold color, this dress is gorgeous, feminine and flashy. My favorite aspect is taking those ties and making a little bow. I would recommend this with your hair put up to really show that bow off. This dress is perfect for the subtle cutie that looks like a present. Except no one knows what lies beneath the bow but you.
Not all shimmer needs to tie you up from head to toe though. To feel sleek, tight, and wielding of a wicked bite, Ruby Ribbon holds you close in their shimmering Sleek Shape Tank. Made of nylon and spandex, this choice piece is a triple threat this holiday season acting as moisture wicking shape-wear and being a stylish, glimmering part of your outfit. The Sleek Shape Tank comes in Shine Bright (Silver), Golden Glimmer (Gold) and Midnight Glitz (Black). This essential party-wear also gives you a seamless silhouette that can be layered with other pieces or paired with chic salacious bottoms ( you can never go wrong with a pair of liquid leggings ).
It is the winter season, and it is cold in New York City. So in addition to your glam damn outfit, make sure to bundle up. For non-club type holiday parties, I opt for a big scarf, because I’m always cold. The Atelier Solana Juniper Scarf Ivory is a serious life saver for me this winter. Its thick knitted material is made of 65% wool and 35% alpaca, making it insanely good at trapping heat. It’s length also allows me to wrap it enough times to cover any crevice in which wind that find its way through my label. I want to party hardy, not get a cold, so I make sure to wrap up before I go all out.
Lastly, I’m not a huge jewelry person, only getting into necklaces and bangles this year. However, I am absolutely a huge fan of wearing stylish watches. Watches are sexy in its utilitarian way and people absolutely pay attention to what brand of watch you are wearing. The face reflects light as you move your wrist, making it great to dazzle eyes while grasping your cocktail glass for a sip. The Versace Greca Goddess watch is hands down my favorite watch this year. It’s an absolute stunning, elegant timepiece and can elevate any outfit with its gorgeous gold studded greco-roman mosaic patterning. The Versace logo remains at the 12 O’Clock mark and the face of the watch has a mesmerizing pattern of inset layered circles. Sometimes all you need is something small to speak incredible volumes.
