For New Yorkers accustomed to dropping their alterations off with their dry cleaning and having to huddle behind a makeshift curtain (if there even is an option for trying on a garment), this is an enormous bonus for any neighborhood. From Mobile to Bespoke / Custom-Cut
You can also find 9 locations for bridal alterations, and can book an appointment via Mobile to have a tailor come to you. If you’re so inclined, you can also have custom-made pieces designed for you to your specifications. I love this bespoke option because you can start from scratch, let your imagination dictate what you would love, and then see it materialize.
I dropped off two items at Alts in the far west village location. The first was a black work jacket with an inexpensive button and one button hole; I asked for another button hole and more attractive buttons. I also dropped off a sleeveless shirt that I wanted hemmed/shortened because it fell far too low on me. When I picked up the jacket, I was surprised that it looked far more elegant than I could ever have imagined, with three new professional button holes and three perfectly chosen black velvet buttons. The shirt was hemmed expertly and went from being my least favorite shirt to my favorite after one drop-off at Alts. In a nutshell: 5 shining stars for the beautiful work done at Alts.
