If you savor high quality, imported beers, then Lindemans Belgian beer is the drink for you. Lindemans Brewery began as a family farm in southwest Brussels, and started commercial brewing operations in 1822. They specialized in Lambics, a unique style of wheat beer wholly dependent on wild airborne yeasts for fermentation with an exceptionally long period of maturation up to 3 years. Their brewery revenue eventually outpaced their farming revenue, so by 1930, the Lindemans family was focusing fully on the brewing business. Still family-owned, Lindemans exports its award winning ales to a dozen countries including the US, where their ales outsell other Lambics.
Their robust Cherry (Kriek) Lambic Beer is quite tasty, as is the Peach (Peche). Lindemans also offers apple, black current, raspberry, and strawberry flavors, but I have only tried the cherry and peach. The Cherry beer is deeply rose-colored from ripe black cherries, and is sparkling, fruity, and refreshing with a full body and slightly tart finish. The Peche (peach) is amber-colored with a light bouquet and the sweet flavor of peaches.
