Wishing for Peace and Joy on Earth? Wear it.

As the holidays approach, I am reminded of the year that I’ve had and the joy, peace, and love I have felt with the people I care for most. I am beyond fortunate – and with that in mind, I strive to support brands that share a similar ethos. That’s where Wear The Peace comes in, a change maker in fashion and spirit. Founded in 2016, Murad Nofal and Mustafa Mabruk wanted to spread the message: “Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change.” They have been true to this goal by creating pieces that have a direct impact on human lives. For every article of clothing sold, Wear The Peace donates a brand new piece of clothing to a human being in need. They work with Helping Hand for Relief to send the clothing to refugee camps around the world.

Their water drop necklace is a simple yet elegant glass bead on a dainty chain, and Wear The Peace donates 1500 gallons of water from the purchase of this necklace. Thus far, they have donated 6 million gallons of water to those in need.

I adore this necklace as well as their earth necklace. This duo is an everyday staple. As I wear them at university in the library, or in a civics class, I am reminded of my fellow humans all around the globe every time I look at my neck and how we are all connected.

Wear The Peace has college student approval from me! Their cozy pieces keep me comfortable and warm in the New England chill. They embroider and screen-print at their Chicago location at Culture Studio , where the employees are treated with respect, humanity, and fair compensation. The clothing itself comes from an Anti-Sweatshop Movement and Clean Energy supplier which uses as much of the fabric for clothing and anything else gets recycled. No landfills here.

The Human Kind Embroidered Tee in Saltwater is a massive hit for me and my friend, a guy who is a historian and all about social justice and world peace. My friend remarks every time I wear it that it brings a smile to his face – and it brings one to mine, too. The soft, thick fabric still looks new after a few months. The saying on the Tee is cute and gets to the point in welcoming like-minded folks into my life. Wear The Peace is a total convo-starter brand with their direct, humanity-orientated sayings.

I live in hoodies because I’m constantly heading out for late lunches or to meet up with friends. I need a hoodie that keeps me warm, looks stylish, and moves with me. The two I picked up are the Human Embroidered Hoodie in Brown and Protect Your Peace Embroidered Hoodie in Mauve. The Human hoodie reads “HUMAN in multiple shades of skin tones.” I wear this on minimalistic days with black leggings, Chucks, and a sleek bun with brown lip gloss. Half model-off-duty, half-student, all humanitarian vibes.

As I type this article, I’m wearing the Protect Your Peace Embroidered Hoodie in Mauve. It’s a simple saying, yet three people have asked “What does ‘protecting your peace’ mean?” which launches us into a whole convo, which is refreshing. I like hearing about what peace means to others because that is how we accomplish it as a collective. So, I’ll be rocking this pretty-in-pink number all the time – it’s just that versatile.

Wear The Peace donates to multiple organizations, including: A Year of School (for children in Nigeria and Syria to receive a safe education free from trauma and harm), Palestine Aid (to alleviate the suffering they are currently living through), Orphan Sponsor (aiding the roughly 153 million children in conflict/war zones), and many other charities. The organization has donated $117,625 in total to humanitarian organizations and counting. I can wholeheartedly say I look forward to seeing what Wear The Peace will do next, because I know it will be something good for all! Wear The Peace can be found here.
