e.l.f. Cosmetics has been an influential brand for many beauty-obsessed people, including me. Initially e.l.f. Cosmetics was more of an affordable brand that you could find at the drugstore or in the beauty section at Target and Ulta Beauty. It was super accessible and convenient – and it worked.
Lately, the brand has undergone a major reconstruction, competing with expensive and luxurious brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Milk, and Dior to make products more approachable and affordable for you’re average shopper, influencer, or college student. e.l.f. Cosmetics have taken over gondolas, walls, and entire aisles with their latest product launches.
Followed with a strong lineup of look-alikes and similar products, the Power Grip primer is similar to Milk’s blush, contour, and highlight wands, and their Halo Glow Liquid Filter is oddly similar to Charlotte Tilbury products. The coveted Halo Glow lip oils are comparable to viral lip sensations Dior Lip Oils.
I’ve tried every single dupe and the lip oils were no disappointment when comparing them to Dior. I purchased Rose Envy, Red Delicious, and Jam Session, which contrast with Rosewood, Cherry, and Mahogany. At first glance, the products are similar from the wand and packaging to being the perfect pocket size. Though the Dior evokes luxury, e.l.f. isn’t far behind with its chic black toppers.
I tried three shades to see if the pigmentation was similar to the Dior lips oils, and I was impressed. Though they are sheerer, for the price of $8 at 0.25 oz compared to a whopping $40 at 0.20 oz, the sheerness was worth it. So…were the lip oils worth it?
I believe that the price, product presentation, and variety of colors make the e.l.f. Halo Glow lip oils SO worth it. When applying the lip oil, your lips are treated to a mint scent that is delightful (if you like your lip products flavored). I loved the hint of mint.
The applicator goes on comfortably and isn’t sticky, which is a con in most glosses. Though the oils are sheer, I noticed they also act as a lip tint if you build up the product.
You may still miss the Dior lip oils, but I’d say this dupe is an appropriate and worthwhile purchase.
