Bottino is tucked away just above Chelsea and below Hudson Yards in the far west art gallery district on Tenth Avenue, and is a destination in itself for anyone who appreciates fine Italian cuisine. It’s a garden delight for major events, small celebrations, and dining al fresco on a date, featuring two greenhouse-style patio dining areas that can be combined for larger parties. Summer is truly when Bottino shines, though it’s quite cozy in other seasons, too.
The restaurant features mid-century furnishings and modern Italian cuisine with a creative twist. It’s a superb destination for cocktails, lunch, and dinner.
I attended a baby shower held on one of Bottino’s patios, which imparted the sunny feel and food of Tuscany, so it felt transformative. Another guest at the event recalled being there for a wedding reception, and a third remembered having incredible pasta with her daughter at Bottino in the winter. It’s the kind of place that you remember for the food, the setting, and how great you feel when you’re there.

The baby shower at Bottino was a sit-down affair in the patio, with guest mingling and enjoying appetizers amid foliage beforehand. Once seated, guests savored a fresh salad, an entree (branzino, chicken, pasta), a dessert (tiramisu, berries and cream, and more), and cappuccino or coffee. The service was warm, friendly and efficient, so everything flowed effortlessly and felt almost magical. The baby shower lasted three hours, and no one at Bottino rushed us out or cared when it spilled slightly over. Bottino offers one of the most accommodating wait-staffs in the city.
