The Cozy Edit: Three Scent Options To Warm Your Home

Daylight savings is upon us, and while I love the extra hour of sleep, the 5 p.m. sunsets really activate the seasonal depression. Scents are one of the best ways to add a cozy vibe to these long, cold nights. These are my most recent favorites—feel free to pick the one that fits your lifestyle, scent preferences, and level of effort.

For hours of lounging

The three-wick Cosmic Birthday Candle ($42) is uniquely customized to your birthdate. Cosmos Within’s astrologer, Diego, worked with a master perfumer to develop a cosmically-inspired fragrance for each sign. Mine (Libra) is neroli & sea salt, but other options include cedarwood & mint (Virgo), pomegranate & peppercorn (Aries), and nine other lovely combinations.

Diego also wrote personalized astrology readings and affirmations for each day, adding an ultra-specific touch. All the details make this candle so special, and the black-and-white vessel with gold constellation lid looks perfect on any shelf or table.

For a quick refresh

If your home is feeling stale, a spritz of room spray can really liven it up. I’ve been loving the Welcome Room Spray ($20) from Byodiri because of the intriguing scent combination. Amber, sandalwood, and smoke flow well together, but the surprising addition of coconut adds a creaminess and sweetness. Also, it makes me feel like I’m on a tropical island—far, far away from the impending NYC snow.

To set and forget

Some winter days, I can’t be bothered to make dinner, much less light a candle. That’s where Azuna’s Odor Eliminators come in handy. For $40, you can get the Luxe Glass Apartment Kit, which comes with two refillable glass jars and an odor eliminator gel pouch. All you have to do is fill the jar with gel, screw on the lid, and leave it be.

The main ingredient in the gel is Australian tea tree oil, known to neutralize odors in a natural, non-toxic way. It comes in a variety of scents, ranging from seasonal pumpkin spice to subtle lavender. Note that the scent may fade over time, but the air freshening properties will last for up to three months.

The Cozy Edit features our fall and winter favorites in home, beauty, skincare, and more.
