Nostalgic and Novel: Camp Snap Core & Video Camera Reviews

I am a baby of the 2000s and my teenagehood is permanently positioned in the 2010s (I love a good throwback). I remember getting my first DSLR for my 16th birthday and being obsessed with the era of bokeh (does anyone remember Brandon Woelfel? His photography had me in a chokehold) and wanting to capture a Tumblr-girl aesthetic on my feed. A decade later and I am going back in time to a more imperfect era of photography and videography with Camp Snap cameras.

Camp Snap Camera

No matter the occasion, I tuck my Camp Snap Camera in my tote for my daily adventures. The camera looks like a regular film camera but it is completely digital. This gives the footage a vintage feel without having to send it to a camera shop.

The no-screen feature makes each picture a surprise and allows me to be fully present in capturing memories with friends and family. The memory card stores up to 500 photos, which is great for when I need to disconnect from the cyberspace, like music festivals or camping. My friends and I had a light show on campus and we had fun passing around the camera for cool shots.

Since summer is coming up, I’ll test out the Waterproof Case which protects the camera from any splashes by the beach or pool. So far, the case is great for rainy day pictures while walking through the forest. I recommend this little camera for an extraordinary experience in photography.

CS-8 Digital Video Camera

In my recent film course, my professor brought the CS-8 Digital Video Camera to class. My initial reaction: “This is so cool!!”

I got my hands on my own video camera and have been filming nonstop with it. When I went to Key West, I filmed the ocean and street performers. In Princeton, I recorded seniors talking about their experiences on campus. I even filmed my final project on the camera for my film course (still in the works of editing).

The highlights are the four filters that give different vibes, like the true Super-8 filter that feels like old school film, which is my personal favorite. The dimensions on the camera include one for reels, which is great as a content creator. This camera doesn’t have a playback screen, so it forces me to stay in the moment with my creative energy.

I will say the SD card that is provided is very small (only 30 minutes of storage), so swap it out for a bigger one for longer film time. The mic is a little choppy so I suggest using an external microphone for crisp audio.

The CS-8 Digital Video Camera is an amazing video camera for any event that comes up and is an addition I believe any visual arts lover would appreciate.
