For Fall Drinks, Just Add Cinnamon

While some of you may reach for a frothy pumpkin ale or smoky Cabernet this fall, let us suggest a few cocktails that perfectly embody autumn. All it takes, we’ve come to find, is some well-placed cinnamon and perhaps a nutmeg dash or three, to properly transform a light-hearted warm weather drink into a deeper fall libation.

At first glance, one may associate blood orange-infused vodka with the type of drink served at a summer rooftop party, but that just means they haven’t met Après Ski. This handcrafted cocktail by Rael Petit of Mulberry Project blends SKYY Infusions Blood Orange with hot apple cider, nutmeg and cinnamon as a garnish. The result is a particularly hard cider that speaks to the fruity elements of orange and apple, without compromising the spice of nutmeg and cinnamon.

Après Ski
Created by Rael Petit of Mulberry Project

2 oz. SKYY Infusions Blood Orange
6 oz. hot apple cider
nutmeg sprinkles
cinnamon stick garnish

Combine ingredients in a snifter glass. Sprinkle with nutmeg and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Spiced Passion

2 oz. Peligroso cinnamon tequila
3 oz. horchata
.5 oz. passion fruit puree
cinnamon stick garnish

Never sipped cinnamon infused tequila? You’re not alone. Peligroso’s cinnamon tequila is the first of its kind, which means there’s no better time than the present — at a crisp outdoor fall shindig perhaps? — to experience the extra warming marriage of the spice with tequila’s agave. While this spirit blends exceptionally well with most tequila cocktails (even the traditional margarita, sub out salt for cinnamon), our favorite is the delicious Spiced Passion. To make, blend Peligroso with the cinnamon-tinged horchata, passion fruit puree and a cinnamon stick garnish for good measure.
