I always feel better with a bit of invisible makeup, something to brighten and smooth the complexion in order to feel my best self. In this modern age of virtual meetings and working from home, it’s not every day that I even wear it anymore. Two new launches from clean beauty brands Ilia and Saie, though, have changed that.
The new Ilia Skin Rewind Complexion Stick is like Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser, but for the face. With 42 shades to choose from, the stick, which “looks like makeup, acts like skincare,” according to the website, is weightless, blurring, and oh-so-natural. I applied it directly to my face, then blended with a makeup sponge, and it melted into the skin, leaving a natural-to-dewy finish with medium coverage. Complexion sticks are undoubtedly having a moment; don’t miss Ilia’s competitive formula and ergonomic packing (it’s comfortable to hold, with an imprint for the thumb). I tried the shades Balsa, Holly, and Pine–I love seeing brands offer cool, neutral, and warm options for every skin tone.
To cover stubborn redness and lingering spots, I dabbed on the new Saie Slip Tint Radiant All-Over Concealer (I tried shades 1 and 3). Available in 25 shades, this serum-like wand concealer layered flawlessly atop the complexion stick, but can also be worn alone, as the name implies. I blended with a finger, gently tapping in the rest with a makeup sponge. I didn’t powder my skin after applying these products–though I probably would in the summertime–and was left with a natural glow all day on my normal-to-oily skin.
At the end of the first day I tried these products, I actually forgot I was wearing makeup on my skin; that’s how seamlessly they blend. They’re perfect for a last-minute pre-Zoom makeover, on-the-go application when you’re running late, or as your everyday essentials.
