It’s already early October and I still haven’t started my new Fall routine: eating healthier, less vino, more exercise, and all those wonderful things I said I’d start in January. I did read Alejandro Junger’s latest healthy book, Clean Gut (really insightful by the way) and have all the good intentions to start the 4 week program one day. But for now, I’m stocking up on some cultural Paris events this season. Here are some that I think are the best.
Picture perfect Seine
We’ve all seen the Seine but why not appreciate it even more with its outdoor exhibition of 40 non-Western photographers. For stunning images of landscapes, objects, fashion or architecture, stroll by the Promenade du Quai Branly from now til Nov 17. You might see the Seine in a different way. Spice up your life
To make sure you experience an Indian summer in Paris this year why not get a taste of Indian film and we’re not talking Bollywood. If you want to queue for hours to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, good luck with that. Here’s something else just as inspiring and with less well-known artists (John William Godward, Frederick Goodall and Emma Sandys) that’s a show not ot be missed. As part of the Festival d’Automne à Paris this year, Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla draw from the incredible collections of Paris’s natural history museum for a project called, Hope Hippo, (shown at the 2005 Venice?Biennale). Displayed in the museum’s central gallery, the 2 films use precious artifacts – the Venus of Lespugue and two elephant skeletons – to create unusual concerts, so unusual wish you were an elephant.
