Ayurveda for Ideal Health: Q & A with Certified Practitioner Chandanni Miglino

Regarded as one of the oldest established systems of medicine, the science of Ayurveda goes back 5000 years. This theory states that good health depends on the body, mind, and spirit being aligned. Dietary changes and the use of herbal remedies are some of the practices which make Ayurveda so fascinating. Ayurveda is known for its ability to eliminate toxins from the body, support the digestion process, and embrace nourishing food. To understand more about the practice and its benefits, Beauty News NYC sat down with Chandanni Miglino, an Ayurvedic practitioner, lifestyle expert, public speaker and the founder/CEO of Chandanni.com.

Chandanni, could you please tell us more about yourself and your journey so far?

I have been on a wellness journey for over 22 years now. It all began with an accidental yoga class I took back in 1999 — and from that fateful day, my whole life took a turn. I realized that I never knew who I was or what wellness meant. I was always up and down and not well. Not self-aware and certainly not happy. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and that day I took my first step. I have since devoted my life to experiencing mindfulness and wellness as a constant in the years that have passed, including becoming a certified yoga and prenatal yoga teacher and an Ayurvedic practitioner and a businesswoman. After realizing that people spend most of their lives suffering from all kinds of imbalances and a lack of self-awareness or self-knowledge, I chose to launch a foundational universal Ayurvedic product line to bring modern and simple tools and products to the market that would help people move into alignment, deliver healing and awareness, and point at the urgency and need of integrated wellness for all people, everywhere.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you have learned along the way creating your product?

Starting a brand is very difficult. I especially was not versed in retail, branding, finance or manufacturing but I started from scratch and figured things out through trial and error.  One thing I am good at is formulating simple products that are effective and a sign of the times. I started with so many SKU’s at first and soon realized that it was unsustainable so now have dedicated the line to a simple but powerful set of tools and organic products that help people move into a lifestyle of wellness and harmony from the inside out. Business and branding are an ongoing journey and bringing the right systems and teams within the company takes time and talent. We are still growing and still building but now we have proof in the pudding: a brand that people love and trust.

Your liver detox is life changing. Can you elaborate more?

Our liver detox program is life changing and sits as the centrifugal product of our line and message. When we alkalize the blood stream and remove inflammation from the system we move into a state of optimum balance and functioning. The practice of seasonal cleansing allows us to move into heightened well-being by invigorating digestion and fortifying our gut bacteria that is having a changing of the guards every new season. When people detox and reset the mind and body it creates a disruption in the system that helps us literally wake up and eliminate and assimilate effectively and efficiently. People feel more connected, healthier, and reborn — and things begin to emphatically change in their lives and lifestyle patterns. It’s remarkable and gets better and better as people undergo this detox every three to four months, in the new year for winter, the spring and then one in the fall season. The proof is in the pudding and people find this program modern and efficient for their respective lives.

There is no caffeine for two weeks? Why is that?

In Ayurveda we recognize the liver as the queen organ. The hottest organ of our system. And so for two weeks as we cleanse and reset our liver, including the rest of our mind and body, we are cooling it down. We are on a high alkaline vegan-based diet and remove anything acidic or stimulating to the system including coffee that is acidic and drains the adrenals. We are in a state of cool, calm, and collected as the climate for this great reset! It’s only for 14 days and after this you can go back to having coffee again.

What foods should we absolutely stay away from during these two weeks?

We remove meat, wheat, dairy, processed foods, processed sugars, alcohol, caffeine, fermented foods, all nightshades, soy, corn, peppers and chilies of any kind, pineapple, mango, citrus fruits except for lemons and limes, all stimulating or acidic foods – a list of what foods are allowed and not allowed are contained in the liver cleanse handbook and on our online membership platform people who sign up for the detox have access to.

Anything else we should know?

Integrated wellness is the highest activism on Earth and is the responsibility of all people to move into. Future wealth and richness are lifestyles that can bio-hack us into a state of radiant health and wellbeing. We are happy to be at the forefront of this exciting and timely movement, offering products and services to the consumer to live their best and most powerful life.
