The note of cherry in fragrance has been popular since the early 2000s, but has seen a recent surge in popularity. You’ve heard of the viral Tom Ford Lost Cherry, Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry, and the 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition; those are great, but what else is out there? Here are three cherry perfumes to try if you’re looking for something a bit different.
Sirène is the first fragrance from the house of Fragrance Du Bois specifically created for women (though I find it to be unisex!). With notes of cherry, pepper, oud, incense, benzoin and more, this ode to femininity is an elevated take on the fruit that blends spice and lactonic notes. Juicy at first spray, this settles into a woody, leathery take on cherry that you’ve certainly not smelled before. The presentation is also gorgeous – pink and gold with a bejeweled cap. This one’s ethereal and sophisticated, perfect for any age but probably the most mature of the three.
The new Clean Reserve Whipped Cherry is a more edible take on the note; wild cherry, coconut water, almond blossom, praline and vanilla cream blend for a mouthwateringly creamy concoction. “Whipped” is an apt name for this scent – despite its gourmand quality, it remains light and airy. Think of this one as a decadent vanilla dessert topped with whipped cream, adorned with a cherry. While the cherry is detectable, it’s not as heavy on the note as some others on the market, making it an appealing choice for many olfactive tastes.
Finally, Almond by Caswell-Massey is a sheer take on cherry that marries the freshness of fruit with the nutty, confectionary qualities of almond flower. Other notes include a salty accord, tonka bean and sandalwood. This is like a warm, comforting hug – there is no tart juiciness here; rather, the cherry acts as a complement to the almond for a match that is truly made in heaven. While not as gourmand as the Clean Reserve scent, it is still delicious – but in a cleaner way. This would be a perfect year-round signature scent.
