The Gazillion Bubble Show in New York City currently has an open run, and for good reason. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s far more fun for both adults and children than you could ever imagine. Running for about an hour and 10 minutes, I went in with a 7-year-old in tow, wondering how blowing bubbles could possibly be interesting after 10 minutes (my typical limit when viewing monster bubbles in Central Park). I was wrong. There is quite a lot you can do with bubbles to keep audiences entranced for more than an hour and wanting more.
Introduced to New Yorkers in 2007 by Fan Yang, his family members perform his act, which is perfected to include audience participation, a bubble laboratory where different properties are introduced within the bubbles to transform them, gigantic bubbles and small ethereal bubbles that float gently above your head, and many other tricks of the bubble trade. And yes, there are a gazillion bubbles for a magical experience. People of all ages can savor this whimsical show that combines art, magic and science for a truly dazzling act.
The show runs without an intermission and feels like just the right length. The front seats do get a little wet from bubble solution, so dress accordingly and know that it’s part of the fun. The show features laser lighting, music, video and a festive, memorable atmosphere, rendering it ideal for a child’s birthday party. You can purchase monster bubble-makers in the lobby too if your little ones are so inspired.
