Facing Fall with International & Domestic Flair

This month, I virtually ventured in and out of the U.S. in search of some of the leading products that are popular in several parts of the globe. All of them are available for purchase either online or in fine stores throughout the U.S. The task of reducing them down has been daunting as more grooming products emerge for the holiday season. Following is a sample of some of the fresh items that I deem worthy for this season. Daimon * Barber (above) is our first stop.

From England, the British have a lead with this Classic Pomade by Daimon * Barber. Enriched with avocado and coconut oils, this pomade will help your hair with added strength and shine. I use it for parting my hair to the side and the classic slick back that dates back before the beginning of Savile Row to the very end of Hollywood Boulevard.

The Daimon * Barber Yuzo Paste is resourceful for a stronger hairstyle hold. You can create that messy but controlled look with just a pea-sized dab or two and then finger comb your desired style. It’s easy to use and helps keep your look throughout the blustery days and changing temps. I apply it after towel drying my hair. The outcome is exactly what you’ll want for casual days at work and that lead into the occasional raucous night on the town.

From the land of the rising sun, MARO offers many products to improve hair at the roots. Created by Japanese beauty experts and hair scientists, this company uses the latest in scalp care technology and stem cell research behind the underlying cause of hair loss, graying and thinning. MARO 17 Collagen Shampoo Perfect Wash is formulated with peptides, apple cultured stem cell extract and collagen. The outcome is fuller hair. I gave this shampoo extra points for the alluring scent and recommend their MARO 17 Collagen Conditioner as well.

Those of you who read this column regularly already know that I am a fan of Pisterzi Barber. While the flagship shop is in Milan, Italy, we locals are lucky to have their twin atelier in SoHo. This month, I chose the Pisterzi Face and Eye Guard Treatment Faze. I’ve been using their products since this past summer and the outcome always impresses me. This particular product is hydrating with sweet almond oil and vitamin E. Other ingredients act as a toner and improve the skins elasticity. I strongly recommend you try this and I will keep you posted as they develop new products. A firm bravo all around.

Closer to home but also a world away, allow me to introduce you to Maui Moisture. Perhaps you already are aware of their hair products but they are new to me. I suffer from dry hair, most specifically during the fall and winter seasons. A colleague of mine suggested the Maui Moisture Weightless Oil Mist for Dry Hair. It’s working. All of their products are made with 100% aloe extract and silicone free. I’ve discovered that this spray is convenient for travel and easily fits into a sport coat pocket or backpack. The scent will take you to our nearby American islands. Just one pump releases a fresh, tropical and clean scent that adds shine to even the dullest follicle.

This new product should have all of our inked readers sit up, flex and take note. Reuzel from Holland has created a very prescient concoction named Reuzel TAT – a spray to renew and dazzle your single tattoo, multiple skin art or sleeve. I admit that I remain one of the few inkless people still roaming the earth, however, this product intrigued me so much and I believe its demand and marketability are necessary so I requested a sample bottle. I had several of my tatted friends try the product at a recent party. Their unanimous response was thumbs and limbs up. This product lives up to its claims and you will notice your skin art will shine and represent as best as possible to your original dream creation.

It should be common knowledge by now that our entire editorial team is pro sunscreen. Everyone needs to protect their skin even after summer and into the winter months. With the fall winds brewing, I selected the Everyday Mineral Moisturizer by Community Sixty-Six. It is made for all skin types with SPF 30 and a non-greasy formula. While everyone starts to bundle-up with sweaters and jackets, please remember to apply this to your exposed face. The sun’s rays are out even when we don’t see them.

I hail from Pennsylvania and this time of year evokes the crisp and desirable scent of nature for me. I love the smell of the mountains and endless rows of maple, chestnut and evergreen trees. This being said, I selected the seasonal Green Cedar scent by Abel. This product has its roots in New Zealand while made in The Netherlands. The ingredients include Texas and Atlas Mountain cedar that helps bring the scent state side and closer to home. I recommend a splash or two before heading out into your world.

I will be covering more products from the brands listed above and others in the coming weeks. Be sure to read Metro Man and all Beauty News NYC sections for our holiday editorial and gift ideas.
