Seeking better lips? Start with a better gut.
When you think about taking care of your body, what comes to mind? Your brain and heart are some obvious starts. After all, you need both organs to function well. But what about your other organs? Ever think of those in your quest for healthier living?
Many of my patients are often neglecting to eat well for their skin (our largest organ) and more specifically, their lips. Studies show that your lips can be healthier when your gut health is optimal. That’s right. Optimal lip health (think beautiful, kiss me lips) can be all yours if you feed your gut the right bacteria for healthy microflora to flourish.
One of the key factors connecting gut health and lip health is the enhancing of immune system which can come from a bacteria called LGG (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG). LGG is often found in probiotic supplements. In fact, LGG is the most clinically studied probiotic in the world for digestive and immune health.
Here’s how to get a better gut for better lips:
• Eat more fermented foods such as miso, tempeh, sauerkraut, and kombucha
• Eat more fiber – especially from whole grains, as well as colorful fruits and vegetables
• Avoid foods that make your gut angry, like sugar, refined grains and excess amounts of saturated fats
• Consider a probiotic supplement to make sure you are getting the LGG bacteria. Clear Probiotics contains a powerful combination of probiotic strains plus a prebiotic developed specifically for alleviating lip issues.
Gut health is essential to prevention of chronic disease, weight management, and according to some studies, even better mental health. Diet and probiotic supplement use can help you reach the wellness goals you are striving for!
