In NYC the hustle and bustle of everything is overwhelming. Rushing from train to appointment to restaurant to work to home, my heartbeat races and I desperately try to find some calm. Calm I did find when I booked a nail appointment at sundays SoHo studio. For this trip I indulged in the gel manicure and pedicure to unwind and get summer ready.

The Philosophy of a Perfect Pedicure at sundays

Wellness is at the core of sundays and it was apparent from the first moment I stepped into the studio. The receptionist guided me to the sitting area that doubled as the pedicure station for my appointment. While I settled in, the receptionist offered me Yuzu and Honey tea to sip on and swatches to thumb through to pick my perfect shade.

My nail tech for the day was Yashoda, who walked me through the ethos of sundays. The brand’s focus is on cruelty-free, non-toxic, vegan, and 10-free polishes. To start, Yashoda soaked my feet, scrubbed them, and shaped my nails. The prep process put me in a state of pure relaxation.
When it was time for my toe color, I decided on a soft pink with a slight shimmer. Yashoda painted on the pretty polish before curing it with the lamp. She truly perfected my pedicure with a touch of cream on my feet. I felt like a pretty princess after my pedicure!
The Magnificent Manicure

The signature manicure at sundays is a must to feel pampered. I walked over to the manicure station where Yashoda took care of my hands. Beginning with a warm soak with lemon, she then cleaned my cuticles and shaped my nails gently. We chatted about her culture while she painted a sunny yellow onto my nails with a silver glitter accent on my pointer and middle fingers. As the gel was curing, she gave me a delightful back massage (which I was not expecting but was a lovely touch to my manicure). To finish, she used a warm towel and a dab of lotion on my hands.

To Polish or Not: Final Thoughts on sundays
My time at sundays was unparalleled. I liked the focus on wellness, calming interior design, warm customer service, and assortment of vegan and non-toxic polish colors. It isn’t the traditional nail salon with harsh chemicals or hard gel (they don’t do acrylics or take them off, as one of the women next to me asked during her appointment). They focus on soft gel, gentle practices, and clean beauty. This studio is great for a girls’ day, mother-daughter nail appointments, or a simple refresh from a busy week.
