Pandemic Mom Creates Empowering Skincare Line: Q & A with the Founder of Glazed and Glossed

Having a baby is no easy task. For those of you who have neglected your own self-care due to the challenges of motherhood, you are not alone. Meet Adrienne Aaron, founder and CEO of Glazed and Glossed. Through her own early motherhood battle, she decided to create a skincare brand dedicated to nurturing one’s inner and outer beauty.

Adrienne, please tell us about yourself and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Dallas girl, born and raised. I’ve been happily married for six years and am the proud mother of a lively 3-year-old little boy. My journey began as a professional ballerina in Fort Worth, Texas, dancing for a local company for four years. During that time, I received my undergraduate degree in fashion merchandising at Texas Christian University. After graduation, I began my 10-year career in the fashion industry, working with big name brands, including Fossil, Armani, DKNY, Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade New York. I started out as a coordinator in product development and quickly worked my way up to becoming an assistant brand manager where I enjoyed visiting NYC for market weeks. This is where I learned the most in my career and found my passion for business and branding. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, painting, playing the cello, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.

Why did you decide to produce your own skincare line and what does the name Glazed and Glossed symbolize?
I was six weeks pregnant when the pandemic hit in March 2020, and continued to work from home while my belly grew. During lockdown, I vividly remember the excitement of attending my bi-weekly check-ups and scans, which became my only outings during Covid. Despite the chaos, I welcomed my son into the world that October through a mask. After my maternity leave ended, I juggled working from home for six months while I cared for our son, dealt with breastfeeding issues, lip/tongue ties, and GERD, all during the overwhelming isolation of the pandemic. Faced with extreme sleep deprivation and battling postpartum depression and anxiety, I felt lost in my own body and neglected self-care. Staring into the mirror one morning and barely recognizing myself, I knew I had to make a change. I began prioritizing and practicing self-care through a dedicated skincare routine morning and night, and remarkably, it significantly improved my mental health and quickly became the little luxury in my day that I could look forward to.

Realizing there were other moms out there struggling with the same challenges, I noticed a white space in the beauty industry which failed to speak directly to us pandemic moms. I made the decision to leave my decade-long career to pursue my master’s in business while caring for my son at home full-time. This pivotal moment inspired me to create my own beauty brand, one that empowers all moms who’ve ever felt “glazed or glossed” over and to inspire then to practice self-care and prioritize their mental health. My dream is to build a community where we can share stories, and to help moms find their glow again through the practice of skincare ritual and by supporting and encouraging them through their time of need and beyond.?

You have an inspiring story for mothers. Can you elaborate more on your journey through motherhood and starting a business?
Motherhood has been an incredible journey, transforming me in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. My confidence has soared, and I’ve become adept at embracing unpredictability, a skill that has seamlessly translated from toddlers to entrepreneurship! I’ve had a passion for the beauty industry from a very young age, concocting ‘potions’ made of body soap, hair gel, and anything else I could get my hands on, with dreams of starting my own business one day. Two years of dedicated study in grad school finally paved the way for my venture and it clicked. Grateful for the unwavering support of my husband and our parents, who have stepped in to help care for our son during my unrelenting study sessions and the building of my business, I have been able to navigate the all-consuming nature of school, entrepreneurship, and motherhood combined. The to-do list is endless, but I have gotten really good at prioritizing. Balancing family, studies, and business pursuits is not for the faint of heart and has required resilience and grace. I’ve learned that success demands a fearless embrace of failure, especially for someone like me who has been failure adverse in the past. My advice, especially to fellow moms dreaming of starting their own businesses, is simply just start. The initial leap of committing can be downright terrifying, but taking charge of your dreams and embracing the possibility of failure is the first step and I promise that you will figure it out along the way. It is so rewarding and fulfilling to chase after your dreams and watch them grow into reality!

What makes your Glassdrops stand out from other serums?
Glassdrops is truly a unique serum that I have not experienced with any other brand before. It combines hyaluronic acid and a collagen protecting agent to hydrate, blur, and smooth the skin, giving you a plump and more youthful look in seconds which is great for tired and busy moms on the go! It’s like a real-life beauty filter that leaves you with the most beautiful glowing, glass-like skin. Additionally, it is clean and free from all toxic ingredients, as well as being vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, pregnancy and breastfeeding safe, and eco-friendly. Our skincare cares and will always remain free of ingredients that just don’t belong in beauty products.

Do you have future plans for new products?
Yes! We have been working hard on developing a range of six other essentials that I am incredibly excited about. The entire collection embodies a beautiful ballet core aesthetic, which adds a touch of whimsy and elegance to the vanity. From masks and lip balm to moisturizers and serums, there truly is something for everyone in this collection. We are dedicated to maintaining our commitment to clean and effective ingredients, ensuring that each product enhances the overall skincare ritual experience. Product development is our forte, and we can’t wait to unveil all the exciting new items we have in store. Stay tuned.

Anything else we should know?
At our company, we take great pride in our commitment to making a difference and staying true to our mission. For every sale, we donate $1 to Postpartum Support International, an organization dedicated to making maternal mental health support services more accessible, which can provide help to new moms. This initiative reflects our deep-seated belief in giving back to the community and promoting the well-being of moms and families around the world. We are passionate about making a positive impact, and this partnership allows us to contribute to a cause that matters deeply to us. With each purchase, you are not just buying a product; you are joining us in our mission to create a healthier, happier world for mothers to find their glow again and thrive.

Our first-ever crowdfunding campaign is HERE, and has just launched through November 30th. By pledging you will receive first exclusive access to our Glassdrops Blurring Serum before it launches and it will ship right in time for the holidays.
