I recently got to try Flashback’s new and improved V2 update with added cable transfer, Digicam Mode for instant viewing, an improved sensor, and new designs. The reusable camera digitally simulates the effects of using film during an era when film cameras were all the rage. As was the case with film usage, you can choose from different styles, such as classic color, black and white, high contrast, and more.
This app-based camera doesn’t require an SD card. However, using Flashback’s companion app is essential for processing your photos so be sure that your technical equipment is IOS 13+ or Android 5.0+.
“It’s About Capturing the Moment.”
I’ve used a variety of cameras and camera gear. There are times when I love to fiddle with camera settings to try and capture a perfect photograph. However, when I’m traveling, a lightweight portable camera requiring minimal setup is ideal because I want to be unencumbered by heavy camera bags and extra lenses.
When I started shooting with the Flashback there was a period of adjustment. Working without extensive technical controls, I made just about every error one could make, including misjudging lighting and having my thumb show up in a few photographs. The flash is really strong, resulting in a few washed-out and overexposed photographs.
Blurred photographs happen easily when captures are spontaneous and not heavily controlled with the aperture, shutter speed, and white balance settings present in professional gear.
Still, I enjoyed using the Flashback camera because it inspired me to capture more photographs since I didn’t have to worry about adjusting settings and taking a perfect photograph.
Here’s one of the “imperfect” photographs I captured with the Flashback.

Below, are two more photographs (post editing) that I took using the Flashback camera. They aren’t flawless photographs. Sometimes simply capturing a moment is more important than perfection.

Who Would Benefit from Purchasing the Flashback Camera?
This camera is not professional gear. In my opinion, the retro Flashback is a good choice for travelers, vintage camera lovers seeking a retro-styled camera to capture everyday moments, casual photographers in search of a point-and-shoot alternative, or for anyone in search of a lightweight camera without complex settings. It is not a good choice if you wish to shoot professional captures or desire a camera with complex technical settings and controlled effects.
