Ready to Ride the World’s Longest Lazy River?

During a drab week in the City, the vibe was decidedly sunny at Pier59 Studios in Chelsea Piers on Wednesday. Influencers, members of the media, and travel enthusiasts gathered to get a sneak peek at Royal Caribbean’s latest destinations—and maybe enjoy a cocktail or two. The event showcased what’s in store for future Royal Caribbean customers, and it’s all very exciting!

Waterslide towerThrills and Chills in Mexico

In the fall of 2027, Royal Caribbean is set to open Perfect Day Mexico. The new destination is located on 200 acres of Mexico’s Caribbean coast and will feature something for everyone. For thrill-seekers, there is Loco Waterpark, which will boast 30 waterslides including the tallest waterslide tower (with an epic Jaguar head) in North and South America and the longest coaster waterslide in the world.

A Perfect Day Mexico

For chill seekers (Hey, friends!), Splash Cove will have the longest lazy river in the world including a cup-holder in every inner tube to maximize the float-up bar experience. (It sounds like a grown-up version of the chocolatey river in Willy Wonka, and if anyone decides to hide golden tickets in six-packs, I may go broke.)

Overall, the destination will have 12 dining options and 24 bars including six swim-up bars. Perfect Day Mexico will be included on sailings from Galveston, New Orleans, and Florida ports with bookings opening up in the fall.

Royal Beach Club Paradise IslandBeyond the Horizon

Several other destinations are also in the works for Royal Caribbean. This December, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is scheduled to open on Nassau’s Paradise Island in the Bahamas. When cruisers purchase a day pass here, they can access the locations’ three eateries and the world’s largest swim-up bar. Royal Beach Club Cozumel is set to open in 2026 with experiential options like tequila tastings and cooking classes.

Not to leave out our friends from Down Under, the brand has its sights set on opening the first exclusive island cruise destination in the Southern Hemisphere in 2027 with Lelepa, a nature-inspired destination with walking trails and tranquil beaches on a Vanuatuan island.

Amy Hamblen

After spending over a decade in New York, Amy Hamblen is still impressively bad at giving directions around the city. Fortunately, she makes up for it with an abundance of solid happy hour recommendations. Amy is originally from Indiana, and whether or not her years spent covering the food and entertainment scene in NYC has earned her a seat at the table may be debatable, but it's of little consequence — she much prefers a stool at the bar.
