Most of us would like to travel to a place that is ultra clean, safe and relaxing. For me, that destination has always been the Emerson Resort & Spa, even before the pandemic. When I thought of where I wanted to go now, Emerson in Mt. Tremper, New York, was the first destination that popped into my mind. Just one visit, and you will see a resort with attention to detail, immaculately clean, and above all, a sanctuary not far from New York City.
Although Emerson has had to adapt post-pandemic, most of the same amenities are available. During our visit, the spa was open, and the only difference was that entry to the locker room and sauna was not permitted. The outdoor hot tub was open but limited to two persons at a time.
For my spa treatment, I chose the Sacred Nature Mask Repair Solution, a facial designed to combat the effects of long-term mask wearing. My spa treatment was divine, and my aesthetician Jeanne was a gift from heaven. This facial is so much more than a face treatment. You will receive massage of your face, as well as shoulders, neck and arms. The facial also includes extractions which are gentle but thorough.
After wearing masks for over a year, my face finally felt deeply cleansed, hydrated and pampered. The products used are from Comfort Zone, and Italian skincare line. After being treated to these amazing products I continued using them at home. The eye cream transformed my undereye area after the facial, so I now use it religiously.
The spa is constantly coming up with new and innovative treatments. One of the newest includes the Chakra Renewal, with a 30-minute tarot card reading identifying areas of energy blockage, followed by a 60-minute crystal reiki session to release blockage, and renew chakra alignment. In addition, the spa just launched a new Spa Bites & Sips menu with a variety of healthy or gluten-free options along with, cocktails, wines, brews, teas and even their ImmuneSchein Elderberry Elixir Shot to add to guests’ spa experience.
After the spa it is great to take a walk around the grounds and sit by the creek listening to the water rushing by. The jetted tub and fireplace in the room are fantastic ways to further unwind before enjoying dinner at the Woodnotes Grille.
The food at Woodnotes is always amazing, and the service is never rushed. There is no need to leave this property, especially on a short visit, so being able to dine on site is a pleasure.
