Be Royalty for a Day at Spa Castle

I recently visited Spa Castle in Queens, New York, where they offer a plethora of spa experiences all under one roof that you can enjoy at your leisure. If you need a relaxing day in New York City, Spa Castle is the perfect place. Come with friends, family or solo, and leave with a renewed outlook on life. You will feel like a King or Queen of the Castle.

Spa Castle is built exactly like a castle. Although Spa Castle has been opened for over 15 years, it was recently renovated in areas including, the indoor and outdoor sauna rooms, upgraded filtration systems, new locker rooms, and a new exterior stucco finish inspired by the architecture of Mykonos, Greece. The blue and white exterior is an oasis amidst regular homes and buildings. The experience from beginning to end makes you feel like a VIP. First, if you come by car, just drive up and a valet will park for you. Then, upon entry you check in and receive a rubber watch with a number that is used to scan your locker and anything you purchase during your visit.

Once you enter the men’s or women’s locker room, you find the number on your watch that corresponds with the lockers and put your shoes in one and clothing in the other. Pick up your robe, towels, and sandals at a desk in the locker room, change and you are on your way. The watch scanner is an ingenious idea that makes everything so easy during your visit. You can wear it in the water, and any other hot or cold environment.

My first stop was the Bath area, in the women’s locker room area. A similar Bath area is also in the men’s locker room. The Baths include hot tubs and a cold plunge, as well as sauna, steam rooms, and showers. You are permitted to use the area nude, but I wore a bathing suit. I spent a good amount of time relaxing in the warmer pools before going into the cold plunge, and finally the sauna. I felt so relaxed just from this first stop, but proceeded upstairs to experience the Himalayan Salt Sauna, Color Therapy, Gold Sauna, Halotherapy, and the Infrared Zone.

One tip is to be incredibly careful on the steps because they can get wet and slippery, even though you are wearing rubber slippers. Once I arrived upstairs, I felt like a kid in a candy store, with so many options to choose from. I loved the Himalayan Salt Room, filled with healing salt where you can lie down on a mat and relax for as long as you want. The room is large, so it does not feel crowded. From there, I tried the Color Therapy room, which is a small space with several private seats where different colors turn on and off, providing healing light therapy.

I took a break and tried a smoothie from the juice bar, and it was so fresh and cooling after my heated therapies. You can sit in a lounge area and relax in between different therapies, which is really nice. If you want to have more than a snack, Spa Castle offers Greek, American, and Korean food to satisfy your appetite while lounging in between therapies or at the end of your visit.

Later I tried the Gold Sauna and Infrared beds before ending with the rooftop Hydrotherapy Pools. The Gold Sauna was amazing with its gold walls and warm, relaxing vibe. I also loved the Infrared beds where you can lie down and have infrared lights bathe over you. The rooftop pools were great, but I only stayed a short while since it was chilly outside at that point. Still, it felt great to sit in the warm water by the whirlpool jets while looking up at the sky.

I highly recommend a visit to Spa Castle for a staycation any time you need it. You can enjoy it at your leisure alone, or with family and friends. There are also massages, Korean Body Scrubs, or facials that you can book for your visit. There is something for everyone. Get ready for the royal treatment.
