Fall means saving recipes from NYT and getting my boyfriend to make soups, stews, and yummy meals for the cooler evenings. I recently got the Smithey Essentials Set for our kitchen. This set contains a 5.5 quart dutch oven and skillet with an interchangeable lid. Crafted in Charleston, South Carolina, Smithey motto is high quality over everything. The iron is weighty and durable while having a rustic vibe that will look good on any stove. Our evenings are stewing with pumpkin soups, beef stew, and homemade pizzas with Smithey’s cookware.
When something sweet is needed we boil up some homemade hot chocolate. This of course needs a sweet treat in the form of pillowy morsels of saccharine fluff: the Vermont Marshmallow Company. A pastry chef created line that centers on artistic rendition of artisanal flavors. Each season new flavors launch or grab their classic vanilla for a familiar taste.
Once I got my shipment in I toss a few in hot cocoa or in between graham cracks for a toothsome addition for sitting around the camp fire. The spiced pumpkin had notes of all a yummy pie yet a deeper flavoring that signals the autumn equinox in my tastebuds. My boyfriend devoured a few squares before I had to swipe the bag away (the ‘mallows are delish).
In the AM when I need a pick-me-up with a razzle dazzle the coffee cardamom flavor is my pick. Topped in a cup of hot coffee the fluff melts into something rich and divine while I sip and listen to jazz in the morning. Vermont Marshmallows Company is a special pick for autumn and helps to welcome in the cool weather this season.
