Time To Put On Your Cha-Cha Heels!

The free social dance party is back at Lincoln Center under a massive disco ball. Lincoln Center’s Summer For The City brings the groove outside for many styles of music and dance. Following are just a few select nights of music for you to don your favorite outfit, grab your partner’s hand and hit the sprawling dance floor under the lights fantastic.

Learn how to Bachata, Salsa, Lindy hop, Western swing, Tango, Disco, Freestyle, Ballroom, and more. All events begin with a quick dance tutorial before swinging into a full-blown dance party, featuring the hottest DJs and live musical bands.

Ultra Pride takes place on Thursday, June 23.

The evening starts with a “Burlesque House” dance lesson from choreographers Edie Nightcrawler and The Maine Attraction (Michel Gondry, MTV, The Latin Grammys, Lionel Richie and Lady Gaga). The talented duo will teach some of their favorite moves. The evening’s dance beat will be delivered by one of NYC’s finest DJ, Rissa Garcia, who is one of our locals from Cielo, Good Room, Output, and Avant Gardner.

Queen Esther presents The Black Rose of Texas featuring Kat Edmonson and Synead Cidney Nichols on Thursday, June 30th.

 A salute to Texas Swing with a free class that will teach you the basics of two-step and swing dancing. After that, put your freshly learned moves to use with vocalist Queen Esther, joined onstage by the performance artist Synead Cidney Nichols and the enchanting jazz singer Kat Edmonson, for a concert of Western Swing music in the spirit of the great Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys.

George Gee and his Make-Believe Ballroom Orchestra — Friday, July 1.

Ballroom Dancing — George Gee will bring a 20-piece Big Band of top NYC musicians performing a variety of dance music including foxtrots, waltzes, cha-chas, rhumbas, mambos, tangos plus a healthy dosage of their signature classic Swing Era musical favorites. Vocals provided by Mr. John Dokes.
