The Joyce Theatre in New York City presents the David Bowie Ballet, “Star Dust” with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, as part of their celebration of 25th year anniversary. The performance will also include the world premier of “WOKE” along with a compilation of repertory favorites and the New York City premier of “Bach 25”.
Two different programs are scheduled at The Joyce. Program A consists of the entire company with music by Johann Sebastian Bach as well as the tribute to the prolific and infamous artist/musician, David Bowie. The full company will take to the stage with high energy and athleticism as well as a visual display of both men who have inspired the creative world of music, design, performance and art.
Program B will present the world premier of “WOKE.” This piece is based on a reaction to today’s daily news. It’s also inspired by the current political climate from the perspective of today’s generation. The performance includes a composition of music by U2 and various recording artists with excerpts from the song, “Rise.”
Complexions was founded in 1994 by Dwight Rhoden and legendary dancer Desmond Richardson. Today, it represents one of the most recognized and respected performing arts around the globe.
