You can likely find a restaurant with a stunning view of Central Park or of the city as a whole, but I’ll stake my claim instead on the spectacular view of the Hudson River, Little Island, and Freedom Tower from Miru‘s perch atop Pier 57 in Chelsea. Watch the sun set amid its ultra-modern, airy decor as you savor ultra-fresh and elevated Japanese cuisine. This year, the July 4th fireworks will be presented from lower Manhattan’s west side, so make your reservation at Miru now for after sunset. This is fantastic date-night destination, a place for special celebrations, or a must-try restaurant for foodies in general.

On some nights, Miru features a DJ for live music, and the restaurant has a sushi and cocktail bar, too. Miru is spacious and the service is excellent and unhurried, so dining here feels like a culinary respite or treat. Diners will love catching river breezes high above the Hudson River in post-prandial strolls around the top of Pier 57, taking in the Empire State Building, Whitney Museum, and more.
Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, Miru transforms into a rooftop lounge with curated vinyl and special cocktails, and on Thursday nights, you can savor special sushi tastings at the sushi bar. The NYC skyline from Miru is a breathtaking panorama any time, whether day or night.

Miru’s inspired menu is rife with thoughtful pairings, bright and unusual flavors, and elegant presentations, and appetizers are shareable. I highly recommend their Shishito Peppers with anchovy mayo and sea salt, which come in a bowl and are generously portioned.

Miru offers an artful dish for every palate: fresh hand-rolled sushi, sashimi, octopus, crispy rice, squash tempura with a yuzu ranch side, sizzling Wagyu Hangar Steak so soft and luxurious that is melts in your mouth, grilled caraflex cabbage, Amberjack with jalapeño, cilantro, and orange, buckwheat noodles served in a rich soy-dashi broth with seared tilefish and lobster-seafood sausage, chicken dishes, Smoked Kanpachi with jalapeño heat and citrus vibes, and other fish entrees that are delicate, cooked to perfection, and accompanied by perfect herb and vegetable accents.

If you’re inclined to share, the Hudson Valley Duck Teppanyaki and a Crispy Black Sea Bass served with a trio of sauces are both memorably shareable entrees.

Signature Sips and Sweets
Cocktails are equally inspired at Miru, and a few of them come in non-alcoholic versions, too. Signature Miru cocktails encompass the Nigori Noir, the Miso Old Fashioned, and the Matcha Muse. Sake-lovers will appreciate Miru’s extensive curated selection of bottles and customizable sake flights.

I absolutely cannot recommend the Matcha Crepe Cake highly enough! It’s truly heaven in a bowl. I fully intend to return to Miru with this particular dessert in mind – though everything else on offer is spectacular too.
