Buffalo Wild Wings Gets Nostalgic With Poppin’ Ranch

Poppin' Ranch

As the destination for my earliest (and arguably best) karaoke performances, Buffalo Wild Wings will always be near and dear to my heart. Over the years, the international chain has hosted many of my friends and family gatherings with copious amounts of saucy wings, crispy potato wedges, and perhaps one-too-many of those notorious blue cocktails.

Starting July 20th, Buffalo Wild Wings will have a new menu item for guests to try for a limited time. Poppin’ Ranch is a candy-like flavoring that combines the savory buttermilk flavor of ranch dressing with the fun of carbonated crystals that fizzle and pop in your mouth. For grown-ups who devoured pouches of Pop Rocks as a kid, this will feel like old times.

At 99 cents a pop, Poppin’ Ranch can be eaten straight out of the packet or used to zest up wings or other appetizers like macaroni and cheese or tater tots. The sizzling seasoning can also be mixed directly into dips as a flavor enhancer. If you go the wing route, I was advised by multiple sources to sprinkle a little between bites for the tastiest results.

The flavoring also makes for an interesting cocktail rimmer. The tangy treat would work well on a margarita or a Bloody Mary. If you’re looking for an excuse to try out some Poppin’ Ranch cocktail combinations, Labor Day is right around the corner!

Amy Hamblen

After spending over a decade in New York, Amy Hamblen is still impressively bad at giving directions around the city. Fortunately, she makes up for it with an abundance of solid happy hour recommendations. Amy is originally from Indiana, and whether or not her years spent covering the food and entertainment scene in NYC has earned her a seat at the table may be debatable, but it's of little consequence — she much prefers a stool at the bar.
