Must be the Season of the Picklewich

It’s almost that time of year, when the great Picklewich returns. On October 27, customers at Jimmy John’s will be able to order from six varieties of the fan-favorite sandwich that uses a scooped-out dill pickle instead of bread.Picklewiches, Jimmy Pickle Chips and Pickle Ranch

This year, two Picklewiches are making their comeback, the Turkey and the Vito, which is similar to an Italian sandwich with salami, capocollo, and provolone cheese. Newcomers include Ham, Roast Beef, Tuna, and Veggie. (Experts inform me that the Tuna may be the sleeper, but we’ll have to wait and see.)

In addition to the Picklewiches, the Pickle Jimmy Chips will be returning. This delicious snack reminds me of salt and vinegar chips, but with more of a pickle kick. A new dipping sauce will also be making an appearance on the menu: Pickle Ranch.

Demi LovatoThe hype machine for the Picklewich has been activated. Demi Lovato teamed up with Jimmy John’s to create a cheeky commercial nodding to her own comeback, and a PickleCon party was thrown at Lavan Midtown in Manhattan featuring pickle cocktails. I tried a few of the Picklewiches, and my personal fave was the Vito. The flavorful combination of savory cured meats, cheese, and briny flavor is the real dill. Good times were had, and I successfully resisted the temptation to snag a pickle pillow.

Pickle Bloody MaryStarting Friday, October 24, JJ Rewards members can get in on the pickle fun with early access to the pickle platform—and, let’s be honest—don’t things just taste better knowing you got to try them out before everyone else?

Amy Hamblen

After spending over a decade in New York, Amy Hamblen is still impressively bad at giving directions around the city. Fortunately, she makes up for it with an abundance of solid happy hour recommendations. Amy is originally from Indiana, and whether or not her years spent covering the food and entertainment scene in NYC has earned her a seat at the table may be debatable, but it's of little consequence — she much prefers a stool at the bar.
