Curated by Dr. Fatima Fahs, a board-certified dermatologist at Dermy Doc Box, the Spring Edition seasonal subscription box I received from Dermy Doc Box, priced at $54.99, was filled with six full-sized skincare products tailored for springtime skincare, along with exclusive discounts codes ranging from 15% to 25% off the purchase price. Keep reading to find out what I loved, what didn’t work for me, and why.
My #1 Favorite Product
I rarely review eyecare products because many eye gels and creams irritate my eyes and aren’t particularly beneficial. The PCA Ideal Complex Revitalizing Eye Gel in Dr. Fahs’ subscription box is a rare exception. Dr. Fahs included a pamphlet inside each box describing each product and when I read that this eye gel was gentle enough to apply to my eyelids, I knew I had to give it a trial run. Unlike many messy and runny eye creams, the PCA eye gel eye glided on smoothly, absorbing quickly into my eyelid skin and the entire eye area. I have not experience any irritation thus far and it appears to have diminished puffiness. A 20% off PCA sitewide purchase code was included with the box.
#2 Another Favorite
I’ve been a fan of EltaMd sunscreen for a long time. Because it is a respected, proven brand, I was happy to find EltaMd’s Skin Recovery Amino Acid Foaming Cleanser in the box. The pump applicator made it easy to dispense enough fragrance-free foam to gently cleanse my face and my skin did not feel taut or dry after cleansing. However, since I was only removing my daily application of tinted sunscreen, I could not judge how effective it is for removing foundation or heavy makeup. If you are seeking a gentle, soothing non-irritating gentle cleanser, this is a great choice. A 20 percent EMD discount code was included with the box.
#3 A Must Have Hydrating Serum
I’ve been wanting to try a Roc brand product for a long time because Roc is a highly respected company with clinically proven products. I loved that the included Roc Hydration + Serum is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. The booklet in the Spring Edition box stated the Hydration + Serum was inspired by facial fillers, utilizing 7 forms of hyaluronic acid and pro-collagen amino acids to plump and hydrate skin for 72 hours. Bear in mind that hyaluronic acid might plump up fine lines but it does not prevent skin from aging.
The literature included in my Dermy Doc Box recommended that one should apply products with hyaluronic acid to damp skin, so I applied the Roc Hydration + Serum after cleansing my skin and then dampening it. Did the serum make my skin look fresher and smoother? Yes! A 15% discount at Roc Skincare is included in the Spring Edition box.
#4 A Nice to Have Product
A product that is perfect for treating my rosacea skin condition is Peter Thomas Roth’s Therapeutic Sulfur Mask, a mask that was included in the Spring Edition box. Sulfur is commonly used to treat acne, rosacea, and oily skin; therefore, the sulfur mask isn’t suitable for every skin type. Sulfur products aren’t pleasant to use because sulfur produces an offensive “rotten egg” smell. However, The Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Mask is the pleasantest, and least offensive sulfur treatment I’ve ever used. Applied only to areas of my face that were irritated, it effectively calmed my skin and reduced redness. I would definitely consider purchasing this sulfur face mask in the future. A discount code for 20% off at Peter Thomas Roth is included in the Spring Edition box.
#5 A 3-in-1 Multitasking Product I Liked but Won’t Repurchase
Bioré is a respected quality brand and its 3-in-1 UV Aqua Rich Daily Facial Moisturizer is a multitasking moisturizer and makeup primer offering SPF50+ sunscreen protection. It left my skin feeling hydrated and did not leave a white cast. However, I am not likely to purchase it again because I prefer to use a tinted moisturizer and sunscreen product and this moisturizer is not tinted. If Bioré ever offers a tinted version of this product, I would definitely purchase it. A 20% off Aqua Rich coupon is included in the Spring Edition box.
#6 A Product I Could Not Use
The Bright Girl Day+Bright 24-hour Facial Moisturizer is a pH-balanced lightweight daily moisturizer. Unfortunately, I could not test this product because one of its ingredients is irritating to my sensitive skin. A coupon code of 25% off a DERMY total purchase is in included with the box.
If you prefer to pick your own products, Dermy Doc Box also offers a six product Build Your Own Box one-time option priced at $54.99.
Was the Dermy Doc Box a Hit or a Miss?
Is Dermy Doc Box worth the splurge? Overall, I’d say YES! Although there may be one or two products in every box that may not work for your skin type, (you can always gift them to your BFF!) this box more than pays for itself in terms of value. My $54.99 Spring Edition was filled with $264 worth of full-sized quality skincare products, along with generous discount coupon codes I could use to repurchase my favorites. The quality of the products in the box was excellent, including many respected brands I was already familiar with. Overall, a winner!
