Q&A with Bela Park, Brand Creator & Creative Lead for WOO:U

After attending the launch party for WOO:U, a new science-backed Korean skincare brand, the team at Beauty News NYC decided to get more information straight from the source. Our Q&A with Bela Park, Brand Creator & Creative Lead for WOO:U, gives you everything you could ever hope to know about the milky vibes-promoting skincare line.

Bela ParkWOO:U embraces the concept of “milky-dewy skin,” a trend that’s become increasingly popular in Korean beauty. How would you describe the milky skin philosophy, and what makes it different from other skincare trends?

In Korea, there’s a beautiful expression called “Milky-Dewy Skin.” It doesn’t refer to skin tone. Instead, it describes skin that looks calm, deeply hydrated, healthy, and naturally radiant—skin that appears nourished from within.

The idea also connects to the cultural meaning of milk in Korean beauty. Traditionally, milk has been associated with comfort, gentle care, and healthy-looking skin, making it much more than simply something you drink. That philosophy became the inspiration behind WOO:U.

What makes WOO:U different is that we didn’t want to simply create products that leave a temporary glow on the skin. We wanted to bring the philosophy of Korean skincare closer to our customers through texture.

In Korean skincare, the experience matters just as much as the results. The way a product feels on the skin, how comfortably it layers, and how consistently it supports the skin barrier are all part of achieving healthy skin.

That’s why our signature milky texture is at the heart of everything we create. It transforms the philosophy into something you can actually feel—from the very first touch to the final result. Rather than focusing only on what your skin looks like after application, WOO:U is designed to create a complete skincare experience that feels gentle, comforting, and trustworthy every step of the way.

What inspired the creation of WOO:U, and what gap did you hope to fill in today’s skincare market?

The name WOO:U is inspired by the Korean word ?? (uyu), meaning milk. In Korean culture, milk has long been associated with gentle care, comfort, and healthy-looking skin. That cultural idea became the starting point for the brand.

We saw an opportunity to make trusted Korean skincare feel more approachable, authentic, and enjoyable for a global audience. Rather than focusing only on ingredients or claims, we built WOO:U around the complete experience. Our signature milky textures translate Korean skincare philosophy into something customers can feel, from the very first touch to the final result.

To fill this gap, we wanted to offer more than products simply manufactured in Korea through outside OEM partners. WOO:U is developed and produced in our own state-of-the-art Korean laboratory and factory by our trusted in-house team, using our own facilities, quality standards, and processes. This direct control allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality Korean formulations while keeping the brand affordable and accessible.

Can you tell us about the hero ingredients found throughout the WOO:U collection and the benefits they provide for the skin?

The ingredients vary by product because each formula is designed for a specific concern, but the entire collection is connected by a focus on hydration, comfort, and healthy-looking skin.

Across the line, we use ingredients such as hyaluronic acid for hydration, peptides and collagen-focused ingredients for a smoother and more supple appearance, niacinamide and vitamin C for brighter and more even-looking skin, and PDRN in selected formulas to support a revitalized appearance.

Rather than building every product around the same hero ingredient, we pair targeted ingredients with the right texture and delivery experience for each formula. The ingredient story is important, but so is creating a product people will genuinely enjoy using consistently.

Every skincare line has a philosophy behind its formulations. What principles guide WOO:U when developing new products?

Our formulation philosophy begins with three ideas: the product should feel gentle, the texture should have a clear purpose, and the formula should earn trust through daily use.

We want each product to deliver effective hydration and targeted benefits without making the routine feel aggressive or overwhelming. We also place a great deal of importance on sensorial experience. The way a formula spreads, absorbs, layers, and leaves the skin feeling is considered from the beginning of development, not added as an afterthought.

That is why our core message is: “Milky by texture. Trusted by formula. Inspired by Korean beauty philosophy.”

Hydrated, healthy-looking skin is at the heart of the brand. What are your top tips for achieving that signature WOO:U glow?

The first tip is to be consistent rather than overly aggressive. A healthy-looking glow usually comes from maintaining hydration and comfort every day, not constantly changing products or over-exfoliating.

We recommend cleansing gently, applying hydrating products while the skin is still receptive to moisture, and layering from lighter to richer textures. A toner and serum can add lightweight hydration, while a cream helps seal in moisture and maintain comfort.

It is also important to adjust the routine based on how the skin feels. The WOO:U glow is not about looking overly shiny without actually feel healthy. It is about skin that appears calm, balanced, and nourished.

Which WOO:U product do you think best represents the brand, and what makes it so special?

The Milky Hydra Cream Toner best represents the WOO:U philosophy.

It combines the freshness and layering ability of a toner with the soft, comforting feel of a cream. That balance captures what we want the entire brand to represent: hydration that feels lightweight but still substantial, a texture that immediately communicates care, and a formula that can fit easily into an everyday routine.

It is also one of the clearest introductions to our signature milky texture.

For someone completely new to WOO:U, what would an ideal beginner’s skincare routine using the collection look like?

A simple WOO:U routine could begin with gentle cleansing, followed by the Milky Hydra Cream Toner to prepare and hydrate the skin.

Next, apply the Milky Dew Face Serum for an additional layer of lightweight moisture. The Milky Glow Eye Serum or Milky Miracle Dark Spot Serum can then be added depending on individual concerns.

Finish with the Milky Splash Soothing Cream during the day, or the Milky Rich Overnight Cream in the evening when the skin needs a richer layer of comfort. The routine is designed to be easy to understand, easy to layer, and adaptable rather than overly complicated.

Are there certain skin types or concerns that WOO:U products are especially well suited to?

WOO:U is designed for all skin types, with formulas that can be adapted through lighter or richer layers depending on individual skin needs.

The collection is especially well suited for skin that feels dehydrated, dry, dull, or uncomfortable, as hydration and skin comfort are central to the brand. Combination and oilier skin types may prefer lighter layers, while drier skin can build additional moisture with richer creams.

Individual products also support concerns such as uneven-looking tone, the appearance of dark spots, and targeted eye care. As with any skincare routine, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list and patch testing if your skin is especially sensitive or reactive.

Korean skincare is known for blending innovation with self-care rituals. How does WOO:U encourage people to make skincare a moment of wellness rather than just another step in their day?

For WOO:U, texture plays a major role in turning skincare into a moment of care.

Our milky textures are designed to feel creamy, calming, and reassuring as they move across the skin. That sensory experience naturally encourages people to slow down and notice how the product feels rather than rushing through the routine.

Even the packaging supports that idea. The clean visual language, soft colors, and soft-touch finish were created to make the experience feel warm, gentle, and personal from the moment the product is picked up.

Clean, gentle formulations are becoming increasingly important to consumers. What standards does WOO:U prioritize when developing its products?

At WOO:U, every product begins with one simple question: “Is this something we would genuinely want to use ourselves?”

We believe that if a product does not earn our own trust, it should not be introduced to our customers. That mindset guides every decision we make, from formulation and texture to quality control and the overall user experience.

A key difference for WOO:U is that our products are developed and manufactured in Korea in our own state-of-the-art laboratory and factory. Rather than relying on outside OEM partners, we work directly with our in-house team, facilities, quality standards, and production processes. This gives us greater control over every stage of development and allows us to maintain consistency, respond quickly to innovation, and create high-quality formulas at a more accessible price.

Ultimately, our goal is to introduce products that we truly believe in—products that feel gentle, perform beautifully, and earn trust from the very first touch.

Is there a product in the collection that you think deserves more attention or has become a personal favorite? We’d love to hear why.

A personal favorite is the Milky Miracle Dark Spot Serum because it shows that targeted skincare can still feel gentle, approachable, and sensorial.

Dark spot products are often presented in a very clinical or aggressive way. This serum brings that concern into the WOO:U world through a thoughtful formula, an easy-to-use applicator, and a texture that fits comfortably into a daily routine.

It represents the balance we are always looking for: targeted care without losing the softness and pleasure of the overall brand experience.

Looking ahead, what can Beauty News NYC readers look forward to from WOO:U? Are there any exciting launches or innovations on the horizon?

Looking ahead, our priority is to continue building trust through both formulation and experience. As WOO:U grows, we feel a strong responsibility to remain committed to formulas that are worthy of the loyal community choosing to follow the brand.

Because our products are developed and manufactured in Korea, we also have the opportunity to introduce new Korean skincare innovations in a way that feels easy, friendly, and approachable. We plan to gradually expand the collection with new targeted products, innovative textures, and Korean skincare routines that address a wider range of everyday skin needs.

We already have several ideas and development plans in progress, and we are genuinely excited about what is ahead. No matter how the line evolves, our focus will remain the same: creating trustworthy formulas and meaningful skincare experiences that our customers can continue to feel confident in.
