Clean off from a dirty hike with handmade soaps from Brooklyn’s own Mater Soap. Founded by Addison Walz, a woman with a background in sculpture, natural dyes, and textiles that inform the Mater aesthetic, according to the Mater Soap website. Mater Soap is a chic cold-press company that focuses on celebrating the body and plant based skin care without icky SLS, parabens, synthetics or fragrances. Every ingredient plays a role in the larger story of Mater products.
Holy Soap from $13.00
Worship your body with Holy soap. This organic coconut, olive, aloe and jojoba blend contains lavender to soothe and promote healing, palo santo to balance and uplift and patchouli that’s anti-aging and anti-fungal. It fills up the bathroom with a powerful yet alluring aroma that lingers long after I step out of the shower.
Re-Bar from $30.00
Plastic-free clean comes in the form of Re-bar, a huge four week cured soap bar that dangles from a natural coconut husk rope. Re-Bar repurposes leftover soap bits from other Mater bar soaps and is a olive oil and coconut oil based cleanser. I love the herbal scent and rainbow colors that appear and disappear the more I use the soap. It lasts for about 3 months making it a stellar bang for your buck, while using high quality suds to get squeaky clean.
Mater Salt Soak from $12.00
For rest and relaxation I scoop Mater Salt Soak into my bath water. Mater Salt Soak contains a serene blend of rose, lavender buds, citrus, and high quality salts in a reusable jar. I use the salt soak on the first day of my cycle to ease cramps and curate a state of bliss even amidst bloated and bloody pains. Each jar yields six to ten baths making it a delightful ritual on my self care Sundays. Happy bathing with Mater Soap this autumn season!
