4 Seasons with Lush Cosmetics

Lush Cosmetics has been one of my favorite brands since I was a teenager, and Lush has captured my heart time and time again by releasing brand-new items and cult classics. Here you can find your perfect product for every season:

Winter: Dreamland Gift Set and Intergalactic Shower Gel

Winter is the season of flurries and frosty air, which can only mean long nights in the coziest of places: the bathtub. I found serenity in the Dreamland Gift Set and Intergalactic Shower Gel.

The Dreamland Gift Set focuses on lavender clouds and sleepy showers. A glass container near my bathtub contains Sleepy Bear Bath Bomb, Sleepy Bubble Bar, Sleepy Body Lotion, and Sleepy Shower Gel. Notes of lavender, tonka beans, and oatmeal impart a sweet-yet-sophisticated bedtime scent that lasts until the wee hours of chilly mornings. For more herbal energy, I use Twilight Bath Bomb and Twilight Body Spray to welcome in 8 hours of sleep with lavender flower and lavender oil infusions.

When I am cozy in bed and my alarm clock goes off, it is a struggle. Thankfully I can shake off winter blues with Intergalactic Shower Gel. The color of cosmic seas with flecks of biodegradable glitters, the Intergalactic Shower Gel is scented with awakening peppermint and tart grapefruit to invigorate the senses. Keep this in your fridge to add another layer of sensational cooling in a steamy shower before heading off to work, school, or honestly, back to bed this winter.

Spring: Hair Collection

Green buds pop up from the frozen ground and it is time to unleash the beautiful mane under the wool hat. My hair hibernation ends when I step into the shower with a Co-Wash in tropical scents.

The Mango Co-Wash is softened with mango butter and oils with a hint of thyme and orange oil for growth. Orange suds are gentle enough to detangle before going in with a conditioner. The scent is uplifting and leaves my curls smelling like a fruit smoothie.

In need of extra slip? The Banana Co-Wash is the answer with ethyl macadamiate that protects hair from heat and humidity and fresh bananas that give a protein boost with every wash. Frizz is gone and my strands are nourished with this fruity blend.

To build my hair’s protein up I dose my locks with #Gains Protein Spray. Its vivid purple hue is great for blondes, though it goes away once it melts into my curls. The formula is made from fresh lemon juice, clove bud oil, and vanilla, as well as others like alfalfa juice, jackfruit puree, and fresh wheatgrass juice. Just like a juice shoot but for my head, and the best part is the bubblegum fragrance this spray leaves behind!

Who doesn’t love a slick-back bun? I sure do, and they become an easy go-to style when I apply Punkawalop Matte Hair Clay. Created in Japan with carnauba waxes and olive oil, this hair clay keeps flyaways at bay. I melt a bit into my hands and style it into my hair. The wax freezes my style in place through rain, shine, and even a HIIT day at the gym. Get your hands on Punkawalop Matte Hair Clay for the hairstyles of your spring dreams!

Summer: Refresh a la Natural

Sticky and hot days in NYC never feel good… unless you’re in your apartment with the AC blowing. Lush has solutions with these four products designed to keep the body comfortable and cool:

An all-over spray can be found with the Breath Of Fresh Air Toner. A seawater spray infused with soothing aloe and lavish rose essence, this works in harmony to hydrate any skin type. I love how it makes
my skin dewy without becoming oily, and will even spritz some in my hair to refresh my coils. Place this in the fridge for an extra cooling session during heat waves in the AM, PM, or anytime you need a boost.

To lock in that moisture apply the healing Dream Cream Body Lotion. Made from oat milk as the base and infused with lavender, rose, and chamomile — Dream Cream is the lotion for long days after being in the sun. Sensitive skin not worry since this gentle formula is safe enough for even my fickle skin with allergy flare-ups.

Toes come out to play in the summer, whether in strappy sandals for date night or barefoot on the beach… either way, you should grab the Pumice Power Foot Soap. This is an all-natural method for cleansing and softening cracked heels and dry feet with nourishing orange oil, which combats odor, and the pumice powder exfoliates away dead skin. Run your feet under water and scrub away in circular motions with the foot soap until the desired results are achieved. I keep this in my shower all season long and it lasts until the first leaves change colors.

Extra sweaty bodies fear not, Silky Underwear Dusting Powder has come to the rescue. This jasmine forward powder is made with cocoa butter with moisturizing properties and a base of cornstarch powder. This is constantly in my seasonal rotation for sweaty areas like behind my neck, sides of my arms, and even a bit on my feet before I slip into sneakers. A little goes a long way on the body, and the same goes for linens. Yes, you can apply this dusting powder to your bed sheets for a jasmine aroma for a sultry night-in while drinking ice water and cuddling up with a summer romance novel. So long, sweat!

Autumn: Japanese-inspired bathing

Saying goodbye to summer can be sad, so cheer yourself up with “ippuku” also known as – according to Lush – “the simple act of taking a brief break throughout the day.” The Ippuku collection comes in two versions: the warming set (Ippuku Dan) and the cooling set (Ippuku Ryo).

For those who are constantly cold, missing sunshine, or need to get blood rushing: the Ippuku Dan. The set contains a trio of bath bombs. The Hibana Ippuku Bath Bomb has notes of smoky and sweet tobacco, vanilla, and tonka bean. The fragrance is an autumnal night by the bonfire in the bathtub. Hinata Ippuku Bath Bomb, with a classic apple pie profile of cozy clove, cinnamon, and spicy apple, is reminiscent of Thanksgiving. San San Ippuku Bath Bomb has precious oils like davana and buchu while coloring the waters a warm pink hue. Ippuku Dan pairs well with a mystery book set in a New England town and mulled wine or hot cocoa while soaking away the chill from outside.

For overheated bodies, fall sports players, or those who need a chill pill: the Ippuku Ryo. This set displays all the cool colors of white, blue, and green to impart a sense of serenity. Scents of a cool Fall night in a cedarwood forest with herbal eucalyptus and sweet peppermint can be found in the Fuurin Ippuku Bath Bomb. Or if citrus is more of your taste, Uchimizu Ippuku Bath Bomb is an uplifting choice with sparkling grapefruit, lemon, and calming chamomile. This bath bomb is a great choice after long days in the pumpkin fields or walking around a haunted house. For a duo blend of herbal and citrus, pop the Kokage Ippuku Bath Bomb in your tub. The fragrance is juniper berry, olibanum, and pink pepper which work in collaboration to create colorful waters and an apothecary scent that will ground you during the long nights.

Lush Cosmetics has a little bit of everything for everyone 365 days a year. Up next is their Valentine’s Day collection so stay tuned for that review soon, dear readers!
