Hair trends of 2024 call for protective styles and for the month of January I’ll be sporting passion twists. Their bouncy and carefree look grants me the freedom to do any one of my dozen New Year’s resolutions.
The key to this style is the preparation in the shower and blow drying. I achieved my look first by detoxifying my scalp with Fable & Mane’s SahaScalp™ Wild Ginger Purifying Scrub. The exfoliating salts and particles come in this fluffy paste, which I apply to my damp hair in sections. Once in my roots, I scrub until foam appears and rinse until my hair is clean and product-free. Key ingredients of neem and wild ginger combat flakes and build up on my scalp all while being a vegan and cruelty-free formula.
Continuing on with my hair routine, I mix and apply a homemade deep conditioner made of honey and Greek yogurt. I leave it in my shower and rinse it with cool water.
I have to prep my hair post-shower and MahaMane™ Leave-In Conditioner has been my go-to. This liquid leave-in is milky in consistency and hydrates my coils without weighing them down. MahaMane™ Leave-In Conditioner protects against 450 degrees of heat, and melts any knots while I detangle with my fingers. The end result: my hair is softened and ready for any products to layer on top. The best part is the herbal fragrance, which is uplifting and lingers on my locks for days. Fable & Mane was created by sibling duo Akash & Niki Mehta to bring Indian hair practices to the mainstream. I have to try their award-winning hair oil next!
Blow drying does not have to be a headache or a war with my hair thanks to RevAir. A revolutionary technology in hair care, this reverse hairdryer sucks in locks and dries them in under a minute. I had the pleasure of testing out the RevAir Total Package and can confirm this is the one hair dryer I will be using at home. The RevAir has seven settings with the highest going up to 220 degrees, which is way lower than the typical 450 degrees, and has various suction strengths for a myriad of curl patterns and hair densities.
I dry my hair with the Bundle Up towel and catch any excess water before I begin, and section my hair with the Up for Grabs Sectioning Clips. I detangle with The Wright Comb, which has a large tooth comb that is great for fluffing my afro on natural hair days.
I set the timer and began putting my hair into the RevAir. It was pretty foolproof in use, but I realized I achieved the best results by moving the nozzle side to side. This assisted in getting my roots really dry and stretched out. I repeated this whole process with one hand as I scrolled on my phone, and after 20 minutes my hair was completely dry. I detangled any small knots and twisted my hair up for the evening. RevAir is a product that every hair type can use, but is especially great for your curly girl friends. I used RevAir on my nieces who are six and four and there were no tears or fights as I dried their baby strands in under thirty minutes each. They loved the results and all the fun styles they could create with stretched hair. As for me though, I’m off to get my passion twists!
