Double, Double, Toil & Trouble with The Potion Studio

Spooky season is in the air and that means magical spells to take care of my beloved hair. What will I use…? Well, only the best from The Potion Studio. A favorite in my hair care collection, I had to test out more of their collection because I knew I would love it. And after using these products, I did!

Moisturizing is a must for this chilly time of year, so the Monoi Mango Moisturizer is constantly in my locks. Made from rich butters and oils (Monoi, Mango and Shea Butters, and Babassu Oil) and scented with a nutty, warm vanilla, this vegan formula is a mainstay in my curly routine. I apply while my hair is damp and breathe in the sweet smell, which puts me in a cozy state of bliss.

My curls soak it up and I grab the Rib Brush to smooth in the cream and define my curls (no gel needed). This comb has flexible teeth that catch every strand and break up each knot, leaving my coils looking bouncy and impeccable.

Once my hair is dry and I head to bed, I refresh in the morning with a spritz of water and fluff with the Mini Comb. This multicolored miniature pick is easy for on-the-go in my purse, backpack, or even pocket if I’m rushing out the door. No complaints to be found here – only volume and compliments like, “Where did you get your pick?!” from classmates and fellow cafe-dwellers.

Lastly, this lovely brand included an Essentials Circle Tote Bag, which yes, I’ve been wearing everyday when I’m feeling more lax or running to theater practice. My friend commented (and I quote) “Girllll your bag is SO CUTE!!!” All I could do is smile and agree; this tote is meant to stand out and show out.

I have to give back by showing some love to Miss Aziza, the founder and owner of The Potion Studio. Here are her answers to some of my most pressing questions (because we take curls very seriously around here):

Q:<strong>What inspo drove you to create these products, especially the leave-in that doubles as a moisturizer?
A: I’ve always been a fan of versatile products. There’s this notion in the beauty industry that we need a variety of different products for every little thing. But I’ve always thought differently. Why clutter our shelves and routines when we can simplify and streamline? That’s what inspired me to create products like our leave-in that also functions as a moisturizer. I’m a firm believer in the power of potent ingredients that can do double-duty. We’ve been conditioned to think that our hair needs a complicated cocktail of products, but in reality, that’s not the case. I wanted to challenge that notion. My approach is all about embracing simplicity and multifunctionality. With our Monoi Mango Moisturizer, you get the best of both worlds – effective, easy, and efficient care for your hair & skin. Why make things more complicated when we can keep it straightforward and effective?

Q: Where do you see Potion Studio going in the next month, year, five years?
A: In the next month, we’re launching new Potions and getting feedback from our awesome community. Over the next year, we want to get even closer to our customers and build a stronger community. In five years, The Potion Studio will be known and available globally. We’re going to keep shaking up the haircare industry and making our community even more fantastic. It’s all about keeping it simple and connecting with all of you.

Q: How is your experience as a BIPOC woman running a business to cater to people like yourself?
A: Being a BIPOC woman running a business in the haircare industry has been an incredible journey. The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m deeply grateful for the support we’ve received. It warms my heart to connect with people who share similar experiences and hear more about their struggles with haircare and wellness.

At The Potion Studio, we’re committed to offering solutions and listening to our customers’ wants and needs. It’s not just about selling products; it’s about addressing the real challenges and concerns our customers face. I’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of representation in the beauty industry. I’m thrilled to be part of this journey, helping people embrace their natural beauty, and providing them with the products and support they deserve. We’re here to make a positive impact and empower our customers to feel confident in their unique, beautiful selves.

Q: What is in store for Potion Studio for expanding products, collabs, etc.
A: We’ve got big plans for The Potion Studio in terms of expanding our product range and collaborating with other creatives. We’re passionate about not just hair care but also the broader concept of hair wellness and lifestyle, because we believe they go hand in hand.

Take our Essentials Pouch, for example. We’re all about products that are not only effective but also aesthetically beautiful and highly functional. We love the idea of items that can serve multiple purposes, simplifying our daily routines. It’s all about merging beauty and practicality.

In the future, we’re excited to collaborate with other creatives who share our values and vision. Together, we aim to develop even more multi-functional products that align with our core beliefs. We want to continue offering innovative solutions that make life easier and more beautiful for our community. So, stay tuned for exciting collaborations and versatile products from The Potion Studio!

Happy Halloween and gather the curl magic with The Potion Studio!
