Correlated with the sign of Aquarius, the zodiac’s 11th ‘House of Joy’ is associated with a mixed bag of life issues: groups and collective belonging, friends, social awareness, humanitarianism, science, technology, charity, earned wealth, the elite, adopted/step children, philanthropy, hopes, wishes, the future, airplanes, varicose veins, electricity, galaxies, ballots, advisors and unexpected gains. Co-ruled by ‘Great Awakener’ Uranus and ‘Great Malefic’ Saturn, the 11th house oversees the stage of spiritual development about mastering desires (5th house) in order to consciously participate in the universe and give our ‘gifts’ away (11th house). Hailed as an astrological realm of boundless possibilities, the 11th house is where personal dreams and aspirations converge with the collective, aided and abetted by the transformative power of human connection. As the house of group belonging, the 11th not only signifies the way you participate in groups, but your underlying motivations and objectives with respect to group dynamics.
Also known as the House of ‘Bona Fortuna’ (Good Fortune), House of ‘Good Spirit,’ and ‘House of Genius,’ for years, astrologers have called the 11th the ‘luckiest’ house of the zodiac. Classic astrologers went as far as envisioning a rainbow and pot of gold. Elevated above Earth, heading toward the Midheaven, a planet on the 11th is always on its way up. Evolutionary astrologer Dane Rudhyar writes of the 11th that it is here, “the power of society, of the collectivity or the group, is released through the individual …or more specifically, through the activities the individual performs through the social unit.” Sounds very fitting for the revolution, indeed, but I have a slight suspicion some of our readers might be secretly thinking, what’s the catch?
Before we get into our 11th house wounds, let’s dissect the 5th house/11th House polarity, aka the Heart-axis, Ego-axis, Individual-Group axis or God-Human axis! The 11th house screams ‘community above all things,’ rejecting its opposite in the form of the 5th house mentality ‘individuality above all things.’ According to some astrologers, the 5th is where we give love, and the 11th is where we receive it. While the 5th house is personal and pleasure-oriented, corresponding to romance and parenting – the 11th is Universal and detached, corresponding to enlightenment and kundalini rising. Sorry artists! The 5th house’s creative self-expression, individuality and playfulness are the Aquarian Age shadow. If the Leo-ruled 5th house is big rockstar energy, the Aquarius-ruled 11th house is the cosmic download.

Whether these magnificent, swirling, ever-fluctuating celestial bursts materialize via activism, digital platforms, or IRL communities, the 11th house reflects how we fit into the broader social fabric. Essentially, once we’ve arrived at this stage of soul evolution beyond survival, individuation, career-building, sexual intimacy and spiritual expansion, we arrive at a place in our lives where we begin to observe our loftiest and most long-term dreams manifest… or…fall flat like deflated balloons of hot air. In this ripe stage of life, we’ve ideally developed an aerial bird’s-eye view of matters, one which enables us to catch a glimpse of the real-world legacy we are building with a measure of enlightened detachment.
It is here that we are poised to give away our 11th house gift, without strings attached of course, in alignment with a shared vision of the future. Sounds peachy, right? Perhaps for some. For others, the experience may feel more like rejection, irrelevance or exclusion. While we might be the boss of our own high-grossing company, how the community feels about us – and indeed, our friends, who are more likely to tell us the truth of our reputation straight up – is quite another story. Perhaps we have our Lilith in the 11th, and we are feared or seen as a dangerous influence within our networks. If we’ve taken on and internalized any rejection we may have experienced, we will be prone to stop attempting to ally with others and approach healthy 11th house experiences. And yet, the electric pulse of Uranus screams, raise your freak flag high! Don’t run with the pack! Carve out your own lane!
While it’s easy to get locked in the addictive shadow realms of the 5th house pleasure labyrinth (take it from a 5th house Scorpio Sun!), when sexuality can go beyond survival or procreation, it becomes Uranian – creative, electric and oriented to the 11th house of friends, networks, future, technology, dreams, sisterhood, mob mentality, group-think, revolution and liberation. Speaking to the 11th house emphasis on friendship, Alice Sparkly Cat, author of Postcolonial Astrology, quotes the book Joyful Militancy. “Friendship is the root of freedom,” write authors Carla Bergman and Nick Montgomery, in fact, “Freedom and friendship used to mean the same thing: intimate, interdependent relationships and the commitment to face the world together.” Speaking of utopianism, Joyful Militancy also notes how “‘Freedom’ and ‘friend’ share the same early Indo-European root: *fri-, or *pri-, meaning ‘love.’” Opposing the 5th house of romance, it’s clearly an axis that refers to some type of love, informs Sparkly Cat. Which is why many of us tend to feel…some type of way.
Whereas the 10th house or ‘Midheaven’ of Public Career Destiny is about taking on and utilizing our power in the world, if this is done right, in the 11th house we both give back and reap the fruits of our labor. For some, this looks like big circles and big checks! In fact, there is a direct correlation between wealth and the 11th house. Ask yourself: how do my work goals affect my social life? Not to be confused with the 2nd house of earned income, wealth acquired through the 11th is more like a winning lottery ticket. Hence, the house of unexpected games and unconditional love. Even so, a trine between planets in the 2nd (house of money) and the 11th (house of philanthropy) can make quite the impact on our bank balance if we play our cards right. Astrologer Susan Miller notes that for the self-employed folks of the bunch, the 11th house governs profits earned over the previous year or more. What’s the deeper meaning? Once we stop needing to be the chosen one or center of attention, we can more gracefully play our part in the exquisitely chaotic cosmic soup. It’s lonely at the top, but life is not a solitary path. In the 11th house, we are asked to pay it forward. Often, it is the Uranian conflicts of midlife that drive us to release our 5th house creativity and self-expression into the whole world – but this time as a genuine gift.
Here again we must emphasize how Uranus and the 11th house are fundamentally linked to the transpersonal upper half of the zodiac wheel. Astrologer Dana Gerhardt writes, “Opposite the 5th, that sandbox of childlike innocence and fantasies of our specialness, the 11th house describes our first experience of tribal society, the playground where we meet the world.” Think collective breakthroughs occurring in different parts of the globe simultaneously. Uranian genius cannot and must not be patented or trademarked; its caliber of brilliance manifests in the world contemporaneously in the collective, at the exact moment humanity can rise to the occasion. If one is struggling to discover what one has to give in this lifetime, one must dig deep into the realms of the 5th house of pleasure polarity, knowing and feeling that not only does desire churn the world, but conscious pleasure directs us to purpose. In addition to knowing the zodiac sign in which your 11th house falls (delineated below in our astro-insights to follow), knowing the planets within and aspects to our 11th 11th house is another layer of critical information. If you were so blessed to have benefic planets Jupiter or Venus in the 11th, they would each in their own special way amplify your wishes and jet-power your dreams. In fact, Jupiter is said to ‘rejoice’ in the house of shared resources and beneficial networks.

Keep in mind there is more than one system through which astrologers map the houses, in addition to a plethora of approaches as to their interpretation. In what modern astrologers commonly refer to as the Natural House System, Saturn and Aquarius co-rule the 11th. According to the ancient ‘Planetary Joys’ system used during the Hellenistic period, Jupiter, the planet of abundance and cohesion, rejoices in the 11th house. Whatever the schema used, the joy of Jupiter in the 11th feels palpable. For one, the list of celebrities with Jupiter in the 11th swells to include such illustrious figures as Frida Kahlo, Prince, Elvis, Steve McQueen, Anne Hathaway, Penelope Cruz and Milla Jovovich. When Jupiter (The Great Benefic) inflates this native’s sense of possibility around networks and collective belonging, it often results in wealth, wish fulfillment and mega success. Making money from more than one source, aided by friends and lovers, for this Jupiter hard work pays dividends. At their best working with a team or community, this native’s success isn’t luck, but rather, a genuine belief that others value their presence and collaboration yields abundance. With a future full of more allies than obstacles, Jupiter in the 11th affords a natural permission to take up space and an optimism around human connection that is contagious and self-fulfilling.
According to Alice Sparkly Cat, “Jupiter is the sugar daddy who puts a feast in front of you,” and “He doesn’t care if you’re hungry.” On the flip side, the list of celebrities with Saturn (The Great Malefic) in the 11th house curiously seems to include all of our contemporary super villains: Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Charles Manson to name a few. While Jupiter typically spells ‘feast’ and Saturn ‘famine,’ there are no good or bad astrological placements. Contrary to popular belief, working with astrology is not, to quote Steven Forrest, like “having Superman’s home phone number.” In fact, the future-casting we are doing with these tools doesn’t even unfold out in the world. Rather, when we consult the zodiac, we are predicting the weather of our inner terrain, not the outer one. While fatalism and fortune-telling are a dramatic part of our shared astrological history, “The planets hold half the cards, you hold the rest. Choices you make within the astrological environment determine what actually happens to you,” writes Forrest in The Changing Sky. Astrology is much less about fate than your freedom to grow and evolve, to learn from past mistakes and make better, more fulfilling decisions.
Trauma Signature or Liberation?
The impact of Uranus, the 11th house and Aquarius serves as both a force of liberation and a trauma-signature in our natal chart. As a source of regenerative healing, doing the deeper Uranian work involves realizing that it may no longer be in our best interest to expend valuable internal resources to repress painful memories. Stressful aspects from Uranus or planets in Aquarius/11th house often indicate long-term or prior life memories with such tremendous impact that they have arrested development. If Uranus is the wake-up call of the zodiac, then it is often through our most poisonous of experiences that we plant the seeds of liberation. The key is a shift in perspective toward non-duality. Have we become wedded to our pain and disenfranchisement? The psychology of the soul begs: what if there were no self to suffer the hurt? It begins with expanding to embrace the grace of the divine, of no-thing. While in the 5th we fuel the inner flame of creative passions, in the 11th we court liberation by ego-death.

To explore the nature of 11th house wounds, I’ll reflect on my own cluster of planets gracing the traditional house of joy. With my Dragon’s Head (Soul Evolution), Chiron (Wounded Healer), Lilith (Disavowed Feminine) and Chariko (Graceful Spinner) in the 11th house, I am weaving pain into power and moving from Black Sheep to belonging. Given my nodal orientation (Dragon’s Head in the 11th/Dragon’s Tail in the 5th), this is a lifetime about ‘Taming the Monster Dragon Ego,’ and releasing my gifts without expectation. Having Chariklo, Wounded Healer Chiron’s lesser-known wifey, in the 11th means I am a space-holder in community that gives others permission to be their unique selves! I am learning to come in from the cold and serve as an embodied voice for radical, revolutionary change. Being myself without apology, I am understanding my unique role in the greater collective and surrendering to spinning grace. I no longer let my need to be accepted cloud my discernment. I am learning to let others earn my trust. Key friendships (11th house) benefit me in maturity. If you’re curious about your own Chariklo placement, sign up for a Graceful Spinner Forecast to receive a free personalized report.
While the above paragraph reflects a conscious and high-minded understanding of my 11th house signature in this lifetime, how I came to that comprehension wasn’t quite so poetic or redemptive. During many a grueling existential crisis around my community role, I was cancelled, ostracized by former friends and scapegoated for the evils of society. If you’re a woman, a witch, a wizard, a free-thinker – you also very much know the tension held between the individuating spirit (11th/Uranus) and the consensus reality (10th/Saturn). Whether vacillating between creativity and madness, doing regression work or experiencing flashes of cosmic insight – the truth is what often follows periods of spiritual illumination is emotional and cultural isolation from the mainstream. And yet, pretending to fit in leads to a much worse feeling of alienation. If you have ever felt ostracized, bullied or violated for ‘heretical’ ideals, you are not alone. Too many brilliant souls have been tortured for daring to have an original view. To individuate toward one’s indwelling genius is a treacherous path, breeding insecurity and resistance in most.
Just as the 11th house shows us our allies and the comforts of shared experience (Aquarius), we inevitably always end up bumping up against the limits (Saturn) of group belonging. If it’s the most future-oriented house one asks, why does its social web feel so sticky with the past? If the 11th house encompasses lucky breaks, pennies on the sidewalk and lottery wins, the inclusion of friends as natural benefactors escalates the vision to a utopian fever pitch. But the truth is not everyone experiences their friend circle as being full of goodwill, ready to help whenever they’re in need, or resourced enough to be in overflow. In the aftermath of cancel culture, take a quick look around the world, and you might observe how often social networks form around hatred of a common enemy. Like the crack of community organizing, hatred gives us an instant sense of connectedness laced with a dose of dopamine and adrenaline! Hatred’s raw sensory pleasure creates intensity that mistakes arousal for joy. When shared hatred says you belong, ask yourself: are you thinking independently or acting tribally? While the ego swells with certainty when scaffolded with defined opposition (the enemy), the mature expression of the 11th house cosmic collective consciousness says living as a radical soldier saint requires forgiveness and an understanding that suffering begins in the mind. Even if it is flushed by the rush of collective anger, the real enemy is usually within.

What happens when the group, or better yet the next generation, turns a critical eye on our behavior? When we discover that much of the solidarity we trusted is built upon polarizing hatred of a caricatured and despised other? When we discover that we are not a happy cohesive whole, we are either ‘out’ or ‘in.’ As astrologer Dana Gerhardt writes, perhaps Modern astrology has left the 11th house “stripped of its happy fairy wings!” Lest we forget, “The 11th symbolizes the social codes that bind a society and the revolutionary zeal that breaks it apart,” informs Gerhardt.
Maybe some of us old and salty millennials feel like ‘friends’ and ‘agape’ are just euphemisms spit from the mouths of babes wanting something for free – sex, help with homework, an unofficial therapy session, a free pass on rent, a lighter they won’t ever give back. Maybe we feel like ‘community’ is diabolical double-speak in an environment built on the sweat and tears of the most disadvantaged of society, where power and money are the unspoken bottom line, where smiles and complacency are enforced through violence. If you answered yes to any of the above, you’ve begun to understand just some of the confusing ‘garage sale’ of matters tied to the 11th house. This returns us to the fact of its seemingly contradictory co-rulership involving Aquarius (shock tactics/change) and Saturn (limitation/structure/law).
“Making friendships is about world building,” writes Alice Sparkly Cat. And because the 11th house rules hope, friends and grace (in that order of importance) we can surmise that the three are all interrelated. Add to that concepts like fellowship, equality, fraternity and mutual aid. Justyna of Girl and Her Moon further spices up the 11th house pot when she writes that it “reflects the types of people we tend to attract to our lives to support our evolution.” With the beauty and warmth of platonic relationships as pillars, the 11th house swells to encompass all of our casual acquaintances, contacts, associations and indeed networking in general. The key is that people are gathering together for a mutual goal involving social good, although ‘good’ is sometimes less easy to define than we think.
Likewise, difficult 11th house transits aren’t necessarily about losing friends so much as realizing who was never really a friend to begin with. But here’s the catch! We also need to own up to our issues and clean our side of the street. If we are to have frustrations around 5th house issues seeded in childhood that we can’t shake – memories of exclusion, feeling alienated from romance or stunted in our pursuit of pleasure – these same energies translate into our social networks, cloying at us like hungry ghosts as we try to make and maintain friendships. While the rules of friendship (what rules?) are certainly less clear than, say the rules of dating and mating, we are social creatures and must make our way nonetheless. Alice Sparkly Cat relates, “There is no legal foundation that defines friendship, but you still make friends. You barely have time to do so and you make friends.” If romantic love is like a potted rose, platonic love is like wildflowers emerging out of concrete.

Gerhardt further complicates our understanding of the 11th house, noting, “Planets or transits through this house do not always signal a particular delight in saving humanity, joining groups or even sharing good times with friends.” Even when she worked with clients whose 11th house was ‘blessed’ with so-called benefic planets like Jupiter or Venus, many of them “Often felt lost and unhappy in social situations,” writes Gerhardt, adding that 11th house memories often reflect, for better or worse, “that first experience of a social unit, one’s family of origin.” Yikes! While many of us grew up feeling relationally stunted by distant father figures, the truth is that even the top-down cruelty of oligarchy’s modern overlords pales in comparison to the species of fatherhood role-modeled by 11th house co-rulers Uranus and Saturn.
You don’t need a PDH in Greek Mythology to recognize that the origin stories of our 11th house planetary odd couple hardly scream happy, healthy or holy like we’ve envisioned the Aquarian Age. For one, what the heck does cannibalism have to do with the promise of an enlightened, unified tribe of noble heart-centered beings? You don’t have to read between the lines to see that Uranus and Saturn were locked in never-ending conflict. Uranus eats his children; his son Saturn escapes and overthrows his own Father. Saturn is hard reality; Uranus is electric inspiration and lofty ideals. Saturn is the establishment— Uranus the lone wolf or rebel tribe that disapproves. Uranus breaks through the boredom, but Saturn resists or co-opts the movement. Ultimately, it is this very tension which makes our 11th house splendors much less predictable than we’d like.
Always the bustling hub of innovation, in the 11th house, future-forward technologies take root as new paradigms emerge which shift the boundaries of traditional thinking. Pushing us to join with others to make a positive impact in the world around us, closely enmeshed with the 11th focus on community and collective empowerment is its association with philanthropy and social justice. When we’re on high, 11th house projects very much feel like gaining access to a wellspring of cosmic energy that propels us towards the realization of our most ambitious visions. ‘Power in numbers,’ shouts the 11th! But what about when groups collapse and allegiances shift?

One a good day, your innovative ideas make you an inspiration to the collective; on a bad one, the same genius gets you shunned. “There are no parades for being different; individuality is death to the group,” affirms Gerhardt, writing that “The too rigid community makes it impossible to individuate. The too individualistic society makes for a dangerous, unstable world.” Eventually, Saturn too gets eaten by his own son. Likewise, many of us with a lot of planets in Aquarius or the 11th, let’s not even get into squares or oppositions, may go through life experiencing more social rejection and suffering than we do rainbows and windfalls.
Ironically, the phrases ‘pack animal’ and ‘lone wolf’ seem to be used interchangeably in reference to the mighty 11th house. We don’t enter collective eden to eat the apple out of temptation; we enter to upset the apple cart! Ideally, we then can find a bunch of people to help us collect the apples and start a juice enterprise. When we fail to cultivate authenticity and generosity in the spirit of collaboration, well then our end result looks less like a rainbow and more like being disowned by your own influencer daughter (Elon Musk Saturn in the 11th house) or your ex-wife donating $436 million in damage control to assuage the masses (Jeff Bezos, also Saturn in the 11th). More often than not, it’s hardly one of either extreme.
With conscious ownership of your 11th house placements, planets or points comes a commitment to being as brilliant as you are detached. Socially wired to a fault, but in your clique, non-conformity is the glue! An activated 11th house means you’re going steady with the zeitgeist. Organizing your social life around disruption, rather than tradition, your tribe must operate outside of conventional channels. Steady companionship be damned; these are the friendships that feel more like collaborations or conspiracies than steady companionship! When the 11th house is dominant in a chart, you naturally seek out and align with groups who share your vision of a better tomorrow (Uranus). And yet, once the collective begins to inevitably calcify into its own orthodoxy (Saturn), you start to feel caged in. Allergic to stagnation, you might find yourself bouncing once the group has stopped questioning itself. And wondering what’s over the next rainbow, and the next, and the next. Uranus doesn’t give us answers, but rather, it questions everything.
Maybe you’re like me and have your Lilith in the 11th house of group belonging, which means you embody the collective shadow, having been scapegoated or ostracized within group dynamics. You know what it’s like to be the polarizing social revolutionary, unafraid to speak uncomfortable truths, unwilling to build community on a bed of lies. Because seeking the ‘perfect’ group or society comes with much disillusionment, sometimes our greatest 11th house resource is immunity to peer pressure. Once friendships are truly based on radical honesty, we can refine and define a more authentic, unrestricted connection with the whole. Lest we find ourselves fluctuating between extreme involvement and sudden, complete isolation.
While we can’t protect ourselves from experiences of social rejection, we can learn from them. We can call ourselves back in from the cold and focus on ways our painful social experiences help us get more in touch with our sense of felt humanity. When our suffering makes us more sensitive to the suffering of others, we more strongly feel the necessity to envision a better world. With the rules of the 11th house ever in flux, we can expect that whatever kernel of ego we have nurtured in the 5th house of self-love will be surely “jostled here, tested, to stand or sink in its shifting ground,” writes Gerhardt. Once we can realize our future-self in the shifting circumstances, claiming the self-authority to show up like responsible humans, rather than just ‘f the system’ movement junkies, we can begin to expand our world view and open ourselves to new experiences, new groups, and indeed, new potential allies, benefactors and beneficiaries. Because if you’ve ever hated money, you probably haven’t given enough away! Once we reach that radical stage of maturity where we begin to reconcile our inner rebel (Uranus) with our task-master (Saturn), taking practical steps and finding the joy in teamwork, we know the seeds of the Aquarian Age are at least germinating.

Astrologer Ada Pembroke speaks to the changing landscape of the 11th house, inquiring whether conferences have become indistinguishable from social media, whether our algorithmically sorted communities are truly serving us, or just the elite (also associated with Aquarius and the 11th house, hence the connection to philanthropy). Pembroke writes that the curated online spaces of the digital superhighway can be “a positive experience when you are in a 5th house mood,” as if we’re “dancing at the world’s biggest dance party.” And yet, many of us also find that when we scroll through social media, “Everywhere you look there are people just like you crawling all over each other, competing for attention.” Which brings us full circle back to the 5th house shadow: the culture of celebrity that has bludgeoned our hopes, the outsized expectation of fame that stresses competition over cooperation, the smoke and mirrors pay-to-play doomscroll reminding us we have never arrived and we are never enough. In a playful reinvention of the 11th house framework, Pembroke imagines “ensembles, not scenes” and “ecosystems, not monocultures” as central to the 11th house of community and collaboration.
Living as we do during an age when media-induced fame (5th house shadow) is the key to personal value, wounds around creativity and idealism surface in the house of Joy. And yet, “Like a jeweler’s wheel,” the 11th house “grinds and polishes the individualism and creativity of our 5th house self, fitting us to the larger world,” writes Gerhardt. Has heedless rebellion become chronic social instability and alienation? Are you a reactive disruptor, constantly picking fights, posing ideological purity tests, or engaging in cancel culture dynamics? Do you lack a sense of belonging, unaware that your own harsh, unyielding judgments are what isolate you from the community you crave? Once you learn that destruction is only half of the equation, you can begin the patient work of rebuilding.
While we can enlist astrology to analyze our natal chart’s trauma signature, the ultimate goal is to recognize the overall field as an infinite, magnetic force, remembering we are life experiencing itself through us. That each individual is a magnet of consciousness oriented by the place and time of birth. That is, NOT an isolated subject, ravaged by our experiences or past. We are a point of awareness held within a vast field. At best, Astrology is an ancient divinatory tool that can help us orient in the now, open our heart, cultivate self-understanding and decipher what actions are promoting personal growth and expansion. In the 11th house, we are given an opportunity to release creative gifts as an act of service.

In the second to last house of the zodiac, we are tasked with recreating a love for our own flavor of uniqueness in order to give the gift we are destined to give. It might have nothing to do with our day job, life calling or career. Resolving 11th house gripes involves a whole lot of detachment and letting go. Is an over-inflated ego keeping you from seeing how great you already are? Although fame and outsized payments may be the expectation, the degree to which one is ego-invested will reveal how close (or far!) one has come. You’re probably much further along manifesting your wildest dreams than you realize. Desperately needing to ‘make it’ will only make you sick with defeat. ‘As Above, so Below’ reminds us that each action here on Earth has a purpose and is power itself. Remember that right use of astrological wisdom activates free will and magnifies higher purpose. The work involves clarifying what you have to offer and finding a way to give it without strings attached. Whether spiritual gardener or gawdy showboat, no gesture is too large or small.
When it comes to the 11th house of hope, writes AstroMatrix, it’s best to perform a psychic autopsy on our spaces of collective synergy, asking, “What do we do for others? How do we view our friends? How do they view us?” Despite the complexities and challenges of human relating, ideally, over time, we learn to navigate these spaces with grace, resilience, flexibility, optimism and the enlightened detachment necessary to keep trying to build a better world. Unless you have an open savior complex, nurturing a steady commitment to social reform requires a great deal of maturity, not to mention empathy, responsibility and compassion towards the suffering of others. Speaking for myself, with Saturn in Scorpio opposing my 11th house in Taurus, my approach to brave new world-building seems to get reality-smacked every time. Do I become bitter, or do I become a builder? Do I topple every apple cart in sight, or do I plant the seed of a tree my great-grandchildren can harvest for juice?

While it’s tempting to look at astrology as ‘destiny’ shining down on us from above, the truth is we must be willing to take the challenging, thorny path of growth, not the easy path of complacency and laziness. And when it comes to Saturn, it’s much easier to hate the system than to build one of your own. Good astrology comes down to asking the right questions, not receiving answers. In the 11th house of the future, ideally, “We can look back and have a good laugh at ourselves, finally getting the punchline that nothing in this mortal coil actually means anything anyway,” write the AstroTwins.
As if “Rocketing our minds into deep space and psychedelic dimensions,” the 11th house rules the calves, and likewise this sector of your chart shows “the things we may run away from,” informs the AstroTwins. I’d add to this, including sometimes our own body! Psychologically, we call this dissociation, or how we sometimes leave our bodies when the discomfort with this reality becomes too extreme. With Uranus, Aquarius and the 11th House all related to sexual trauma, some of us tend to find ourselves hovering at the border where super-intelligence meets post-traumatic stress. While the Aquarian signature screams get experimental and eccentric, wave your freak flag high, the Saturn influence forces us to come back down to Earth abruptly. Was your flight beyond the Midheaven truly angelic, or was it a bit too fanciful and disembodied, ideal rather than real? Ultimately, in the 11th house of pathfinding, we are buoyed by clearly defined priorities and blocked by hesitation or drifting. When our strategic alliances prove fruitful, it is likely the result of a life compass planted firmly within the heart. Steven Forrest writes that while growing up is a full-time job that often absorbs us, the decisions we make as we move into the visible community sphere undoubtedly “hammer out the broader contours of our life.”

Self-proclaimed ‘11th house connoisseur’ Henry Seltzer, a living legend in the field of astrology, says that if the 10th house is about status, the 11th house is what we do with it. In other words, how can you be uniquely of service to the cultural evolution of the times? Because this is the house in which we are seeding the next social movement, “Logic won’t suffice; the 11th house is intuitive,” claims Seltzer. As the third and final of the Airy relational houses, the 11th is the culminating act of creation. To call it a pot of gold or even a rainbow seems to miss the point. According to Seltzer, the 11th house is “The breath of life. How will you pay it forward?”
Before we get into the personalized 11th house insights delineated by zodiac sign below, let’s take a quick look at the influence of personal planets in the house of joy. If you were to have an 11th house Sun like Beyoncé, you shine bright when engaged in a collective movement. A natural networker drawn to leadership roles, social recognition matters as deeply to you as do rich friendships. Attracting others who admire your vision and confidence, you’re a die-hard idealist who realizes goals and dreams with the help of large networks and influential people.
Alternatively, an individual with Moon in the 11th, like Lindsay Lohan, harbors a core emotional need around connection and belonging within groups. Deeply nourished by friendships, social movements and collaborative endeavors, this native’s moods fluctuate along with their social weather. With community as an emotional anchor, a quick heart-to-heart with a friend is often all they need to feel better after a stressful day. Highly sensitive to peers, Moon in the 11th processes feelings socially. Learning to tolerate periods of doubt helps them move past the point of initial resonance into a deeper exploration of what belonging truly means. The growing edge here looks like caring about a community’s direction without making its survival your project.
If you were to have Venus in the 11th, you would be a lover of Aquarian energy. With 11th house Mars, you are the doer of the squad! Tyler the Creator, with his natal Mars in the 11th, has gained fame by way of his natural inclination to shock and provoke with his visceral antics and cocky leadership style. Often playing the role of motivator, Mars in the 11th encourages friends to evolve into their most authentic selves. Passionate friendships, a drive for social change and a natural leadership style characterize this placement.

While Venus joys in the 5th house of romance, in the 11th house of friendship, she is tasked with establishing a long-term incubator of love. Taking the long view of romantic energy, Venus straddling the 5th-11th house axis reminds us that while love may blossom out of the clear blue sky, maintaining it is a product of choices. Kanye West, natal Venus in the 11th, demonstrates beautifully in his life as art that in the house of collective belonging, intimacy takes a back seat to teamwork, networking and fraternity. While some astrologers have pinned Kanye’s Earthy Venusian signature (and bread trail of ex lovers) on his Taurus stellium, the fact that his Venus in Taurus lands in the 11th not only suggests that his dating life might entrance the collective imaginary, but that life with lady love won’t just happen – it is something that needs to be created jointly and consciously.
Who are other notable 11th house bedfellows? Mystic Medusa shares that American composer Irving Berlin had nearly 70% of his birth chart overlapping with the 11th house. She quotes another composer speaking keenly of Berlin’s 11th house magic, one who believed his classic genius boiled down to his ability to absorb “the vibrations emanating from the people, manners and life of his time” and in turn, “gives these impressions back to the world—simplified, clarified and glorified.” Another notable pop sensation, Rihanna, is blessed with her natal Sun, Mercury, Ceres (Great Mother) and Gonggong (Cosmic Trickster) in the 11th house. With a cluster of planets in the house of social networks, community and future vision, Rihanna holds court as the original rebel matriarch of our era with her edgy, non-conformist appeal and game-changing financial savvy. Unafraid to break the spell of groupthink, as the world’s first pop star turned billionaire boss, she’s single-handedly proved to women everywhere that pregnancy, financial freedom and hot rapper husbands are not merely the stuff of romance fiction. With her inherently disruptive contributions to the fashion and music industry shattering old values and redistributing wealth, Riri’s flavor of rebellion seems to have injected America’s social bloodstream with viral plentitudes.

Fiercely pursuing what you want out of life, your willingness to self-assert within a group helps you inspire others to shape a brighter tomorrow. With a visionary, paradigm-shifting approach, a strong sense of self-awareness helps you make valuable contributions to the collective good. Stay mindful of the progressive and future-oriented nature of the 11th house. Balance assertiveness with cooperation and consideration, as Martian energies can come off as domineering or aggressive, potentially leading to conflicts, isolation or misunderstanding. Notice any tendency to overlook others’ perspectives in the pursuit of your vision. Cultivate opposing Libra energies like tact, cooperation and harmony to balance your approach.

Taurus in the 11th *Thousand Earth Angels Deep*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Lalisa Manobal of K-pop’s Blackpink
In the house of community and collaboration, Taurean energies shape your social engagements, visions for the future, friends, hopes and networks. With lofty dreams emerging slowly through hard work and patience, you’re committed to building a stable, secure and comfortable lifestyle and expect tangible results from your projects. Valuing those supporters who show up consistently and appreciate steadiness, you prefer companions who stay for the long haul and value continuity. With your place in community built on endurance, patience and long-term commitment, expect a slow, steady pursuit of dreams that unfolds over years. Valuing steady, loyal friendships with long-term social security over fleeting networks, you cultivate a small, trusted group of friends. Harmonizing with others in a steady, grounded, resonant way is your superpower. Approaching group goals with practical determination, you are the reliable friend who offers real, practical help in times of need. Clinging tightly to the familiar, you can sometimes be stubborn or slow to accept changes in your circle. Comfortable in groups that resist sudden shifts and avoid urgency, your ideal community values stability over novelty. Notice where the fixed nature of Taurus becomes an inflexibility that hinders progress or causes friction within group dynamics. Avoid prioritizing physical resources and practical outcomes over deeper emotional connections. Don’t let self-reliance become isolation. Self-reliance and resourcefulness help you take initiative to promote the greater good. With an ability to create realistic and progressive visions for the future, develop sustainable plans that align with personal values and global needs. Capable of many meaningful, future-forward contributions to humanitarian causes or technological advancements, you carve out an audience that appreciates your reliability and steady output. Your tribe holds firm to their preferences, habits and routines. Circle up with other creatives, gathering around craft, beauty, tactile expression, shared comfort, pleasure, ease, collective relaxation or touch-based healing.

11th House in Gemini *Spread Your Wings & Fly*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Frida Kahlo
Driven by curiosity, intellect and communication, you thrive on the exchange of ideas and love building diverse social networks. Often acting as a connector or ‘social butterfly’ in your communities, you prefer connecting with people around shared ideas, deep conversations or hobbies (rather than emotional depth). Amplifying the adaptability and versatility of your aspirations, you’re open-minded when it comes to pursuing your dreams. Not one to be discouraged by setbacks or changes; you tend to value the whole process of learning, exploration and growth. With Mercury-ruled Gemini governing social connectivity, your social media presence or local community involvement is clever and versatile. Keeping conversations lively, you require social ties that are forward-thinking, intellectually stimulating and reflective of your always-changing interests. With a fluid approach to dreams and aspirations, you might have many different projects going at once, driven by a desire to learn and experience new things. When moving towards large-scale goals or future-oriented vision, you excel at focusing on tangible efforts and can be incredibly adaptable. Taking practical steps to transform visions into reality, innate curiosity, flexibility and stellar communication skills make you highly effective when contributing to group dynamics. Notice where flexibility leads to inconsistency or lack of focus. Does your vision of the future fluctuate so wildly that others struggle to keep up with your changing ideas and approaches? There’s a fine line between curiosity and nosiness, chatter and gossip. While your intentions are usually pure, respecting others’ boundaries is key.
Rx: Marshmallow Cloud Finishing Oil

11th House in Cancer *Fertile Social Life*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Pussy Cat Doll leader Nicole Scherzinger
Cancer in the 11th house of community, hopes and dreams treats friends and social networks like family. Looking for deep, caring connections in your social circle, you often play the role of the group caretaker, emotional supporter, listener and protector. With long-term wishes tied to your sense of belonging, your network supports you through bonds forged with genuine trust. A stellar capacity to foster enriching emotional connections becomes your ultimate tool when working towards collective goals or advocating for change. And yet, given just how very much you care, group dynamics can hurt deeply when you feel left out. Notice where a tendency to shield yourself and others from potential harm becomes reluctance to engage. Notice where failure to face uncomfortable situations impedes progress. While the 11th house emphasizes future-oriented ideas and social progress, the introspective qualities of Cancer sometimes keep you dwelling in the past. Carving out relationships that promote financial security, you hold tightly to your people, sometimes having surprising breakdowns when it’s time to let go. Strongly attached from an emotional point of view, you treat everyone like family and work well in teams. With instincts that usually guide you in the right direction, you’re highly influenced by your associates and love to invite friends and colleagues into your home. With an innate need to collaborate, you often focus on others’ needs and can come off as quite needy at times. Don’t let over-involvement in the lives of others make you start to feel inferior.
Rx: Fairy Dust Puff
Ruled by the Moon, Cancer’s intuitive, protective and caring energy helps you serve as a powerful force for good within your communities, fostering the sense of unity and shared purpose necessary to make significant contributions to the world. Ultimately, Cancer represents the Mother Principle and all that she symbolically embodies – emotions, mood, intuition, lunacy. Directing that much energy into hopeful action puts Cancer in touch with her Fairy Godmother who materializes (mater meaning ‘Mother’), most vividly in the folktale Cinderella. But it isn’t just Cinderella who represents Cancer female in the Cinderella story; rather, all the female characters are potential aspects of the Moonchild’s spinning head of a personality. While the Fairy Godmother signifies her wise-womanliness and achievement of serene ‘highness’ in moral character, she is not above playing the evil stepmother and stepsisters at times. Likewise, Cancer’s spotless character comes from going through, not around, the negative aspects of her existence. With lunar cycles reminding us life is all about process, not perfection, it can take a great many years for the Cancer female to recognize herself as the great pearl of wisdom she is. If you’re still waiting for your golden hour, spray a little fairy dust into your look with GG by Glitter Girl’s lightweight, buildable shimmer. Available in Golden Hour or Star Dust, Glitter Girl ‘Fairy Dust’ leaves skin glowing, radiant and full of sparkle. With a lightweight, silky finish that makes it optimal for everyday use, envision that sweet spot where iridescent pearl shimmer meets multidimensional glow. That finishing touch that lets your confidence shine. No need to wait for Prince Charming’s permission; mess-free puff application brings this signature Sparkle Spray roaring to life.

11th House in Leo *Generous Dreamer*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Kris Jenner
With Leo energy lighting up your social life, friendships and long-term goals, you are driven by a need for recognition, warmth and creative expression. Shining brightest in group settings, you take a natural leadership role amongst peers. Drawing people in with your bright aura and natural confidence, you stand out in the crowd! A valued community member, you’re known for your vibrant and creative spirit. Driven by passion as much as joy, you regularly make significant creative contributions to the collective. With high standards for the company you keep, you’re not only generous and loyal, but tend to treat friends like family, expecting deep loyalty and appreciation in return. Hanging with creative, successful, inspiring people who match your vibrant self-image, you love to support their big dreams. Carefully select close friends for who they are on the inside rather than how good they make your posse look. With grand hopes for the future tied to leaving a personal mark on the world, you’ll gladly organize community projects, team events, or social networks, so long as you can direct the action! What’s the catch? Ego clashes, addiction to praise, choosing style over substance and needing to always be in charge is the Leonine shadow. Is a strong sense of self-expression overshadowing the needs of the group? Or can you find ways to express yourself that truly serve the whole? The ability to balance personal interests with the needs of the group channels Leo’s self-expressive qualities into a service mission, leading to a potentially harmonious integration of personal passions and global needs.

Preferring a small, tight-knit circle of reliable peers, you feel fulfilled working on organized goals in community. Choosing friends who are smart, grounded and useful (rather than loud or dramatic), social networks are built on analysis and thoughtfulness, work, service, improvement and shared standards of selectivity. With social magnetism rooted in refinement, your networks value excellence. With personal aspirations centered on improvement and optimization, you aim for longevity in labor and contribution. Often, social life is intertwined with routine labor. Forming bonds built on usefulness, reliability and clarity – companions often mirror your analytical tendencies. Service-oriented, you show care by fixing, offering advice, or helping your friends with daily tasks. Recognizing the value of your contributions, your supporters value quality, detail and refinement. Caution around any tendency to overextend oneself in service of others. Finding a balance between personal growth and contributing in community is vital. With purification and wellness as ongoing commitments, you have high standards around who you let in, sometimes expecting too much from your peers. Striving to make a practical impact and bring order to society, on a team you often act as the clear thinker who organizes data, manages details and keeps everyone on track. Rx: Senolytic Balm
In the sign of health, your networks amplify the importance of wellness and clean living. In the spirit of 11th house future-forward thinking and cutting-edge science, your Rx turns its razor-sharp focus to the buildup of ‘zombie cells’—one of the leading drivers of skin aging. Introducing Senolytic Balm, the latest addition to Marie Veronique’s science-led lineup of skincare formulas designed to support long-term skin health, not just surface-level concerns. Much like the Uranian 11th stance, which prioritizes an elevated, bird’s-eye view of the greater whole, Marie Veronique approaches skin as a living, intelligent ecosystem—dynamic, interconnected and deeply responsive. Created to restore the integrity of high-functioning skin, Senolytic Balm works holistically to optimize the microbiome and strengthen the skin barrier: the foundation of all skin function. When the barrier is compromised, every system—hydration, microbiome balance, and immune response—suffers.

While research around cellular aging has expanded rapidly, topical skincare solutions targeting these processes remain rare. By combining essential lipids, microbiome-supportive ingredients, and biomimetic peptides, Senolytic Balm supports skin function from surface to depth. Its senotherapeutic approach targets aging cells that linger in the skin, releasing inflammatory signals that damage surrounding healthy cells and contribute to wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and barrier dysfunction. As one of the few brands dedicated to restoring balanced, resilient microbiomes, Marie Veronique understands that healthy skin isn’t about doing more—it’s about protecting what’s essential. The most effective skincare doesn’t just correct; it anticipates, preserves, and supports. Your skin doesn’t need fixing. It needs the right conditions to function at its best. If you’re looking for optimal skin health at every age, Marie Veronique is the future-facing approach worth investing in.

11th House in Libra *Aesthetic Exclusivity or Peer Pageantry?*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Jennie Kim of K-pop’s Blackpink
Shining in social circles devoted to collective identity, you reach your goals faster working as a team. A social butterfly that loves bringing people together, you treat friends with respect and often play peacemaker. Committed to humanitarian goals, shared visions of the future must involve fairness, justice and beauty for all. With your sense of equality expressed through collective action, you may become involved in law, peace organizations or global roles demanding service and diplomacy. With social circles built on equality, reciprocity and shared understanding, friends are true peers. Drawn to fair-minded and tactful people, you exist in communities defined by diplomacy, grace and social intelligence. Often treating friends like marriage partners, you create one-on-one bonds shaped by loyalty and reciprocity. With partnership emerging from equality and camaraderie, you take the path of emotional neutrality until harmony is threatened. Keen on intellectual sparring as social bonding, you love a good debate, but rarely take sides. Companions mirror your relational hesitation, indecision and passivity. Successful because people naturally like and trust you, you’re capable of balancing personal interests with group needs. Always the fair and balanced contributor to group efforts, you reincarnated to harmonize diverse groups driving progressive changes. A cooperative nature helps you cultivate mutual understanding, making you a valuable asset in any group or organization. Notice where your quest for fairness conflicts with the diverse viewpoints within a group. Avoid losing personal identity in the pursuit of collective objectives. Is an excessive focus on fairness spiraling into plateaus of indecision? Leadership requires decisive action and letting some folks down.

The Relational Sovereignty Wokeshop is for people who keep meeting themselves at the breaking point of intimacy — where desire, fear, power, and longing collide — and who are done sacrificing their authority for attachment. Using your natal chart as a precise diagnostic mirror, we identify:
- Relational patterns you cannot outgrow alone
- Where patriarchal conditioning fractures your voice, boundaries, and bodily authority
- How projection, obsession, or self-erasure are being unconsciously maintained
- The karmic loops repeating through lovers, timing, and choice
Then we do the REAL work:
- Call back your projections
- Separate what is yours from what you were trained to carry
- Resolve inner polarities that sabotage intimacy
- Re-anchor sovereignty in the body — not the story

You leave with:
- Relational clarity without self-blame
- A felt sense of inner authority
- Language for your boundaries that does not apologize
- A clean break from at least one repeating pattern
This is astrology as initiation, not explanation. If you’re ready to discover what relational sovereignty feels like in your body, reclaiming the Feminine Power you thought you had to suppress, join us at the first ever astro-feminist Relational Sovereignty Wokeshop on zoom October 10th 2-4pm EST.

11th House in Scorpio *Collective Transformation*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Aishwarya Rai
Scorpio in the 11th brings intensity, selectivity and a desire for profound transformation to your friendships, social networks and long-term goals. Seeking out powerful alliances – you prefer a small inner circle of fiercely loyal friends over a massive network of surface-level acquaintances. Magnetic connections draw you to mysterious, complex, or powerful people. With strong emotional investments shaping group dynamics, your style of advocacy is rooted in depth and conviction. Transformative networking serves as a catalyst for major personal growth, healing or career pivots. Strategic involvement in groups, clubs, or organizations proves just how devoted to collective transformation you are. Forging unbreakable bonds marked by loyalty and emotional intensity, you tend to have quite the influence within collective spaces. With vision shaped by passion and persistence, you prefer to keep major life goals, dreams and financial aspirations hidden. Drawn to exclusive or closed communities, alliances are formed behind the scenes. Attracting powerful companions, friendships run deep and sometimes hot. Rejecting clinginess and disloyalty, you cut ties quickly when trust is broken. Sometimes it’s challenging to separate friendship from deeper emotional entanglements, as lines between relationship categories easily blur. With the capacity to envision a future that acknowledges hidden truths, transparency and vulnerability enable you to form authentic, progressive, forward-thinking ideals and visions. Notice where your overwhelming desire to change things is not necessarily accepted by others. Balance intensity with the need for stability and continuity within community. Accept that not all relationships can or will match the depth you seek. Has over-involvement led to boundary violations? Even within close-knit communities, maintaining personal space and privacy is essential.

11th House in Sagittarius *Courting Expansion*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Zendaya
Courting expansion of mind-body-spirit, the 11th house is where you link with your team of fellow visionaries. With Sag here, your tribe may be scattered across continents, universities, or the wild reaches of the internet. Gravitating toward people who share your cultural curiosity and inspire you to think bigger, you look for camaraderie with those who embrace their vastness. Infusing your social circles, hopes and dreams with a love of learning – open-minded friends from diverse backgrounds share your big-picture vision and desire for personal growth. Your networks value independence, honesty and fun over strict rules or heavy drama. Hardly content with mediocrity, you’re drawn to grand visions and ambitious projects. With contagious optimism, you often serve as a motivator in group settings. Uniting people from all walks of life, others admire your inclusive spirit and willingness to rally for the cause. Philosopher of the group, you ask big questions and foster connections that ripple outward in unexpected ways. Friends tend to bring you good luck or expand your worldview, often by introducing you to foreign cultures and new belief systems. While big dreams tote up humanitarian and globalist agendas, your freedom-seeking nature makes your commitment to group dynamics inconsistent. Has an expansive nature led to an overemphasis on big-picture thinking at the cost of practical details? Neglecting the proper implementation of your ideas? Does commitment feel like a pair of too-tight shoes? Don’t let a thirst for novelty make you a drifter, leaving friendships half-baked or projects half-finished. Notice where over-idealism leads to unrealistic expectations. Grounding all that optimism into practical, everyday life is key.

Approaching your social circles and ambitions with a sense of duty, you prefer quality and loyalty over a raucous crowd. Seeking reliable, mature, practical friends who share your work ethic – solid relationships endure and ground you. Rx: MitoQ Pure
Building your dreams like architecture, you construct your vision with patience and precision. Achieving via discipline and steady effort, intentional alignment with reputable, structured institutions and community partners helps you excel in life. As you make that impossible journey up the mountain, check out the bestselling Mitochondria supplement mopping up the competition. Formulated with mitochondria-targeted antioxidant Mitoquinol, MitoQ® Pure is clinically proven to combat the root causes of aging. Supporting cellular longevity, metabolism and sustained energy – it’s the latest cellular pick-me-up, making coffee look like a nostalgic liability.

Because the most tangible signs of aging—fatigue, brain fog, slow recovery—start in your mitochondria, reducing oxidative stress is key to maintaining energy and vitality. The latest scientific research demonstrates that the aging process roots deep inside your cells – where daily stressors like UV rays, poor sleep, and pollution generate free radicals that damage the energy centers of your body. While most mitochondria are protected by a membrane that antioxidants like CoQ10 can’t easily cross, breakthrough antioxidant Mitoquinol is the world’s first antioxidant molecule designed to pass through the mitochondrial membrane. By neutralizing free radicals at the source, daily use promotes energy production, blood flow and cardiovascular health while slowing down the effects of aging.

Craving soulful bonds that feel fated or serendipitous, you often attract artists, healers and outsiders. While your social circle may be fluid and ever-changing, connections run deep. Making the practical side of group involvement feel like a distant echo, you connect via deep empathy, shared ideals and creative/healing pursuits. Thriving in collectives that champion compassion, creativity, or spiritual growth, humanitarian causes call to you on a soul level. Perhaps you become involved in movements that seek to heal the world, or simply bring more poetry and kindness into daily life. Sometimes, it’s as if you find yourself following the ‘good vibes’ only to land in a sea of confusion. Losing yourself in endless what-ifs or the allure of utopian visions that never quite materialize? When goals start to feel elusive or ungrounded, the challenge lies in anchoring your dreams. Toggling between emotional connection and gentle escapism, you can be found drifting into reverie during group chats or staying up late to brainstorm hacks with friends. Sometimes you play the role of confidante or unwitting therapist, absorbing the feelings of others. Perhaps you feel like you belong everywhere and nowhere at once. Community-building with an aura of acceptance and peace, don’t let a tendency to go with the flow lead to indecision or failure to take concrete action. Notice where you are too trusting or idealize your friends, what often leads to disappointment or self-sacrifice. Balancing the desire to contribute/connect and the need for personal space/individuality is crucial.
