As the most fated points in a natal chart, the Lunar Nodes of the Moon, also called the ‘Head’ and ‘Tail’ of the Cosmic Dragon, indicate our path of soul growth in this lifetime. If you believe in the stars but don’t like the terms fate, karma or soulmates – simply think growing pains. The Lunar Nodes provide opportunities to rise to the occasion of the North Node or Dragon’s Head potential, lest we fall back on the South Node or Dragon’s Tail comfortable, karmic, lower octave plateau. Keep in mind the Lunar Nodes are not planetary bodies, but merely points formed by the Moon’s orbit around the Earth intersecting with the Earth’s path around the Sun. When reading a natal chart, our Dragon’s Head (Rahu) indicates an energy we are destined to move towards, which also typically evades our grasp. Our Dragon’s Tail (Ketu) meanwhile represents an energy we have overdone which is no longer helpful – it is a place we easily get stuck. Embracing our latent Dragon’s Head potential requires a leap of blind faith.
As Agni Jnana Yannanda writes in her essay, “THE DEMONS WHO CAUSED THE ECLIPSE,” the ancients of India necessarily viewed the lunar nodes as all-powerful and malefic. In Vedic astrology, the Lunar Nodes are seen as ‘demons’ in light of how their presence obstructs the Sun (Surya) and Moon (Candra) from view during an eclipse. With the term eclipse translating to “the act of seizing or holding,” in Vedic mythology, the nodes are blamed for robbing the heavens of the luminaries. They are thought to be malevolent forces, evidenced in the rich mythology of the cosmic Nagas (serpents). Proto-Indo-European cultures thought of dragons and serpents as monsters that must be slain – a metaphor for the way in which white male patriarchy has overtaken Earth consciousness and indigenous wisdoms which ensure right relationship with the land. Vedic astrology’s serpent mythology thereby engenders a much more complex and intuitive mind-body-soul understanding of the cosmic potentials.
It’s challenging to fully conceive of the nodes without first acknowledging the intersection of Astrology as divine science with the greater Hindu concept of reincarnation. In India, a culture that has preserved one of the earliest and most accurate of astrological systems, bodies are left as food for birds with the understanding that the physical body itself is merely the temple that houses the soul. Buddha taught that “You are what you think, having become what you thought,” reflecting how our soul continually expands its consciousness via experience. The ultimate goal being that one day it is no longer necessary to reincarnate into a physical body. Having no true substance, to Western Astrologers the nodes are considered ‘shadow planets,’ a reference to how our ego clings to familiarity (our shadow) until crisis forces us to change. During eclipse season, in addition to demons swallowing the sun and moon out of the sky – shocking things come to light! Karmically speaking, our soul embodied to learn those very lessons our ego-consciousness can just barely withstand. Many of us would rather go down kicking and screaming than submit to the ego-death soul growth entails. When we conceive of karma more broadly, we begin to understand the meaning of the zodiac wheel and of life itself as one great continuum or unified field.
The Lunar Nodes of the Moon deal in the realm of death, rebirth, transformation, and regeneration. Also associated with foreigners, the unconventional, drugs, excess and that which is most tempting and dangerous – the lunar nodes are fierce rulers of human destiny charged with supernatural powers working 180 degrees apart at opposite points of the zodiac. Their aim is to stir one’s life and awaken the soul to hidden wisdom. As the Naga mythology suggests, one’s inner world of emotions is truly as vast as the ocean. From the churning of this great sea of consciousness emerge both treasures and poisons.
Rahu is the head part of the celestial dragon, and Keto is the tail. With snakes, dragons and serpents given utmost importance in Vedic mythology, the eternal serpent “Shesh Naga” represents the seed of cosmic creation and confronts us humans with our mortality. Nagas are highly evolved and wise beings capable of great good or ill. The Naga’s shedding of its skin represents transformation and rebirth, it is the kundalini snake biting its own tail, the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Snake. Our natal Dragon’s Head signifies that karma which causes our worldly desires – externalizing energies which push us forward. The Dragon’s Head being an orbiter of power, fame, political success, money and beauty – it’s likewise often read too simplistically according to status quo definitions of success. Eventually, the truth of Rahu’s insatiable desire is revealed, along with an understanding that no external success leads to lasting satisfaction. What Dragon’s Head Rahu has the power to give, Dragon’s Tail Ketu takes away. Ketu is the lower half of the celestial snake which guides one towards meditation on the nature of creation, leading to a more true understanding of the Universe. Ketu guides the soul towards the understanding that, in the end, we only answer to ourselves.
In this light, our Dragon’s Tail initially surfaces as the cause of great obstruction and pain. Through suffering we learn the non-attachment that is necessary to release past karma. On the see-saw of perpetual reincarnation – our Dragon’s Tail indicates difficult personal karma like addictions and compulsions which are so deep-seated they often show up unconsciously, internalized amongst many generations. The South Node or Dragon’s tail is a disembodied entity from the head down, being associated with ‘the Fool’ archetype in Tarot, like a heart with no head.
In Karmic Astrology: The Moon’s Nodes and Reincarnation, Martin Shulman outlines some of the quintessential knowledge Western Astrology holds regarding the Lunar Nodes as a type of stairway to heaven, which I draw from heavily in the astro-insights to follow. Shulman reveals how we can work with the nodes to discover our fate and master destiny. If we look closely, the answers are right there under our nose. Whether showing up as natural talents, psychic downloads, acute traumas or irrational phobias – the qualities we experience which bear the least amount of integration with the rest of the present life are most likely residues from a past incarnation. Shulman uses the example of how Mozart gave his first concert at four years old, far surpassing any musical knowledge he could have obtained at that age. As cosmic indicators, the Lunar Nodes put us on our “stairway to heaven insofar as they define the karmic lessons [one] has chosen to take on for this life,” writes Shulman.
As designated points of soul magnetism, the Dragon’s Head pulls us toward the future while the Dragon’s Tail ensures maximum continuity with the past. Thinking of the present incarnation as a bridge across time, the goal is to blend the opposing energies of the head and tail into a medium of happiness. Think of the Dragon’s Tail as an accumulation of events, ideas, attitudes and thoughts – the unresolved effects of which have culminated as the current life. This is why in our South Node we find our most deeply engrained and familiar patterns of the psyche. It’s not only the potentially weakest spot of the natal chart, it’s also a zenith of hundreds of thousands of years of perfecting the self! And yet, it pulls us in like quicksand, hypnotizing us back into a downward spiral of behaviors we are meant to outgrow. Here’s the catch! What might be functional, helpful, soul-growth medicine for one person is a trap for the other. It’s all a matter of which sign and house your nodes fall under. Once we come to understand that fulcrum of opposing energies making up our Dragon’s head and tail, the goal is to hold the wisdom afforded by our Lunar South Node without falling back on its lower expression. It’s helpful to think of our Dragon’s Tail in terms of letting go of the shadow attributes of that sign and our Dragon’s Head in terms of aspiring to the highest expression of that sign. When we’re grounded and clear-minded, the Dragon’s Head beckons with curious, magical allure. As the highest expression to be reached in this embodiment, Shulman writes that the Dragon’s Head “is like a treasure-filled cornucopia reaping one benefit after another as each obstacle is turned into a stepping stone of future growth.”
Personally, learning about my lunar nodes was a powerful entry point into some of my deepest healing. My Dragon’s Head in Taurus aspires to the energy of the earthy, sensual, Venusian ‘Spiritual Gardener’ and away from my Scorpio stellium south node psychological sewage. The Taurus approach is a lot like what a psychic healer once told me with regard to my primary relationship, “You just need to be more stupid.” In nearly the same breath, she explained how it was her husband’s ongoing betrayals that put her on the path to becoming an open-hearted healer. The Venus-ruled Taurus North Node just needs to smell the roses, reach the pinnacle of self-reliance and even more importantly, truly come to appreciate the ground they’re standing on. With this nodal axis, one reincarnated with lifetimes of ancestral crisis-consciousness, betrayal, trauma and abuse running through the veins of the Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio. Maybe the northward momentum is not so much ‘playing dumb,’ but rather, protecting one’s peace at all costs. Taurus, The Empress, holds high court in the realm of food and sex – by far the two things I’ve had the most complicated, slippery relationships with. Having replaced sex with food and vice versa – as a formerly neurotic, body dysmorphic white-passing daughter of the techno-capitalist patriarchy, claiming the instinctual self back from consensus reality feels like full-blown trench warfare.
Continuing to operate unconsciously from Scorpion-survival mode throughout many lifetimes, the Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio native often moves through life like a scared animal. While trust issues abound and the need to always question everyone else’s motivations feels natural, this not only drains the joy from life, it only backfires for this native. Although I’m brilliantly perceptive and easily merge with my intimate others, I need to avoid defining my worth or value through relationship. And while I’m still waiting for ‘Prince Charming’ to save me from the dragon, apparently my True North is becoming financially and emotionally self-reliant. Establishing self-worth through my own efforts, blocking the subconscious need to create crises while practicing patience, self-sufficiency, restraint and disengagement from drama.
In his book, Martin Shulman makes a case study of Paramahansa Yogananda, who also happens to have a Dragon’s Head in Taurus, an indication one is a master builder. “While many choose to apply it physically, Yogananda attuned himself to the finer Taurean rays of creative love… [reaching] the hearts of aspirants around the globe,” writes Shulman. As the chart of a great mystic, he indicates that Yogananda’s Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio suggests a channel through which all the knowledge and wisdom of the Universe gleaned in past lives can be brought into use during the current incarnation. Entering this life already having acquired the mystical secrets of insight at the very highest transmuted levels of Scorpionic awareness (Sign of the Shaman, Healer and Spiritual Surgeon), Yogananda introduced a new concept of God to the Western world. Shulman writes that the physical plane materialism so common to this nodal axis manifested as the countless ashrams, healing centers and retreats that Yogananda established.
Having the same nodal axis, it’s no wonder that I studied at his Ananda Center of Northern California as a teen, beginning a yoga and meditation practice that has been like my right hand for nearly thirty years. Shulman notes, “There is no limit to the levels of regeneration that the Scorpio south node could have achieved in past incarnations. The Taurus north node symbolizes the Eye of Illumination in the body of God.” As my personal history walking the path of the yogi illustrates, when we actualize our north node potential, all members of our collective nodal group benefit. In the words of Yogananda, a great master who rose to the occasion of his Dragon’s Head, “Life is like a great chain in the ocean of God.”
That being said, stringing past life wisdom together like pearls on a precious necklace is easier said than done. This isn’t the work of just one lifetime but of many lifetimes. It’s not that the Dragon’s Head must allude us; it’s that every time we think we reach it, another higher possibility is revealed. Likewise, every time we fall back on the shadow attributes of our Dragon’s Tail, we quickly feel its heavy karmic shackles. Once we learn to give up our negative habits with grace, we begin to expand our future potential, merging our mission and vision with the Dragon Head’s everlasting upward spiral. When we’re younger, we tend to misuse astro-insights, often to justify bad behavior. We limit our understanding of the zodiac by becoming hyper-fixated on one aspect of our chart. Here in the West, we are all guilty (wittingly or not) of centering our Sun-sign, which not only denies the lunar (feminine) energy associated with our past and roots, but quickly narrows the lens through which we begin to digest our karmic lessons and blessings. Ultimately, the more work we do on ourselves, the easier it is to reach the subtle higher frequencies each planet or point represents. In this light, as you read on to learn more about your nodes, make sure that your understanding is folded into a greater picture of your chart in its entirety – ensuring that any nodal axis wisdom is in agreement with the rest of the chart.
In the Dragon’s Head astro-insights by sign to follow, I draw from two other astrologers who have largely focused their practice on deciphering the lunar nodes, the first of whom is Mark Jones. In his book Healing the Soul: Pluto, Uranus and the Lunar Nodes Jones writes that if God is the infinite field, the charge of our karmic body provides a tailored opportunity for soul growth. All we need to do is observe the experience of who we are mirrored back to us by reality.
By the time I learned about my Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio, I was deeply heartbroken. Moving through a devastating break-up, my Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio (Sex/Death) in the 5th (House of Romance) proudly declared to all the world I was ‘dead inside.’ All I could feel was my own terror, lack of love and inability to trust again. According to evolutionary astrology, ‘Freedom is Love.’ Meaning, the creative act in its true potential transcends the world of necessity, the laws of cause and effect.“The natal chart is not a cage from which we must be released. It is not a reality imposed upon us from without,” writes Jones. His work fusing Pluto and the nodal axis of the moon, what he refers to as the ‘Evolutionary Axis,’ is designed to illuminate our evolutionary intention. Our Dragon’s Tail is not meant to be a point of decline, rather, it represents our soul’s purpose over many lifetimes. We are born with karma, just as we are born with the power to change. “If we’re paying attention, profound healing can occur when we own our karma,” explains Jones.
In other words, think of the Dragon’s Head as an indication of the basic lesson underlying this lifetime. In Astrology for the Soul Jan Spiller writes that “When astrology is approached from a level of true open-minded understanding, it leads directly to unconditional love.” In other words, when our heart keeps breaking, it is because it needs to be broken OPEN. Contrary to pop-astrology, Spiller assumes the Moon to be the most important planet in a chart. From a karmic/past life perspective, it underlies the rest of the personality structure. In her book, she focuses on the Moon’s nodes as key to rebalancing our emotional bodies, so that we can ultimately reclaim confidence and accelerate our higher purpose and destiny. For Spiller, the Dragon’s Head denotes the psychological shift that needs to occur within the personality. Which might come easily if we’ve spent the week meditating in an ashram where we are housed, fed and only have to answer to bird calls and valley streams. But how about when the pressure is on? You’re late. Your boss/boyfriend/neighbor is mad. You have lots of work and no time. You have lots of debt and no income. Whatever the case may be. Some people have loads of money and no one to love. The point is, it is the stressful situations in life that provide the critical moment of opportunity in which to implement a new choice in behavior that can lighten the karmic load. By focusing on the highest potential of the sign of our North Node and away from the lower expression of our South Node, we begin to release those self-defeating tendencies and recover our joy. Again, the qualities associated with our Dragon’s Tail sign and house are not inherently negative. They do, however, describe a part of our energy profile that is overdeveloped. It no longer works for us. In fact, as we mature, it wreaks havoc in our lives!
Crowning our habitual Dragon’s Tail knowledge with a proverbial ‘red flag,’ Spiller writes: “It’s a part of you that is magnified in this incarnation – an appetite so exaggerated that it’s like a bottomless pit that can never be satisfied…when you find yourself driven by these motives, your best bet is to walk away, because you’re going to lose.” Like a divine pendulum, we are always working towards balance. When we consciously work with our nodal axis in relationship to the rest of our chart, we eventually learn to combine our past life strengths and present life gifts in a healthy way. While this doesn’t have to mean changing our essential selves or invalidating our needs, we do need to alter our approach.
If you’re like me and your cosmic serpent surfs the Scorpio/Taurus sex axis, you’re trading lifetimes of war for endless bliss. If you’re working with the Cancer/Capricorn axis, you’re learning to revitalize the archetypes of Mother and Father, to find balance between public and private life, family and work. Along the Leo/Aquarius heart axis, we mediate the polarities of self-love and universal collective-love. In a natal chart, the nodes polarize what is known with what is unknown, what is comfortable with what will shatter our formerly limited view of reality. While it may not be an easy pill to swallow, if we face reality, the breakdown eventually leads to a breakthrough.
Before we get into the nodes themselves, I think it’s helpful to illustrate a few ways in which the nodal axis configuration can play out and why it is important to keep the whole chart in mind. Once you know the sign and house of your Dragon’s Head, look to the ruling planets of those signs, where are they located? If the sign of your Dragon’s Head is in its house of rulership (for example Gemini in the 3rd or Cancer in the 4th) it simply means double the intensity of the lessons learned. If your Dragon’s Head falls in the opposite sign, here we find that maturity is the capacity to handle paradox. For this native, it will be a lifetime of precarious balance. Astrologers call this ‘mutual reception.’ In layman’s terms, it simply means that one must draw all the more from past life experience in order to fulfill future potential. On that note, when we look closely at the two opposite ends of the spectrum, we often find that the two extremes become one.
This same emphasis can be played out if you have a node in the house opposite its sign, for example, Dragon’s Head in Libra in the Aries-ruled 1st house of self. This lesson is about balancing one’s needs for independence versus relationship. Here we find that the sign of the nodes is the primary energy, and the house a shell or the environment necessary to support the content of the sign and lessons learned. Maybe one finds that they seek out relationships (Libra) only to conduct them as if in battle, fully armed and conflict-ready (1st house). While initially we tend to experience said conflicts externally, asking ‘Why does this always happen to me?!’ As wisdom accumulates, we can recognize the conflict is an internal one, and how our experiences mirror our inner life. Maybe prior lives in committed relationship (Libra) entailed profound levels of resentment and a desire for more freedom (1st house). Here again we find that there are infinite expressions of each of the twelve zodiac energies and that one’s lived experience, not the forebodings of an astrologer, is the best indicator of the path of fate.
Once you have a grasp of the sign and house associated with your lunar nodes, you can take into account any aspected planets. While for most it is best to step away from the energies of the Dragon’s Tail, maybe you’re like me and you have your Sun and Saturn conjunction Dragon’s Tail. Here we find that it is necessary to relearn or revisit the lessons of the South Node in this lifetime in order to master them and move on. Particularly with the Sun-South Node conjunction, there is an illumination happening. An ego-death! When planets conjunct both nodes, the soul is confronted with the resolution of a very powerful conflict which may not be postponed beyond the present life.
Then we have what astrologers call a ‘skipped step,’ which refers to when a planet squares the nodes. Planets that square the nodes represent a distraction or barrier along the path of growth. Like a detour on the stairway to heaven, often what happens initially is that one is deluded into believing that the square (rather than the nodes) represents the right direction in life. Here we are guided toward lessons of sacrifice. For example, maybe a man with loyalty issues has Venus square his Dragon’s Tail, which shows up in each lifetime as women that lure him into infidelity, despite his conscious intentions. Here, planet Venus (Goddess of Love) represents the ‘skipped step’ in this native’s process of moving away from the shadow-territory indicated by the Dragon’s Tail. The Venus square represents the primary issue that has interrupted the progression of soul development. Even as the person has taken a step towards the Dragon’s Head intention, when confronted with temptation in the form of a beautiful, seductive woman (Venus) they have nonetheless fallen back into old patterns. Rather than blaming the primary partner or other woman, this person benefits from therapeutic isolation in which they can learn to love and accept themselves first, taking responsibility for the underlying pattern.
When the Sun is the ‘skipped step,’ the current life is a critical one for the resolution of unresolved material related to individuation. One is tasked with creating or maintaining a personal vision in isolation or in conflict with others around them. When the Moon (or a planet in the 4th house or Cancer) squares the lunar nodes, there may be unresolved issues related to the Mother, family of origin, or emotional body. When Mars (or a planet in the 1st house) squares the nodal axis there can exist lifetimes of unresolved anger, unresolved sexual feelings or outbursts of physical or sexual violence. If one has not taken an honest look at one’s own (hidden) anger, anger with or from others threatens stability. Clearing up passive toxicity is key, as the Mars square indicates situations in which this native’s will has been co-opted in some way, or that one is overly compliant or ‘lost’ in a way that has distorted the primary soul intention. Maybe it’s simply an unmet need for independence that is the root cause of suppressed anger. And here again we hit up against the intimacy-autonomy paradox associated with the Aries/Libra polarity. The crux of this axis involves not letting the need for freedom to grow with another become blocked by subconscious fears of entrapment and control.
Which brings us back to my initial inquiry, the use of the nodes to illuminate cosmic soulmates or twin flames. With a Dragon’s Tail in Scorpio, I naturally turned to astrology to investigate romantic potentials. Fatigued from nearly destroying myself in search of ‘the One,’ I turned to divine science only to find that it was my seeking of a symbiotic relationship that was the underlying issue. Once I started exploring my nodal axis in synastry, I discovered that every lover I attracted had their nodal axis in reverse of mine. I kept attracting Dragon’s Head in Scorpio folks, because opposites attract! Slow to commit, and yet curious about the mysterious soul union I seemingly promised to deliver. While on the one hand, this indicated we were moving in opposite directions, on the other, having our Dragon’s Head and Tail topsy-turvy offered a buffer of celestial scaffolding to the upward spiral. While this configuration is not easy, it’s rewarding on the wavelength of soul growth, as each partner is inclined to receive their Dragon’s Head blessings by just being in proximity to the other. Both partners feel almost as though they could dissolve into each other.
In addition to outlining the primary intention of our soul when born and the problems we must resolve to get there, the nodes magnetize to us those people who are designated players in our story. When one person’s chart aspects the nodal axis of another in synastry, the paths of cosmic influence are destined to converge.
What is synastry? A process of putting two charts side by side and comparing what we find. Is it a love written in the stars or a passing infatuation? When one partner’s nodal axis connects to an important planet in their partner’s chart, it’s an indicator of a fated encounter and strong bonds rooted in a past life, which promote soul growth. Celebrity Doppelgänger: Michael B Jordan
Growth and fulfillment flourish as you become more independent, self-aware, self-motivated, self-directed and self-confidant. You could easily become a new world leader or the face of your own brand. Physical exertion, such as sports, will satisfy your competitive urge and increase your ability to stand your ground. With a Dragon’s Tail in Libra, you see yourself through the eyes of others to the point of approval-seeking. While pleasing others feels instinctive and familiar, following your own impulses leads to lasting fulfillment. Gravitating towards partnerships of all kinds, your need for harmony makes you tend to concede a lot. Once your Dragon’s Head in Aries finally surfaces, you will surely rebel, get angry and flee! Once you learn to love and trust yourself enough to confidently go it alone, you’ll draw the appropriate people into your life. You must recognize you have value before anyone else will. Practicing open communication frees everyone involved.
Learning elemental lessons of self-consciousness, this soul is paying the price for indecisiveness and confusion in past lives. Standing in the middle, you often find yourself trying desperately to bring harmony to both sides at the same time. In prior lives, you may have judged your happiness on the success or failure of those close to you. Confidence can easily be shattered for you still hardly know yourself! Dividing oneself in half at every crossroads, eventually the divisions become so painful that one can no longer bear it – ultimately, one must learn to take a stand in what your higher self senses as truth. Just be mindful of how your newly found assertiveness influences those closest to you. The highest soul growth involves learning how to make the head rule the heart (as one still too easily melts at the slightest affection). It is time to figure out who you truly are. In the process of self-discovery, every thought becomes an enlivening seed of a creative new beginning.

Take it from a Dragon’s Head in Taurus native, the key to a life of happiness is regularly connecting with Mother Earth. If you live in the urban jungle, this doesn’t have to mean exotic voyages into the wilderness, but can be as simple as sniffing a wild rose. On my personal journey to wholeness, I’ve cultivated a love for composting. Here in the U.S., food is the single most common material sent to landfills, comprising 24% of municipal waste. In 2019 alone, over 66 million tons of food and food scraps went to waste in America. Offering numerous vital benefits, composting reduces waste, improves soil health and promotes sustainable agriculture, contributing to a healthier environment for us all. A fundamentally earthy and local process, in addition to combating climate change by reducing methane emissions from landfills, composting also creates green jobs. Call me crazy, but there’s something so gratifying about giving your waste back to the Earth (and not to a landfill). If you’re not already part of a local community garden, you can use your iPhone or Android to unlock hundreds of smart compost bins available 24/7 throughout NYC. Dragon’s Head in Gemini *The Original Thirst Chick*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Olivia Wilde
Dragon’s Head in Gemini signifies a life path focused on developing strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, versatility and the ability to connect with others by sharing ideas and perspectives. Soul purpose in this lifetime is to learn how to effectively express oneself and engage with the world around you through open dialogue and learning. Embracing a thirst for knowledge, actively seek out new information and viewpoints. As you mindfully engage with others, harness your excellent conversation skills to foster tolerance and community cohesion. Folks with these nodes are paving their own way so to speak. Often, how you communicate is more important than what you say! Don’t be afraid to raise your hopes. Cultivate the curiosity necessary to educate others patiently. A natural teacher, your words weave new and better realities. Generally, natives with this placement are extremely confident and understand how to have faith in their work or ideas – knowing how to reach the masses via speech or communication. Identifying with a position of moral superiority? Feeling your need to be right or to be loved? While your truth is visionary, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee that the rest of the world will follow suit. Sometimes, it’s okay to identify more with who you are when defending than who you are when embraced. Where you are expecting solidarity and validation, try becoming a better listener. Once you truly come to understand the power of humility, you’ll reach new heights and experience much-needed inner growth.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Healthy curiosity, asking questions to learn how others think, seeing all sides of the situation, tact, logic, communication of internal dichotomies, a positive approach to life and other people, purposely cheering others up, taking a non-threatening approach to idea expression, listening, openness to new ideas and experiences, getting the facts first.
Rx: Sans Air Purifier
While pop astrology inspires a host of provocative Gemini associations – from the twins to lovers to two-faced liars – the original, matrifocal ruler of the mutable air sign is ‘Dove Goddess’ Eurynome. She is the spirit of God moving upon the waters in Genesis, creator of wind, the ‘Breath of the Universe’ – that moving, invisible yet omnipotent feminine force. In Eurynome, symbol of the heart’s freeing flight, poetry and joy coexist. Consciousness ripples and awakens to endless expression of airy-mental receptivity and perception. Are you working with the breath to connect head to heart, or are you feeling heavy with grief, fallen prey to media-addiction and mental agitation? While it’s certainly not one or the other, clearing the air can go a long way in terms of ensuring that the breath we are taking in is not adding more weight to the toxic load. If you’re spiritual, you know that the breath is life force energy, the very ‘Breath of God’ the Dove Goddess embodies in her prayer of peace. If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line home air purification system, look no further than Sans, the brand quietly gaining traction among those burned out by overcomplicated wellness tech. Home wellness fatigue is real – and even if you don’t have any other Gemini placements, you’ve probably learned the hard way that information is not the same as wisdom. Craving a simple, effective remedy for seasonal allergies, pet dander and urban air pollution? For the spiritual aspirant, access to clean air and water is a must. With the rise of minimalist wellness, Sans fits the bill.

Dragon’s Head in Cancer *Seeking to Belong*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Constance Wu
The soul purpose here revolves around nurturing, caregiving and emotional intimacy. Putting huge emphasis on creating a secure and loving environment, one may feel drawn to establish a family, build traditions and nurture roots. In this lifetime you are learning to embrace vulnerability, empathize with others and protect safe space for emotional sharing. With a natural inclination towards caregiving and service, caution around over-attachment and codependency. This is a lifetime of boundary work. One finds great fulfillment in caring for others, so long as one avoids becoming overly invested in their lives. Feeling controlled by your family, or cut off and isolated from the world? Do you dream of getting emotional needs met through dating, but revealing your true self feels risky? Are your actions guided by fear? Terrified of being weak, once you learn to speak up and ask for care courageously, others go out of their way to show it. Deeply wanting to belong, you’re looking for a warm embrace filled with complete acceptance and devotion. Don’t be afraid to throw the best temper tantrums! Wanting to be babied isn’t a crime. While you may educate yourself on love languages or attachment theory, knowing everything there is to know about feeling states, you still believe relationships require a sense of indebtedness. Guilt is one such feeling of indebtedness, but it only makes you feel increasingly shameful and afraid. Ranking others by how available they are emotionally, consider that healing and growth begin with asking for what you need out loud without anticipating others’ reactions.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Empathy, nurturing and supporting others, noticing and validating feelings, building one’s own foundation of security, honest disclosure of feelings and insecurities, humility, acceptance of others’ foibles and fluctuating moods without judgment, staying centered in one’s own feelings.

Dragon’s Head in Leo *The Lioness ROARS*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Latto
This nodal orientation entails a struggle for will – an individual learning to develop strength within oneself. Overcoming a lackadaisical, carefree attitude, many folks with Dragon’s Head in Leo live a rags-to-riches life. The tendency to overlook is turned into an ability to oversee. Conditions force one to stand alone, eventually learning that if life is to be better one must make it so. While the Dragon’s Tail in Aquarius suggests past lives strongly embedded in principles of fairness and equality, the continuance of a past life prioritizing friendship actually weakens this native, doing little to build confidence. Isolation is a self-imposed prerequisite for gathering strength. Eventually, one realizes that nothing will exist in the future that is not created now. The main difficulty is a lack of self-control. Without discipline and orientation towards a goal, one only wastes generative power in useless projects.
Happiness is reached once one commits to an unshakable set of principles by which one can live, showing others as flamboyantly as possible how to overcome their burdens. Come to see your core self clearly, rising up in leadership which never violates one’s ingrained sense of justice. One must dig in (rather than dissociate) from life. Greatest achievements occur once you surrender your will to humanity. Apply Uranian ingenuity through practical and traditional Leonine outlets such as creative self-expression, teaching, parenting, sports or the performing arts.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Individuality, willingness to take center stage, following the heart’s desires, willpower, enthusiasm, self-confidence, taking risks, relating to the inner-child, enjoying life and having fun, looking at life like a game.
Rx: Hair Wellness Collection
On the path to self-fulfillment, therapeutic isolation need not exclude personal style. In the sign of royals, Dragon’s Head in Leo roars, no mane will be left behind! Does yours need a little boost? Dragon’s Head in Virgo *Oceans of Idealism*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Jaden Smith
Dragon’s Head in Virgo signifies a karmic path focused on developing a stronger work ethic, attention to detail, service to others and a focus on well-being. Releasing perfectionist tendencies and embracing a more holistic approach to life, this nodal axis encourages one to find ways to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others through practical acts of service. Searching for God in the details of things, there’s an anxiety and hyper-vigilance to these natives, who often dissipate energy wondering about what happens if everything goes wrong. Learning how to make quiet ideas loud, one seeks out institutions or communities that act as a buffer against personal insecurities. Whether worrying about an uncertain future or how others react to one’s internet personas, there’s a lot of social fear shored up here. Your Dragon’s Tail in Pisces understands how anxiety is a political issue, challenging others to recognize how concern is a form of empathy with the power to transform into action. Are you expecting yourself to do everything perfectly the first time? Are you denying intimacy because you are afraid you won’t know how to have the perfect relationship? PERFECTIONISM (trying to protect oneself by anticipating disappointment) camouflages itself as IDEALISM (the work of imagining a different future). Make space for mistakes and uncertainty within your bottomless ocean of idealism. On a mission to be more logical and learn to let go, in this lifetime you are attracting partners that respect and treat you like an equal. Self-forgiveness affords inner peace, which in turn yields more relationships of substance. Once you know your value – developing inner trust and confidence – others will see it too. A gifted mentor with teaching ability, one can help others discover their true path.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Participation, bringing order to chaos, creating routines, focusing on the here and now, acting on feelings of compassion, service, analyzing and categorizing, gaining self-confidence through experience, moderation, taking risks in spite of fears, noticing and valuing details.

Dragon’s Head in Libra *Winning Ain’t Everything*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Zendaya
Pioneering individualism is a blessing enabling this native to help provide others with a more harmonious experience. Learning sacrifice and the needs of others, all of the lifetimes of work spent building self-esteem must now be transferred to others. Fiercely guard against ego driving your actions, as a longstanding me-first attitude only affords painful experiences. This soul is learning cooperation. Tendency to be contrary? Do you feel that listening to others only hampers forward motion? Slow down and make sure that all you are working for is meaningful. In past incarnations, progress and getting there first were all that mattered. Frustration blocked authentic self-expression. Needless to say, Dragon’s Tail in Aries self-love looms as a seemingly impossible hurdle to overcome. Curb vanity and selfishness, unless you wish to go it alone. Much of the current life feels like one painful blow to the ego after the next. Deep down one knows one is to give rather than receive, however it feels hard to accept this with an open heart. Surrender the selfish ego and accept living in a world built on sharing. Even as the Martian drive of the Dragon’s Tail ruthlessly pushes you forth in new directions, upon arrival at each destination, one only finds the ethereal cloud of Libra in the middle of the seesaw, surprised to discover that the goal was not a goal at all. Each shiny new ambition only brings one back to Libra’s murky half-way point! Eventually, one must learn that winning or losing the game is much less important than the fairness by which it is played. The key to growth lies in learning to reflect back upon oneself through the eyes of others.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Cooperation, diplomacy and tact, awareness of others’ needs, selflessness (giving support without expecting reciprocity), creating win/win scenarios, sharing, communicating self-identity.

Dragon’s Head in Scorpio *Accepting Revolutionary Change*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Charlize Theron
With Dragon’s Head in Scorpio, this most mysterious soul craves to engage with the most profound level of existence. The dark side, including what is forbidden or secret, becomes the fuel of total transformation. Moving away from Taurean extremes of material possessiveness, one is learning to cultivate Scorpion mastery around the equitable sharing of common resources. Learning to be less self-reliant and set in one’s ways opens one up to greater success and satisfaction which is shared. Loosening the grip on security and resisting comfort ruts ushers in deeper levels of intimacy which initiate renewal and regeneration. Persevere even if one must call on blind trust; this is the placement of a spiritual seeker. One is learning to accept revolutionary changes in the self. Dreaming of rest, one imagines the soul journey is finally over. Tired from past lives yoked to earthly burdens, whatever the cost, one needs to feel settled. As a result, one finds it difficult to cultivate the strength required for future changes, tenaciously clinging to old coping strategies and habits well past their peak. Attached to doing things the hard way? Expending so much physical energy weakens spiritual life. Blinded from seeing any new possibilities, even when one makes changes, they are in fact not changes at all, but merely aspects of the same behavior patterns. Early on, one learned what was pleasurable and how to obtain it. Nevertheless, one always seems to fall short of satisfaction. Moving along the most decadent of paths, the more possessions one acquires, the more trapped and dissatisfied one feels. Lifetimes of acquiring substance becomes the excess baggage of the century. Killing old behavior patterns and burning bridges along the way, experiences teach one how to cut ties cleanly, with the biggest growth occurring once one can truly let go. In the process of discarding what is in excess, leave behind everything but the essential self. Out of this grand symbolic death of all one has ever known arrives the rebirth one secretly craves.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Self-discipline, choosing constructive change, releasing whatever causes stagnation or low energy, eliminating non-useful possessions, enjoying things without having to own them, accepting support from others (ideas, money, opportunities), enjoying high-risk situations that make one feel alive, awareness of others psychology, openness to partnering/supporting/merging power with others.
Rx: FemFlora Probiotic
Few signs benefit as readily from the psychological shifts elicited by sex as does the Scorpion. And yet, despite being pegged as the most sex-crazed, Scorpio is rarely in search of sex for sex’s sake. Correlated with the ‘Crone’ stage of the Triple Goddess, ages 49-56 and the onset of menopause – Scorpio energy invokes Plutonian growth via elimination. One reason why Scorpios exude so much sexual energy is that they often lack the means of properly expressing it, as part of their work is to resacralize the act of sex, to wield their over-the-top animal magnetism for good. If you’re a femme looking for healthy love – why not start by cultivating a healthy microbial balance of the vaginal tract. While shutting down male psychological toxicity is one thing, it’s equally important to use discretion when it comes to allowing someone else’s acidic body part into your holy sanctuary. With upwards of 9.8 billion CFU from 7 clinically studied lactobacillus strains, Swanson FemFlora Probiotic for Women supports digestive, urinary and vaginal health. Designed specifically for the female body, it’s an acid-resistant probiotic supplement formulated to support the flora of the mouth, gastrointestinal tract and vagina. Studies confirm that a healthy microbial balance greatly influences both intestinal and systemic immunity. An affordable supplement with no refrigeration necessary, FemFlora is an easy way to keep your tissues clean, healthy and multi-orgasmic!

Dragon’s Head in Sagittarius *Finding the Real You*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Eva Mendes
With natural cleverness, one learns everything about everything. A soul filled with intellectual knowledge, you’ve spent many incarnations studying the fine print, asking the right questions and searching for truth. One could easily become a public influencer bringing about changes in thinking. With the soul of a street poet and rabble-rouser, you’re voicing the needs of the common man and maybe even playing a ‘Robinhood’ of sorts in the economy. The ability to communicate thoughtfully and drive others to understand and feel impassioned directs your worldly aspirations. But are you dabbling without committing to a particular project, path or person? Curb that need to be constantly fascinated or risk being perma-seduced by the kaleidoscopic flicker of content-free imagery. Is your intelligence being stretched and your curiosity truly fed? Connect back to Earth/body, tapping into the five senses and releasing the incessant, free-wheeling pulsations of the mind! Avoid limiting oneself unknowingly by mental overstimulation or by overdoing logic at the expense of intuition. Tune out distractions to build faith in your intuition so that you can prioritize and follow your higher vision. The Dragon’s Tail in Gemini means you’re used to navigating spaces where your experience does not exist. Expert at figuring out what other people want to hear and saying that to get by, the mental maneuvering you perform to simply exist proves exhausting, even if hiding behind elegant word salad creates temporary security. Early on you learned how to gloss over things, how to spin emotion so that it lands differently based on your intended audience. You’re not inherently dishonest, just afraid that confrontation will break a relationship. In this lifetime, you are learning that real relationships involve the real you, not a trickster cosplay of yourself sculpted in service of others.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Intuition, prophetic abilities and invisible guidance, speaking from higher consciousness, spontaneity, developing a sense of freedom and adventure, direct (censorship-free) communication, self-trust, spending time alone in nature, patience, listening to hear the meaning behind the words.
Rx: The Anti-Dandruff System
Is your intellectually insatiable Dragon’s Tail leading your mind to obliterate the body with thoughts? Can you take a mental pause long enough to hear the voice of eternal truth, stepping foot on the higher, most expansive path of your soul’s yearning? In the Jupiter-ruled sign of Sag, your Dragon’s Head is cutting out excess to dial in God’s grace. Enter Jupiter, the ‘Great Benefic’ ruling Sagittarius, the energy of expansion, optimism and spiritual elevation. From the company that goes by the same name, your Rx is the latest in elevated scalp care powered by rosemary oil. If the crown chakra is our spiritual antenna, then the health of our scalp is crucial to receiving its cosmic downloads with ease.
Targeting the root cause of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and the symptoms of both with salon-quality, dermatologist-tested products, Jupiter’s premier Anti-Dandruff System harnesses the natural antimicrobial and antifungal benefits of powerhouse herb rosemary oil. Supporting overall scalp balance and hydration in a lightweight, daily formula – added botanical ingredients like squalane and coconut oil ensure the scalp and hair stay hydrated and healthy. The complete Anti-Dandruff System includes Balancing Shampoo, Nourishing Conditioner, Restoring Serum and a mousse-like Purifying Mask made with charcoal. Safe for color and chemically treated hair. Free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, dyes and synthetic fragrances. Personally, I love these luxurious formulations for their velvety texture and subtle 100% natural scent.

Dragon’s Head in Capricorn *The Role Model*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Princess Nokia
One’s life path is about building stability, achieving long-term goals, developing discipline and taking on leadership roles. Cultivate a more serious and responsible demeanor to reach full potential. In past lives, one had a tendency to wear rose-colored glasses, seeing only what one wanted to see with the conviction that everything else didn’t exist. There is still much of the Cancerian ‘Baby’ of your Dragon’s Tail alive within. Letting go proves difficult. At times, one can come off as extremely draining, using whatever is done for you as a springboard to ask for more and refusing to see logic through clouds of emotion. ‘Goodbye’ is hardly a part of your vocabulary; one may hang on to relationships far after they have served their purpose. In a prior life one wrestled with dependencies, and the resulting shambles of escapist, childlike tendencies bleed through into the current incarnation. Are you looking for a symbolic parent to take care of life for you? As if they could protect you from the big mess you have created all on your own? Soul memories of past-life helplessness linger. In today’s world, not everyone finds that the home/family is a shelter. Maybe one experienced home as a cult, a danger, an inconsistent house of horrors. While the Dragon’s Tail in Cancer makes one feel more secure when needed, when it comes to family, one must distinguish between empathy and burden. One may flounder much of early life in helpless abandon, and then one day resign to take a stand for something – aligning one’s life with ancestral principles of honor, respect and tradition. Once you begin to identify with an ideal bigger than self, coming to stand for something responsibly, you become a role model for many. At times, personal issues deplete you of the strength to hold up this image, and yet hold it up you must.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Self-control, self-respect, self-care, goal-orientation, sensible approaches to problem solving, adulting, keeping commitments and promises, letting go of the past, accepting responsibility for success/failure.
Rx: MINT ProTools
With your Dragon’s Head moonlighting as the wise elder of the zodiac, one is capable of absolute self-mastery. Taking responsibility is the primary karmic lesson. The brush’s elegant handle is made from durable Ash wood, hand-carved to perfectly stimulate acupressure points of the hand while in use. From the company with over forty years in the beauty industry, there’s simply nothing like it.

Dragon’s Head in Aquarius *Power to the People*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Erykah Badu
Destined to change the world, this incarnation is about shaking up the status quo and bringing power back to the people. Personal breakthroughs come as a result of many humbling experiences. The aim is to marry the leadership qualities and creative self-expression of your Dragon’s Tail in Leo with the idealism, altruism and inventive genius of your Dragon’s Head in Aquarius. With a naturally enthusiastic, sunny nature, you enjoy making others laugh, fascinating others with your passion, creative vision and self-expression. Rather than wait for applause, make the conscious effort to be part of something greater than yourself. This native is on a soul mission to become a visionary for humanity – a poster child for all that is new, progressive and radical. Make your own rules and be original. In relationships, anything goes! An innovator and rule breaker, just make sure you’re playing fair! This nodal axis represents the struggle between personal life and impersonal dedication to humanity. In prior lives, much of life revolved around the self. This lifetime calls on one to assume the role of ‘Waterbearer,’ becoming an instrument in the crusade for world evolution. Uproot any feelings of intense pride, arrogance or condescension. With a strong tendency to dominate those close to you, there is so much martyr-like romanticism with the Dragon’s Tail in Leo, one can easily slip into the role of Don Quixote chasing windmills! Ego-centric displays no longer bring any lasting happiness. Driven to reach the top and grab the brass ring, one is repulsed by mediocrity. Learn to overcome any sense of prestige and entitlement, developing a moral code of universal equality. Coming to see oneself as part of a larger cosmic sphere, you are suited to bear the burden of shared humanity as never before.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Objectivity, desire for friendship, making decisions based on the group’s best interest, willingness to share unconventional ideas and champion humanitarian causes, active participation in groups, awareness of equality, relating to others separate from their social roles, creating win/win scenarios.
Rx: CJB Precision Mesh Stone
Much like your righteous Dragon’s Head in Aquarius, the CJB Precision Mesh Stone fashioned with Mookaite Jasper revamps centuries-old wellness from a consciously scientific approach. Based on the traditional Eastern stone tool known as the Gua Sha, the unique angles, beveled edges and smooth texture of CBJ’s Precision Mesh Stone afford the built-in acupressure points necessary to perform specific facial massage techniques around the eyes, nose and lips. Benefits of using the stone daily include re-patterning signs of aging, firming and lifting, relief of sinus pressure, renewing facial contours, diminishing dark circles, reducing puffiness, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and brightening the overall complexion to reduce dark spots and blemishes. Great for all skin types, the newly patented model is upgraded to enhance skin elasticity, reduce inflammation, increase micro-circulation and lymphatic flow – making it unlike any other tool on the market. For centuries, the Gua Sha has been used to promote overall skin health. Now, esthetician turned CBJ wellness founder Cecily Braden has brought her own research-backed approach to this age-old practice. Working in synchronicity with the muscles to support the natural function of the skin, the stone can be used with light pressure for lymphatic drainage, medium pressure to target fine lines and wrinkles or firm pressure to relieve muscle tension. Each stone comes with an educational tutorial designed to help users achieve their intended benefit.

Dragon’s Head in Pisces *Spiritual Integration*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Rihanna
In the realm of consciousness, this is the hardest nodal position to deal with. The Virgo-Pisces polarity centers practical service, mind-body healing and spiritual integration. The key is balancing Virgo’s grounded, detail-oriented action with Pisces’s compassionate empathy and mystical mojo. This is an invitation to integrate spiritual knowing, but not merely through conceptual understanding. The gift here is an opportunity to shift one’s consciousness. Can you allow the quotidian stuff of daily life to become fodder for a profound spiritual connection? A journey marked by spiritual depth, peace and acceptance – your life focus is compassion, flexibility, empathy, sacred service, healing gifts and sensitivity to underdogs. Realizing one’s own rigidity, in this lifetime, one becomes aware of personal patterns and how they hurt you. Inevitably, one is confronted with circumstances that force one to relinquish control. Learning to surrender and immerse oneself in the flow of cosmic consciousness, one is courting faith and heightening compassion. Once one stops compartmentalizing the whole damn world, one catches that first glimpse of universal consciousness. When one’s neatly laid plans dissolve into nothing, one begins to see others in a new light. One must go through the pain of the entire universe in order to strengthen one’s sense of Divine Love to the point that one no longer passes judgment on others. Mindfulness is essential lest one might slip into martyrdom, escapism, self-criticism, sabotage or victimhood. Are you willing to settle for less than perfection? Are you terrified of your pain? Pain shows us the parts of ourselves that beg forgiveness. Give yourself the gift of self-acceptance, which is not earned through labor but must be granted through compassionate understanding.
Discover hidden treasures by developing: Compassion, being non-judgmental, surrendering anxiety to a higher power, meditation and self-reflection, trusting in positive outcomes, connection with the greater unified field, welcoming change.
Rx: Skullcandy

On a mission to connect the fearless ones and amplify experiences while unleashing creativity on the mountains, beaches, and streets – Skullcandy is equal parts form and function.
