Archetype of the rule-breaker, boundary-tester and seeker of second chances, dwarf planet Ixion is considered Pluto’s ‘lawless brother’ in astrology. Mythically condemned to a “Spinning Wheel of Fire,” Ixion symbolizes continuous, repetitive cycles. When working with the energy of Ixion we can expect to repeatedly confront similar life lessons until we acknowledge and learn from them. While Ixion’s lawlessness feels intoxicating, it’s not the same as following our bliss…
In The Astrology of Ixion: Pluto’s Lawless Brother Our New Seeker Consciousness, what I draw from in the Ixion Rx by house below, Alan Clay outlines how Ixion helps us reclaim the energy of our inner ‘Bad’ Boy or Girl. In today’s era of rapid consciousness development, it’s no coincidence that the higher wisdom of outer planets like Ixion and Pluto (don’t forget the third brother Orcus!) is increasingly relevant to our contemporary lived experiences. A dwarf planet located just beyond Neptune in the Kuiper Belt, Ixion’s elongated comet-like orbital period is slightly longer than Pluto’s, clocking in at 251 years. When Ixion was discovered in 2001 by a team of American Astronomers, he was the second outer dwarf planet to be discovered, a herald of many more to come. Among those discoveries was another or Pluto’s brothers named Orcus. If Ixion is the lawless brother of Pluto, Orcus is the straight-talking one. A guardian of our developing karmic integrity, together the trio reflects the many-layered ways in which we are continually called to transmute our shadows into light.
Inclined to the ecliptic like all of the Neptunian-objects, both Pluto and Ixion spend part of each orbit in the underworld and part above. While Ixion’s Plutonian signature means his work is to cut through existing systems of consensus reality, Ixion works more out in the open than Pluto, the Lord of Death. Technically classified as a Plutino, Ixion shares many of the attributes of this class. One important factor is the Plutino groups’ 2:3 orbital resonance with Neptune, which means that for every three Neptune orbits of the Sun, Ixion completes two. While their paths never cross, this resonance imbues Ixion’s energy with a spiritual quality. Whereas Neptune’s influence is essentially nebulous, Ixion’s climactic ‘seeker consciousness’ brings focus to even the most diffuse of sacred visions, catalyzing the resilience necessary to see beyond duality, beyond norms, beyond dogma. As Clay writes in his book, Ixion likewise “gives us the strength to pursue our spiritual passion,” so long as we begin from a place of accepting our passionate nature without submitting to the throes of every desire.

According to Boots Hart of Daykeeper Journal, this is the “Plutonic Effect,” or “reflective/reflection” aspect of the Plutinos and other Kuiper Belt objects. Whereas the process of choosing what and how to invest ourselves in and take emotional risks for is an aspect of Mars, traditional ruler of Scorpio, the aftereffects (once we’ve taken the risk) relate to Pluto, Scorpio’s modern co-ruler and Lord of the Plutinos. Plutonian energy forces change, and usually with a great deal of discomfort and reluctance on the part of us humans. Considering that Ixion is originally a descendant of Ares, Lord of War (Roman Mars), the grander trajectory of transformation starts to cohere. If Mars is the initiator of the zodiac, Pluto (and his gang of Plutinos) rules the final outcome. If Mars is our sex drive, Pluto (the higher octave) is the forces of eros transmuted into soul growth. Essentially, Pluto works in this way by “changing how we feel about ourselves, given what we’ve chosen and been through,” writes Hart. Sounds easy so far? Well then, you probably haven’t yet worked through many Pluto probs.
Whereas astrology’s inner planets (also called personal planets) deal in our feelings, thoughts and ideas, values, agency, luck and the material rewards that all of these aspects bring; the outer planets (also called transpersonal planets) take us beyond ego consciousness. Another way to think about this is explained through how the gravity of the Sun and Neptune “pull all the planets between them into a plane called the ecliptic, which represents the consensus reality of our common beliefs,” writes Clay. With Neptune traditionally considered the outer limit of the solar system, it’s known as the planet of spirituality and higher love. Boots Hart writes, “Neptune divides ‘what we can know’ from ‘what we cannot know’ as fact. Neptune thus becomes the symbol of trust—our ability to trust and issues of trust—as a personal, life-long lesson.”
Uranus, which orbits the Sun in the opposite direction to most planets, is our bohemian side, our inner queerdom, calling us to wake up and raise our freak flag high! While Pluto crystallizes our psychological awareness, Ixion, his lawless brother, represents our seeker consciousness. As we develop spiritually, Ixion encourages us to bravely rebirth ourselves into the authenticity of our highest bliss. Ixion encourages us to be more fully ourselves, quirks and all! When we begin to look at the outer planets in this way, viewing them as energies we have direct access to, rather than unconscious influences to which we must submit, “outer planets become like a new super-consciousness,” informs Clay.

Mythically speaking, Ixion was a King of the Lapiths characterized by woeful pride, self-absorption, failure to capitalize on second chances, and the ultimate destiny of eternal punishment. Captivating as it is cautionary, Ixion’s identity fuses greatness and disgrace, infamy and tragedy. Once an influential King, Ixion would soon become known for a series of misdeeds that would abdicate his mortal authority and lead to his tragic downfall. Ixion’s most famous social transgression began with failing to deliver to his Father-in-law the promised bride price. As the husband of Dia, Ixion promised her father Deioneus a gift he never gave. To punish Ixion, Deioneus stole some of his horses. Ixion, enraged, organized a feast and invited his Father-in-law, whom he immediately pushed into burning coals upon his arrival. Hailed by my accounts as the first kinslayer —an offense that carried a terrible stigma in ancient Greek society – Ixion’s reputation was cooked.
As he was thrown out of Olympus, Zeus, King of the Gods, hurled a thunderbolt after the outlaw. In other versions of the myth, it was Zeus who took pity on Ixion. When Zeus took Ixion to Mount Olympus and introduced him to all the other gods there, Ixion not only showed zero appreciation, he committed a worse sin. No sooner has Ixion been absolved of his wickedness than he would fall dangerously in lust with Zeus’ wife, Hera. Meanwhile, Zeus devised a cunning plan to expose Ixion’s bad intentions. Creating a cloud in the likeness of Hera, known as Nephele, he tricked Ixion into thinking he was seducing the goddess. As Ixion committed the ultimate act of betrayal, he not only forever sealed his fate with the gods, but from this untimely union, a race of centaurs was born—half-human, half-horse creatures who would later play significant roles in Greek myths.
Through his union with Nephele, Ixion fathered the Centaurs, all those brothers and sisters of ‘Wounded Healer’ Chiron. Symbolic of illusion and the perils of pursuing forbidden desires, cloud-goddess Nephele exposes Ixion’s lustful intentions, cementing literary allusions to the cloud as an emblem of confusion, delusion, trickery and misplaced desire. Meanwhile, enter the centaurs, mythic creatures that represent the merging of man/nature, as well as the chaos and lack of control we often associate with our base desires. With a reputation for treachery, Ixion’s legacy not only emphasizes the unbearable price of hubris but also underscores the reality that not even Kings, despite their earthly power, are immune to divine retribution.

Officially expelled from heaven, Ixion’s final fate was to be bound with snakes to a burning wheel in hell, where he would spin for all eternity. In other versions, as punishment for his audacious act, Ixion was banished and condemned to Tartarus, the deepest abyss of the Underworld, where the souls of the wicked suffered for their sins. There, he was bound to a fiery wheel, or in other mythic iterations, a perpetually spinning fiery chariot. A vivid reminder of the inescapable nature of torment, Ixion is, in some texts, grouped with Tantalus and Sisyphus, all known for their severe and eternal punishments. While Ixion is bound to a fiery wheel, Tantalus suffers from unending hunger and thirst. Sisyphus endlessly rolls a boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down.
Ixion’s punishment served as a warning to mortals about the consequences of disrespecting the gods and violating the laws of hospitality. Whatever the ultimate outcome, Ixion lived in eternal torment and became a cautionary tale of Greek mythology. While the name ‘Ixion’ has no clear Greek origin, it has become synonymous with betrayal and punishment. In English, Ixion now refers to a person who suffers an unending cycle of retribution for their sins. Reminding us humans of the consequences of greed, hubris and broken promises, Ixion’s outcast/outlaw status teaches us to not only accept but to learn from our failures.

Passed down creatively for generations as a moral lesson, Ixion’s story has been monumentalized in paintings, sculptures and literature. In painterly renditions, Ixion is commonly depicted strapped to a spinning wheel, his face a cocktail of agony and regret. You may know Ixion from Charles Dickens’ “David Copperfield” and “Bleak House,” or “The Rape of the Lock” by Alexander Pope. Jeremy Neal of Chirotic Astrology adds to this list Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables, a monumental work whose Ixion-like premise is a society that has lost its soul, having become heartless and uncaring. What is the antidote? Ixion doesn’t double-down on the shadow; he is, after all, a Plutino! Ixion is not our greed, but our renewed awareness of our compassionate hearts. Hence, the antidote begins with greater awareness of the gap between our intention and impact.
In an article on Kerykeion, we find that the dwarf planet of moral boundaries encapsulates all those “shadows of entitlement” beneath the surface of consciousness. Poised metaphorically at the “edge of remorse,” we find Ixion, a morally complex planet that helps humans navigate the tension between entitlement and accountability. “Ixion rules the darker, more narcissistic impulse to take what one wants regardless of the cost to others, and the subsequent failure to feel guilt,” informs the blog. Very much an intense moral reckoning point in the chart, here we must first dissect the narcissistic belief that we are above the law. What exactly is the cost of a lack of remorse? And what about collective remorse in a culture that promotes and rewards narcissism? Cycles of repercussions. According to Kerykeion, this also applies to collective remorse. Anyone or anything that breaks the social contract, including corporate greed and environmental destruction, is subject to the same karmic laws.

A significator of our most passionate, lawless energy, we can develop the story of our natal Ixion by looking at the sign and house placement of the dwarf when we were born. Because Ixion moves very slowly, most readers will have Ixion either in Libra or Scorpio, with the house providing a more personalized expression of the energies. As a slow-moving generational influence, Ixion’s sign placement defines the moral and ethical climate of an entire generation. According to Kerykeion, each transit represents an “archetypal lens through which a generation will test the limits of societal laws, face the consequences of massive betrayals, and grapple with the concept of collective remorse.” While Ixion’s house placement can still touch on broader issues such as the ethical limits of accumulation and the fundamental value of Earth’s resources, this energy affects us in ways uniquely designed for our soul growth. Before we get into the more personalized Ixion astro-insights by house to follow, let’s dive deeper into the planet’s meaning and purpose.
Once we’re on the spiritual path, Ixion fans the flames of our greater authenticity, giving us the boldness to violate existing customs, define our own rules and live life on our own terms. If you were to have a positively aspected Ixion, this often feels like an independent streak that helps you bend the rules to your advantage and maintain authenticity on the spiritual path. So long as we respect the implicit agreements in our relationships, staying sensitive to both spoken and unspoken boundaries with others, we find a wellspring of joy in life that carries us through our darkest days. While Ixion of myth lacks any sense of right or wrong, he teaches us to “take the tiger by the tail and create change, secure in the knowledge that we have to break some eggs to make an omelet,” affirms Clay.

Once we learn to cultivate an inner rebel in full commitment to what brings us joy and purpose, “the universe will open doors by presenting opportunities and connections we wouldn’t have otherwise found,” informs Clay. In other words, once you release the hubris generated by ego, you will start to encounter others in your field of bliss. In his book, Clay quotes Joseph Campbell, who said, “If you follow your bliss, you put yourself in a kind of track that has been there all the while waiting for you, and the life you ought to be living is the one you are living.”
In his book, Clay divulges the Sabian symbol of the zodiac degree associated with Ixion’s discovery, as well as covers other notable discovery events of that year. Discovered at 5° Sagittarius, Ixion’s birth moment correlates to the Sabian Symbol delineated as:
[A Game of Cricket] The Development of Skill in group-situations testing collective-goals. Any society is built on the interplay between groups of people, each group united by an at least temporary aim. The individual person within the group is assigned a particular role in the play; and definite rules have to be obeyed. The game teaches not only personal skill, but fairness and cooperation…the value of making individual-will or ego-will subservient to collective cultural patterns is emphasized.

Suggesting themes around the importance of developing group solidarity, Ixion’s discovery degree seems to further explore the intersection of our individual path of bliss with our designated role in the larger socio-cultural environment. As Clay chides throughout the book, Ixion requires us to dig deeper into our personal morals and ethics, continually asking ourselves, “Are the rules we’re playing by the right ones?”
As for the discovery events of 2021, Clay names the birth of the iPod and Wikipedia, with the latter’s free, web-based, collaborative and crowd-sourced, multilingual encyclopedia project with articles numbering in the tens of millions exemplifying Ixion in Sagittarius’ unceasing search for meaning and understanding, along with its broader, dynamic role in the evolution of group consciousness. That same year, the Netherlands became the first country to legalize same-sex marriage, a reflection of shifting cultural values whereby the satisfaction of repressed desires eroded the primacy of sex-shaming and church dogma. The final discovery event Clay names is the 911 Terror Attack, which led to 3,000 American deaths on September 11, 2001. Clay writes that this is “Ixion at the unconscious level,” that the lawless quality of Ixion means that he can “encourage us to got to any extreme,” to the point that “casualties are immaterial.” Which is why, for un-evolved folks, we often see Ixion energy manifesting in the form of selfish actions with no regard for the consequences, followed by heavy retributions.
If Ixion is the wild child inside each and every one of us, the acceleration of our Ixion consciousness and Ixion potential won’t necessarily be a straight and narrow path. As we let ourselves court inventiveness and joy in life, we may push the envelope socially. Here Clay notes that Ixion’s play-space is very much in the grey area between
our personal inhibitions and unspoken relational agreements. At the personal level, “Ixion compulsively urges us to disregard personal boundaries and take what we want when we want it, without any consideration for others.” Initially, recognizing our passionate nature may give us a type of outcast or outlaw status, but the goal is to reintegrate into the whole. That is, learning when and how to bend the rules, never failing to learn from our experiences. The more spiritually evolved we become, the more successfully we are able to consciously transmute our base emotions and live life on our own terms. With Ixion’s seeker consciousness enabling us to chart our own course, initially, this is often as simple as following our heart and making more efforts to be spontaneous.
When the old rules no longer bear relevance, are we pushing up against the right boundaries? Do you let yourself take holidays? Do you learn from your mistakes and internalize the lessons? Are you in tune with your deeper urges and desires? When we fail to claim our inner wild child, Ixion will likely show up in our lives as undesirable people who mirror this energy back to us until we fully claim it for ourselves. “As you own this energy, you will find that there is no need for it to manifest as others pushing you to be more authentic,” writes Clay. Because the energy of Ixion is still largely new to the astrological discourse, it’s important to flesh out our study with case studies. Clay highlights two notable contemporary figures in his book, both with Midheaven conjunct Ixion: The former Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry and Swedish climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

In the case of Prince Harry, the exact Midheaven conjunction fits nicely with his public reputation. Called ‘the naughty one’ of the family by his late mother, Princess Diana, in his teens, the media labeled Harry a ‘wild child’ for underage drinking and fights with paparazzi outside nightclubs. His more recent resignation from his royal duties, in order to both live more authentically and prioritize his wife and family, also clearly enacts the expansive seeker consciousness promised by Ixion. In a Wall Street Journal article about Harry’s memoir, we hear of “A New Age story of suffering and rebirth.” Not only does Harry travel “his path alone,” he is “guided by drugs, spirit animals sent by his late mother, Diana, and daily yoga and meditation.” As the maturing Prince shifted away from the patriarchal, Eurocentric values of his royal British upbringing, his new social mission has led him to activism with his wife, campaigning for causes revolving around mental health issues, personal authenticity, social justice, and protective fatherhood.
“Who resigns from being a Prince? That’s a fairytale role,” questions Clay. While Harry’s actions surely shocked many, others perceived in the split an opportunity for the “flowering of his values and his relationship,” writes Clay. During the transition out of his royal duties, Clay notes that transiting Ixion was inconjunct Harry’s natal North Node in the 4th house of home and psychic roots, indicating that the split was “a destined move to create a sacred space for family.” Likewise, at the opposite end of the spectrum, transiting Ixion was semi-sextile Harry’s South Node in the 10th house of career destiny, signaling that the resignation would “help him resolve karma about his place in society,” concludes Clay.
Greta Thunberg, with Ixion conjunct her MC and South Node, began her climate change activism at age fifteen, when she stopped attending school to protest in front of Swedish Parliament during the country’s hottest summer in almost 300 years. With Ixion’s karmic eloquence and lawless spirit, Thunberg makes climate change activism personal. Greta also openly identifies as autistic, which she refers to as her ‘superpower.’ With the onset of symptoms causing Thunberg to essentially withdraw into selective mutism at the age of 11, in her family’s documentary, we learn that Greta’s initial withdrawal was a reaction to the severe distress caused by watching videos of starving polar bears and extreme weather. With a directness that cuts through political jargon and forces people awake to the urgency of the global environmental crisis, Thunberg’s protests have gained significant media attention while empowering countless other young people to get engaged, leading to Thunberg’s influence sometimes being referred to as “the Greta effect.” Within a year, her initial solo protest had inspired the global movement Fridays for Future (also known as School Strike for Climate), which mobilized millions of students worldwide to participate in weekly climate action strikes.
Extrapolating on the mythic symbolism of the cloud, Boots Hart writes that the cloud-goddess created by Zeus/Jupiter is emblematic of “a little delicious touch of quaking vulnerability,” echoing the Neptune/Pisces signature of Ixion. Jupiter, after all, was originally the co-ruler of Pisces/Neptune, of that realm known as the great oceanic unconscious. Often associated with mist or fog (again reminiscent of Zeus’ cloud), within the Pisces realm of unconditional, ‘higher love,’ one is expected to walk the path of altruism. Here again, we find all those enlivened paradoxes. Boots suggests that here we must operate from a place of “knowing what you know, while knowing you can’t know everything.” Sometimes, the moral lines aren’t as clear-cut as we think. “Sometimes we choose correctly, sometimes we don’t. And sometimes…sometimes we ask ourselves which is which,” writes Hart. When Ixion chooses his base desire with no remorse for the consequences of his actions, his union with the cloud births a monster named Centaurus, a creature “unloved by the Graces and (having) no honor among men or gods.”
But this isn’t simply a mythic lesson about what happens when we abandon ourselves or misuse power. While the centaurs are forever branded by their outsider status, existing in neither the world of men nor the domain of the gods, they are also among the most magical creatures we know. The Centaurs are creatures of both pain and promise. Being half-human, half-animal, to some, they are simply monstrosities of error. To others, they are the wayshowers to the beyond. It’s no coincidence that centaurs of myth have become the namesake of several new asteroids orbiting beyond Neptune in the outer regions of the cosmos. Chiron, for example, calls us to NOT ask what something means, but rather, assume that we live in a meaningful universe and wait for it to speak to and through us.
With spherical energy like a bridge, Chiron directs us to the higher dimensions ruled by outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Chiron is the key to mastery in the form of the conscious evolution of self with magical forces. Flying wind horse of our vital consciousness, Chiron embodies our cosmopoetic connection to the unified force field beyond what our senses perceive. When we begin to look at our own wounds in this way, we realize individuality is not an isolated phenomenon, but maintains value in transpersonal exchanges with others. When suffering opens the heart, many different dimensions of experience enter in. The more fluid our understanding, the deeper our healing.

Like Ixion, Chiron is yet another primary interface point between the inner (personal) and outer (transpersonal) planets, having rulership over that place between dimensions which is timeless, empty and placeless. Much like Ixion, Chiron causes us to suffer until we learn to effectively master the body (6th house) in order to elevate into the Kingdom of Cosmic Attunement (12th house). Chiron as primordial teacher of astrology, yoga, divination and other forms of somatic healing holds the keys to physical mastery of the body as the gateway to Neptune’s mysticism and magic, affording a clearer understanding of the 6th (health/disease) and 12th (transcendence/death) polarity. Chiron’s association with Tarot, or magical divination (hence the antiquated term chiromancy), deals with the conscious search for the exact place and time of awareness, which is a gateway to its opposite – Neptune or the cosmic soup. Chiron, The Magician (the first card and beginning of the magical quest) is at one both in the self and in the spiritual world. It’s curious that all the planets have a major Arcanum card in the Tarot except Chiron. Chiron has no corresponding card because it is Chiron that rules the Tarot reader, the chiromancer.
While astrologers use the horoscope to tell cosmic time, at first glance, the novice more often falls prey to weaponizing the stars. In effect, we judge and categorize, deepening the very polarities astrology attempts to erase. Astrology is not the blame game, and if it is a game at all, the objective is to open (not close) your heart. At its most integrated, mature expression, Ixion is the ethical guardian of the cosmos. Once we have faced the horrors of our own sense of entitlement and capacity for betrayal, we can begin to establish, honor, and deeply value relationships built on mutual trust, sharing, and reciprocity. We can also become role models in the community modeling vital clarity and accountability, upholding justice and acting with genuine empathy.
Essentially, many of us initially use astrology to prove why we are right. And yet, while conflicts of polarity are the flesh and foundation of Ixion’s story, the lesson is not necessarily about establishing right and wrong. The young King chooses to be an oath-breaker, torturer and murderer, demonstrating a horrifying lack of regard for the value of another’s life. The point is not to decide whether Ixion erred or the parameters of judgment, but to illuminate within ourselves where we have chosen to break the rules or felt above them. Boots Hart writes that Ixion energy “is never about ‘the other guy’—they have their Ixion in their chart, you have Ixion in your chart.” Wherever Ixion lies in our chart, we are in effect tested on “our ability to retain full cognizance of the ‘other,’” concludes Hart.
Where thus far has Ixion’s imprint led humanity in the most recent of its generational cycles? Ixion was in Libra from 1934 to 1965, which Clay terms the ‘Generation Gap.’ These folks grew up espousing views very different from their parents’. Guided by icons of the era, like Brigitte Bardot, who has natal Ixion in Libra, they not only didn’t accept their parents’ rules, but they were often perceived as ‘scandalous’ by the older generation. From rethinking marriage to reforming the justice system, Clay writes that these natives were the social reformers pioneering the new idea that laws need to be updated for the current time. Prior to this period, law was based on tradition; new laws were introduced that built on older laws, but older laws were seldom, if ever, repealed. Great mirror of the universe’s ethical shadow, Ixion in Libra reveals how humanity navigates entitlement and the terrifying capacity to act without remorse.
Driven to redefine justice, the unconscious expression looks like a state of chronic, exhausting relational warfare, hyper-defensiveness over personal fairness and entitlement, severe diplomatic megalomania or extreme, destructive social isolation. Social justice advocates and stewards of the collective scales, this group requires undeniable interpersonal freedom. Courting a more authentic way of loving and legislating, their generational tide is establishing appropriate relational alignment via new legal paradigms. Coming of age in an era of massive civil rights reckonings and profound crises of conscience, they reincarnated with an inherited intolerance for artificial politeness and useless rules. Explosively visible in law, art and activism – Ixion in Libra pays the price with emotional and societal upheaval. Ixion in Libra screams: Scorekeeping or Coevolved?

In Libra, Ixion constellates accountability, the social contract and the hearts of our partners – striking at the core of our most fundamental instinct to connect, form alliances, respect cosmic law and most importantly, break free from suffocating, rigid legal traditions that deny relational integrity. The higher ground is recognizing that cosmic sovereignty cannot be forged through thoughtless legal cruelty, reckless attention-seeking, scorekeeping, or destruction of societal bonds. Demanding diplomatic authenticity in consideration of the whole living ecosystem, Libran rage against systemic injustice proved a vital resource—a signal that a true, interconnected, joyful alignment with human integrity was still lacking.
Next we had the Ixion in Scorpio generations ‘cathartic reckoning’ of 1965 to 1996. Led by Ixion in Scorpio femme fatales like Beyonce, Cardi B, Ann Hathaway, and Megan Thee Stallion (on the latter end), this period offered emotional and sexual liberation, seeding the explosive growth of the modern LGBTQ+ movement and an increased interest in occult and magical practices, which began in the early 1970s. Clay shares that because each transit highlights the opposite sign, in this case Taurus, we had the ‘greed is good’ movement of the eighties, epitomized by Wall Street, Reaganomics and the rise of the prison industrial complex. With Ixion in the transformative waters of Scorpio, there is often an intense, collective or personal struggle with the shadow side of ambition, bringing a powerful reckoning around the ethics of intimacy, shared resources and power. Probing deeply into the hidden motivations within relationships, Ixion in Scorpio exposed areas where one might betray trust or test the limits of loyalty. Cathartic reckoning or ‘outcast’ status? At an unconscious level, Ixion in Scorpio often manifests as destructive, base passions and wasted second chances. If navigated with spiritual awareness, it can also fuel a passionate, transformative mission. Nothing less than a breakdown before a breakthrough placement, Ixion in Scorpio catalyzes a profound psychological rebirth.
On February 25th 2020, Ixion ingressed into Capricorn, overthrowing public preconceptions and encouraging radical philosophies as well as conspiracy theories and fake news, according to Clay. With a freedom-of-belief approach to spirituality in the air, we saw the re/birth of pluralism and its fervent fundamentalist backlash. For those born with this placement, there is a sense that one must become a fierce defender of personal freedoms, coupled with passionate curiosity about the world. Clay highlights that during this period, we began to see many folks living in “bubbles of media and friends that simply support our current worldview,” with catastrophic consequences. Ultimately, Clay writes that the goal of this transit is “to adjust our systems so each of our individual approaches can flourish within the collective.” Not only are we likely to see all the system loopholes exploited by those in power, from massive and widespread political corruption to the rise of criminal regimes, the end result, informs Clay, will afford us “greater individual freedom within society.” And yet, not without a bit of pushback in the form of the sign’s polarity, ala Cancerian ‘return to family values’ or patriotism.

Jeremy Neal of Chirotic Astrology, meanwhile, discovered that the moment Ixion went into 0° Capricorn, the Coronavirus went global. Anytime we have planetary energy at 0° Capricorn or 0° Aries (corresponding to Winter and Spring Equinox), we know that something is brewing that will affect humanity as a whole. Capricorn, being the sign of wealth and Ixion a cautionary warning that greed leads to suffering, as an archetypal template, this transit is most relevant to those groups or individuals who “through wealth, privilege and power assume they are not subject to the accepted norms of morality, decency, and fidelity,” informs Neal. In his article, he traces the transits of Ixion across history to reveal how the kings of old are the political leaders of today, the oligarchs of the Greek legends, and the modern-day billionaires, with their unparalleled levels of privilege. Noting that Ixion’s lore is fundamentally Hadean, Neal reflects on each of the Underworld Lords as such: “Pluto who hollows life out and turns all joy to ash. Orcus, who isolates and imprisons you into a long overdue introspection. Ixion, the most subterranean of all…makes an unendurable torment which you nonetheless must endure.”
Which is not to say this is the fate of everyone with Ixion in their chart, as that would mean literally everyone! No, suffering is merely the “inevitable trajectory of all unenlightened souls,” writes Neal. Asking, how is it that Queen Elizabeth II owns 1/6 of the Earth’s surface while entire populations are displaced? How is it that the daily reality of bombed, oppressed, starved, and ruthlessly exploited human beings is still commonplace? Where is our sense of common humanity amidst all the institutionalized indifference? With Ixion in the sign of Saturn, Neal questions those lawmakers, our leaders, and authorities who wear the face of Saturn in our society, asking, “Where is the tide that raises all boats?”
The last time Ixion crossed the threshold at 0° Capricorn, we had the Great Depression and the 1929 stock market crash. Dust Bowl America left entire swathes of the population destitute as the Great Black Storms of middle America left thousands dead or compromised. Hitler began his reign of power in Germany and Communist China solidified as the globe suffered from economic fallout, ecological crisis, the rise of demagogues, far-right extremism and deadly respiratory diseases. This time, as Ixion once again crossed that fated cardinal line, we are experiencing very much the same thing. Are we willing to learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of our ancestors? Can we expand from me-to-we? Claiming the whole of society as our equal?
Before we get even more specialized, looking at Ixion Rx by house below, let’s recap on the influence of the sign through each element, with astro-insights inspired by Kerykeion:
Ixion in Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Ties morality to the emotional and psychological realms, with violations of trust appearing in the form of spiritual manipulation or the weaponization of empathy. In water, Ixion learns the ethical limits of emotional influence and the necessity of psychological accountability.
Ixion in Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Morality intersects with identity, power and belief. Betrayals manifest as narcissism, abuse of power, and the weaponization of ideology/religion. Learning the ethical limits of ego, Ixion in Fire stresses the importance of each individual’s right to exist.
Ixion in Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Stresses morality of the mind, communication, and society. With shadows manifesting as massive propaganda, broken social contracts or laws, and the misuse of technology, Ixion in Air is discerning the ethical limits of information and the relativity of truth.
If Ixion is that area of life in which we are most tempted to break the rules, where we may betray or experience betrayal, we work with our Ixion by house to crystallize a more unique and integrated moral compass. Through this study, we become more clear around which rules to break, which to follow, and how to transmute furious passion into compassionate action and selfless service. With Ixion in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses, moral reckonings are central to one’s realms of identity, family, partnerships or career. Alternatively, if your natal Ixion were to fall in the 2nd, 5th, 8th or 11th house, Pluto’s lawless brother casts long shadows in the realms of resources, creative output, shared power, sexuality or your role in the community. In the 3rd, 6th, 9th or 12th, Ixion struggles percolate in the background of the mind, infiltrating your thoughts, daily work, belief systems and unconscious.

IXION in the 1st *Binding Cycles*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Beyoncé
With hubris, boundary-pushing, second chances and binding cycles intimately tied to your personal identity and physical presence, you were born to test limits. Is a rebellious streak pushing your mind and body to extremes, regardless of danger or sensible limits? Is a stubborn internal conflict, rashness or self-absorption impacting your physical habits? Notice where you have a tendency to undermine your own personal aims. Slow down to observe how your actions impact your relationships and personal image. Embodying a hyper independent essence, you do what we want, when we want. The more authentic you can be, the more resourceful and adaptable you become. Perhaps early childhood experiences pushed you to develop authenticity, sparking off a significant self-mission. Alternatively, you may have developed defense mechanisms, willfully following your personal desires as a form of self-protection, which led to rule-breaking and banishment. Just as Zeus pardoned the mythological Ixion, perhaps you frequently find yourself receiving second chances after major missteps. Life lessons often require you to learn to appreciate the benefactors or circumstances that save you. As you evolve, this placement enables an independent spiritual investigation. Granting you a unique sense of self, as long as you retain awareness of the social fabric within which that uniqueness is embedded, you are capable of catalyzing great change. As you learn to follow your spiritual bliss, fiery vitality infuses your life and work.

IXION in the 2nd *Redefining Value*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Marilyn Monroe
In the 2nd house, Ixion’s boundary-tester, seeker of second chances and rule-breaker archetype is expressed through your relationship with money, resources, values and self-worth. Built with the resilience to navigate an unconventional financial path, this placement favors self-employment or alternative income streams. The more authentic your relationship with wealth, the stronger your self-worth becomes and the more deeply you embody your values. Initially, you may play fast and loose with resources, seduced by pleasure or the promise of get-rich-quick schemes. This can show up as neglected bills, cutting financial corners, deception, or entitlement. At its highest expression, 2nd house Ixion can generate remarkable prosperity through wholehearted devotion to your unique gifts. The more generous and aligned you are, the more success flows. An instinctive understanding of how to create tangible change from within inspires an independent, practical approach to work. Your unorthodox philosophy and unapologetically direct style naturally cultivate intrigue, helping your work reach those who need it most. Not meant to follow the culturally approved script for acquiring wealth—you’re here to redefine what true security means.
Refining your moral compass around material power, you crave self-generated resources and financial freedom above all else. Knowing that money is energy, you’re willing to take calculated risks. You may become a visionary entrepreneur who disrupts an entire industry simply by refusing to play by outdated rules. Ensure your material ambitions remain rooted in a deeply personal code of ethics. Notice where unconscious beliefs around entitlement, void of effort, surface. Breaking the rules doesn’t require breaking trust. Reckless spending and highly speculative investments only lead to chronic financial instability. When risks don’t pay off, do you take accountability or blame the system? Caught up in cycles of boom and bust, or building lasting self-worth? With maturity, 2nd house Ixion becomes an ethical pioneer, creating innovative income streams that honor both authenticity and integrity. As you rebuild your relationship with resources, become a living example that abundance and integrity can thrive together.

IXION in the 3rd *Provoke Me*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Lauryn Hill
In the 3rd house arena of the mind, media, communication and siblings, your local environment becomes the stage upon which you test boundaries, break rules and seek intellectual dominion. The ultimate free-thinker, no one is going to tell you what to think or believe. A trickster whose words test the structural integrity of other people’s beliefs, you will likely play a hand in changing predominant thought in some way. You may appear to know things in advance of others, but by the time everyone catches up, you’re on to something else, leaving your contributions underestimated or overlooked. Sometimes this placement brings undesirables into our lives in the form of neighbors, siblings, or others who push us to develop our freethinking approach. Perhaps you get caught in mental loops or engage in gossip or trash-talking. There may be willful righteousness in your communications with others, which alienates you and turns them into enemies. Recognizing that all communication is a valuable learning process, you’re a sharp thinker and fascinating conversationalist in pursuit of independent thought. Employing dark humor, intense sarcasm, or shocking honesty to force people out of their comfort zones, you’re suffocated by censorship of any kind.
Constantly testing conversational limits, you have to know exactly where the line is and step right over it. Has your mind become a chaotic, arrogant weapon? Debating your teachers at school. Shattering unspoken rules at home. Is your communication style aggressive, offensive, or troll-like? Disrespect won’t prove intellectual dominance. Are you playing devil’s advocate to the point of cruelty – alienating siblings, neighbors, or peers because you refuse to apologize when your words cause genuine friction? Honest, or cruel? Embrace accountability in your speech, finding the perfect medium to express your potent noise. Your evolution isn’t about becoming quieter—it’s about becoming more intentional. Challenging outdated narratives and exposing hypocrisy, holding space for the most complex, difficult conversations, you give language to what others can’t yet name. The lesson of Ixion is simple: the same conversations will return until you learn to wield your voice with both courage and care. Once your words are guided by integrity instead of ego, they become catalysts for healing, liberation and collective awakening. Using your voice to advocate for those who have been silenced, your greatest rebellion isn’t proving you’re the smartest person in the room—it’s becoming the one who creates space for deeper truth, radical empathy, and meaningful change.
Rx: Freaks of Nature
A brilliant and restless provocateur, your mind naturally gravitates toward what is controversial, taboo or off-limits. With Ixion’s seeker consciousness enabling you to follow your bliss into potentially esoteric or outlandish avenues, your Rx is called Freaks of Nature. Inspired by nature and created for outdoorsy types, the performance-driven skincare brand is known for its clean, science-backed innovations that promote microbiome health and protect against environmental stressors such as UV exposure, wind, heat, sweat, pollution and saltwater. With reef-safe formulations at the frontier of sustainable biotechnology and environmentally responsible packaging that recycles ocean-bound plastics, Freaks of Nature is on a mission to ‘protect every surface of those who go deep.’ Helping you ‘go harder for longer,’ advancements in biomimicry and biotechnology led to the brand’s recent launch of barrier-supporting mineral sunscreens. A lightweight, matte-sunscreen powered by non-nano zinc oxide, Solar Shield SPF 30 Full-body Mineral Protection delivers broad-spectrum protection without chemical filters. Botanical additives like ultra-soothing aloe, free radical-fighting green tea, and skin-identical jojoba make this aerosol-free mist highly effective and easy to use. Sprays on for easy application with no heavy residue or chalky cast.

IXION in the 4th *Ancestral Outlaw*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Shirin Neshat
The ultimate boundary-tester and rule-breaker dives deep into the subterranean waters of one’s roots, ancestry, early childhood conditioning and emotional security. Provocative early childhood experiences have pushed you to develop spiritual authenticity, making your personal story at once triumphant and archetypal. You reincarnated to create a home based on chosen values, absolute honesty and forgiveness. Refusing to blindly accept the traditions, unspoken family secrets, or domestic rules handed down to you, you test the limits of the family structure and redefine ‘home.’ In the most private part of the chart, Ixion’s rule-breaking happens within the deepest layers of your psyche. Perhaps you were the ‘black sheep’ of the family, acutely aware of your lineage’s hypocrisies and restrictive moral codes. While breaking generational patterns is not without intense domestic friction, it ultimately provides a radical emotional sanctuary free from inherited guilt and obligation.
Treat your home like the sacred sanctuary it is. Hospitality, or the absence of it, will be central to both your birth home and the home you create as an adult. Domestic pressures and experiences push you to develop an independent psychic foundation. The more authentic you are, the more emotional security you have. Often, 4th house Ixion manifests as chronic emotional turbulence or domestic self-sabotage. One may unconsciously recreate childhood boundary violations or act out with extreme entitlement toward family members. Perhaps you have ongoing resentment toward your roots, using rebellion as an excuse to avoid the consequences of emotional immaturity. Do you play the role of the rebel of the family, even when it no longer serves? Fighting a war against parents or ancestors who no longer hold any real power over your life? Distancing yourself from your geographic or familial roots to establish your autonomy may be necessary. Alternatively, one might remain close but constantly provoke the family structure, acting out the repressed, transgressive urges of the entire lineage. Guests, family members or other undesirables may come into your life to push you to develop independence. To the degree that you fail to own your inner bad gal, you will experience Ixion’s energy in projected form. As you work through your karmic baggage, your domestic life can become an inspirational public example that earns you respect and support. The highest expression looks like an architect of a new emotional lineage, creating a sanctuary for generations to come.
Rx: G.I. Detox+
Using Ixion’s disruptive energy consciously to cut through toxic generational cycles, you reincarnated to cultivate an unshakeable inner foundation. When ongoing resentments or undigested emotions linger, they often manifest physically as gut imbalances. As you slowly break free of inherited family trauma, make a clean sweep of it all with the G.I. Detox+® system by Biocidin. With broad-acting binding activity designed to assist in the ‘mop up’ of microbial and biofilm components, the premier all-in-one supplement supports healthy full-body cleansing and detox. IXION in the 5th *Creative Outlaw*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Blue Ivy Carter
5th house Ixion themes show up in the realms of creativity, parenting, romance and pleasure. Approaching artistic and creative endeavors with immense passion, at times, your pursuit of pleasure, play and speculation overrides common sense. Jekyll-and-Hyde creative dynamics lead to brilliant breakthroughs or disastrous, ego-driven failures. With an inherently transgressive creative process, karma often catches up with you later. Exploring the darker facets of human nature with boundary-pushing charisma, one may deliberately mock the arbitrary rules of the establishment. Breaking rules with intention makes you an innovator; breaking them blindly makes you a liability. An archetypal subversive artist, you understand that true creation often requires stepping over the line. Seeking a romantic spark that has the thrill of the forbidden or the edge of profound risk, you’re an unapologetic lover, an irresistible outlaw. With passionate, unconventional connections that break societal norms, traditional dating rules feel absurd. Drawn to intense, rule-breaking, taboo relationships, there is a heightened risk of repeating past relationship mistakes. Mastering the balance between creative brilliance and destructive arrogance, the mature expression of this energy is nothing less than awe-inspiring. Harness transgressive energy to direct it into masterful, revolutionary creations that shift the paradigm.

I like to pour the fruity blend into an ice cube tray and make mini-popsicles I can munch on all day long.

IXION in the 6th *Invincible Vessel or Rested & Protected?*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: North West
In the 6th, Ixion themes show up in the rhythms of daily life, approach to work, habits and physical health. Viewing routine as a prison? Acting out or engaging in chronic insubordination at work? With a need for absolute autonomy, it’s hard for you to tolerate work environments that rely on arbitrary rules. At times, generative friction with external authorities helps you reclaim your freedom. At the unconscious level, you may rebel against the pressure to conform in your work routine or job. Attempts to follow an individual routine can be a reactive process of cutting corners and bending the rules. With an acute radar for the absurdities of corporate culture, you’re a disruptor in the workplace. Whether blatantly ignoring the dress code, questioning the CEO’s logic or completely abandoning the 9-to-5 model, you test the system. Infuriatingly arrogant or brilliantly innovative, distinguish what type of rule-breaking improves the workflow and which creates chaos. Cultivating fierce integrity and becoming an advocate in the workplace, dismantling oppressive labor practices and pointless bureaucracy.
Once you’re firmly on the spiritual path, you learn to develop rituals and engage in voluntary work rooted in passion. At this evolved level, the more authentic you become, the more strength and vitality you feel. Every moment is a chance to be imperfectly perfect. Prone to push your body to extremes— does unconscious hubris have you thinking you’re immune to physical breakdown? The body is not a machine that can be hacked indefinitely. Once you hit that wall, Ixion forces a massive, humbling reset of your habits. When you act from this place of awareness and authenticity, you connect with the divine. Perhaps taking a more holistic and personalized wellness approach enables you to design an out-of-the-box wellness offering to guide others on an inspired service mission. Key takeaway: develop a profound respect for your somatic limits to cultivate a daily routine that is both original and responsible.
Rx: Drytek by Delilah

IXION in the 7th *Own Your Transgressions*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Coco Chanel
With Ixion in the 7th, your boundary-tester and rule-breaker is experienced primarily through one-on-one relationships, committed partnerships and open confrontations. You probably cannot tolerate relationships built on ‘shoulds’ or rigid, traditional contracts. With a keen radar for the unspoken rules of partnership, you instinctively push against them to see what is real and what is merely performative. A provocateur in partnership, you may unconsciously seek ‘outlaws’ in love—people who live on the fringes, challenge authority, or have a checkered past. At the unconscious level, you may feel like the victim, caught up in contract loopholes or actively trying to exploit others’ blind spots. Perhaps you must take legal action to maintain balance in relationship, or find yourself in partnership with shady characters or with people who deny you freedom. With passionate one-on-one relationships that run outside the bounds of social norms, love affairs bolster seeker consciousness.
Constantly testing the boundaries of commitment, you demand absolute authenticity, whether messy, transgressive, or socially awkward. Requiring your relationships to offer unabashed freedom and truth, white lies, censorship, or a strict adherence to traditional gender or marital roles will trigger rebellion! Perhaps you experience tumultuous, unstable romance characterized by repeated betrayals or chronic self-sabotage. Are you building connections only to detonate them through hubris or a refusal to honor basic agreements? Are you attracting partners who are unreliable or unethical, playing the role of the endless forgiver until you are completely drained? Forced to confront the archetype of the ‘rule-breaker’ in partnership, only you can decide which boundary violations are truly red flags. Withdraw all projections, owning that rule-breaking energy you seek (or fear) in partners from within. Once you learn to channel the transgressive forces constructively, writing your own vows and fiercely honoring them, you create partnerships built on radical honesty. Honor your capacity to love someone while acknowledging their deepest flaws and failures.
In maturity, you’d better discern where to bend the rules in your negotiations, where to exploit loopholes in agreements. At the spiritually evolved level, deep empathy with your partner fuels your work life. Blessing each relationship with a righteous focus and a playful irreverence to social norms, relationships anchor you into higher leadership and confidence. Whether working alongside your partner, transmuting base emotions into missionary mojo, or straight out wedded to your work, you’re supremely devoted to your calling.
Rx: World Water Prayer
With little distinction between ‘desires’ and ‘needs,’ 7th house energy lives to please, to appear, to dance with the mirrors of intimacy! Learning to be more diplomatic and cooperative without sacrificing integrity helps you live passionately. On August 8th, you’re invited to deepen your relationship to all that is with a World Water Prayer in solidarity with the September 19th-October 4th Women’s Water Walk to stop the Constitution Pipeline, a fracked gas mega pipeline proposed in New York and Pennsylvania. As communities around the world face increasing threats from pipelines, data centers, mining and fossil fuel extraction, the movement for prayerful action to protect our water is growing.
Standing behind women as the life-givers, Women’s Water Walk is for future generations and their right to a livable future. Join the group as they walk, sing, and pray through the towns along the proposed pipeline route. Rejected in 2016 by New York State as a danger to our water, the pipeline has returned to line the pockets of big corporations – what is proposed to cut through 125 miles of wild rivers and forests in New York and Pennsylvania, providing a corridor for AI data centers – along with fracked-gas power plants, deafening compressor stations, and acid rain that will destroy our way of life and the health of our ecosystems. Join a moment rooted in love, prayer, and positive action. At the end of each day of prayer, Women’s Water Walk hosts a gathering to share and discuss community solutions.

IXION in the 8th *Spinning Wheel of Fire*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Rihanna
In the 8th house, Ixion themes show up in the realm of shared resources, gratitude or ungratefulness, intimacy, betrayal and transformation. In the house of the occult, Ixion grants hyper-sensitivity to the spirit world. With an incredibly unique take on the mysteries of existence, you reincarnated to see beneath the relationship drama and dial in how you can more successfully follow your bliss. Often fueled by a passionate desire to fulfill your base emotional needs, you sometimes have little regard for the effect this has on your relationships. Perhaps you use or are used by others solely for pleasure. As you develop spiritually, seeker consciousness helps you engage in self-transformation. Perhaps you take a passionate interest in esoteric matters, clearing away old karma and learning from your mistakes. Adopting a playful approach to some of life’s most weighty issues, authenticity brings freedom and regeneration to your life. In the house of debt and judgment, it’s crucial you learn from your mistakes in the petty dramas of life. Highlighting the joint resources you share with others, the 8th rules death, rebirth, intimacy, shared resources, sex and psychological shadows. With Ixion here, you may encounter intense power dynamics or hidden betrayals. Notice where you squander transformative opportunities in relationships, finances, or psychological growth, leading to recurring karmic cycles. Like Pluto (natural ruler of the 8th house), Ixion pushes you to transform. Learning lessons around trust and transformation, be mindful when embarking on shared endeavors. Following your bliss through cycles of death and rebirth, psychic openness blesses you with enough clairvoyance to evolve in the flow of life, rather than against it. Perhaps you engage in cross-fertilization of spiritual approaches, authoring a new and independent spiritual modality.
Rx: Dragon Fruit Citrus Elixir
Not one to reach for low-hanging fruit, there’s a reason they correlate the 8th house of death and rebirth with dragons, snakes, serpents, scorpions and sometimes lizards. And in the name of truth and transformation, your Rx is from Twisted Alchemy, purveyor of fresh-squeezed brilliance! IXION in the 9th *Defiance of Dogma or God Complex?*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Sophia Loren
In the 9th house, Ixion undergoes a passionate path of exploration. Searching for higher meaning in topics close to the heart, you naturally discern when to play by the rules and when not to (because they don’t make sense and need to be changed). Your seeker consciousness is developed by charting your own course through more traditional spiritual belief systems, taking or leaving what works within them as needed. Perhaps along the journey, you write, talk, teach or lead others. As you evolve, this placement helps you follow your spiritual bliss and embark on a more expansive path. Perhaps you experience dreams or visions seemingly motivated by disruptive events in your life, which encourage greater personal integrity and authenticity. Once you find your way, your life vision inspires many others. At the highest level, you develop a wise understanding born of authenticity, which enables you to manifest with ease. As you come to view failure or setbacks as learning opportunities, second chances are maximized. Uniquely ‘far out’ thinking, coupled with an ability to communicate your unique perspective, ultimately carves you out as a thought leader spreading your message via publishing, broadcast media, social media, teaching, or preaching.
Ixion in the 9th often suggests trust issues, transgressions, or simply a defiant attitude that manifests in the realm of traditional belief systems, law, or higher education. Questioning rigid religious or educational structures, you seek your own ‘truth’ outside of the mainstream and challenge established social norms. In the expansive 9th house, Ixion learns through intense, sometimes painful, trial and error when dealing with the laws of life. Perhaps with your embrace of unconventional philosophies come challenges and ethical lapses involving legal matters, foreign affairs, or academic integrity. At the unconscious level, one may attempt to bend the rules to one’s own advantage, or become to emotionally invested in a personal passion, and as a result, cut corners. Perhaps you proceed without authorization or act illegally, because you feel the end justifies the means. Does intellectual hubris have you ‘second-guessing’ mentors or gurus? Don’t let higher wisdom become a ‘God complex.’ Radical journeys, long-distance travel or interactions with foreign cultures often serve as catalysts for deep, disruptive transformation. When exploring belief systems and culture, be sure to carefully navigate ethical considerations.
Rx: Elephant Green Chili Chutney
In the house of travel and cultural sharing, your Rx is the most vital, most mouth-watering chutney by Elephant Green. Officially the 2026 sofi™ Gold Award Finalist, Elephant Green Chili Chutney is as delicious as it is versatile. So much more than your average green sauce, this 100% natural condiment is all pure handcrafted goodness. Each nutrient and antioxidant-rich ingredient – spicy green chilies, fresh cilantro, coconut, a touch of sugar, vinegar, and salt – is chosen with care, striking a delicate balance of heat, herbaceous freshness, and tangy depth. A naturally vegan and gluten-free recipe, the naturally detoxifying properties of cilantro and the sweet aroma of coconut make this slightly spicy side fragrant and unmistakably alive.

Coconut lends a smooth richness that softens the heat and gives the chutney a creamy body, while the sugar and vinegar strike a sharp-sweet contrast that makes the flavor pop. Fiery enough to excite hot sauce lovers, but nuanced enough to pair beautifully with cheese boards, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, sandwiches, eggs or avocado toast. A natural companion to global and modern American cuisine with massive cross-cultural appeal, from the vibrant color to the bold taste, this condiment has personality in spades, just like 9th house Ixion! Ideal for drizzling, dipping, spreading, or cooking, generously layer on the green chili sharpness, and bon appetite! Locally produced, vegan, and plant-based, it not only offers the perfect balance of heat and depth but also has no added fillers or preservatives, which makes Elephant Green Chili Chutney pass the chef’s test with flying colors.

IXION in the 10th *Industry Disruptor*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Eartha Kitt
With Ixion rearing his ugly head in the realm of career/public image, you require absolute professional autonomy and the freedom to define your own success. With you, boundary-tester broadcasting on the public stage, you are likely to feel as though you don’t fit into the given society, and will need to make your own lane. With public life characterized by audacity and fierce independence, you’re an industry disruptor defined by massive risks, spectacular falls, and awe-inspiring comebacks. Carrying the authority of an outlaw (rather than a King), with Ixion in the 10th, any leadership short on authenticity is sure to be undermined. Have you claimed your visionary status, or have you become content with playing the habitual troublemaker? Creating a unique social position that grants you the freedom to be yourself happens over time. Learn to wield public power without destroying your reputation entirely. When chronic professional instability grows tiring, decide which bridges are truly worth burning. Unconscious Ixion builds an image only to spectacularly detonate it ala entitlement or scandal! Expect several ‘professional resets,’ whether you got fired or abruptly quit. Learning to harness transgressive energy effectively makes you a fiercely independent leader. Once you take full accountability, you’re ripe to rebuild your career on a foundation of unshakeable integrity, becoming a solid advocate for systemic change.
Holding authority accountable with unwavering courage, you’re NOT one to compliantly climb the corporate ladder. Careers requiring rigid conformity to a bureaucratic system feel like a prison you must escape. Acute awareness of bureaucratic stagnation, hypocritical leadership and arbitrary corporate laws causes frequent clashes with bosses. Refusing to offer authority figures blind respect, you’d rather build an empire playing entirely by your own rule book. At its highest expression, this placement can help you become a leader in your chosen field. Approaching work with reverence, one may become a seminal influencer, charting one’s own course and inspiring others in the process.
Rx: Dance Pant
Understanding that true legacy is not built following orders, your Ixion is in a lofty position of calculated (sometimes uncalculated) defiance. Very much a catalyst for the development of social norms, as you deepen your commitment to the spiritual path, the sky’s the limit! IXION in the 11th *Unapologetic Maverick*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Portia di Rossi
Passionate hopes and ambitions inspire you to follow your heart. In the house of collective consciousness, you value community and aim to play your unique role it. In the 11th house, Ixion rears his ugly head in the realm of friendships, social networks, community organizations and future-vision. A boundary-tester, rule-breaker, and seeker of second chances dedicated to collective aims, your relationship to the group dynamic is inherently transgressive. Navigating the tension between your own unwieldy nature and the need for cohesive community, notice where you’ve become the habitual disruptor, whether betraying trust or refusing to take accountability. Always attuned to the human weather pattern around you, you accurately sense what is permitted within any given community, and what is not. At the unconscious level, you may play fast and loose with social expectations. Perhaps you fluctuate between extreme involvement and sudden, scandalous exits. Are you expecting endless 2nd chances while offering zero loyalty in return? Consider that constant boundary-testing exhausts allies. Learn the difference between authentic rebellion and rigid entitlement to avoid isolation.
Once firmly on the spiritual path, passion infuses you with willful independence. In the house of self-realization, Ixion’s seeker consciousness develops via explorations that garner both support and controversy. The more charitable you can be in your social interactions, the more you thrive. At the highest level, you become a visionary community builder and a fierce advocate for the marginalized. With networks built on radical honesty, your future vision involves cultivating communities capable of handling the messy, transgressive reality of human failure. While it’s impossible for you to blend in or passively accept consensus reality, avoid becoming the disruptive element that tears the community apart. Always testing limits, you reincarnated to expose unspoken hypocrisies and performative ethics. Like a social outlaw bringing taboo subjects to light, you naturally push against ‘cancel culture’ dynamics, instinctively believing everyone deserves redemption. Recognizing that true revolution requires an ethical foundation, use your piercing insight to help organizations evolve beyond rigid groupthink. Check your entitlement, advocate for grace and find your fellow mavericks!
Rx: You and Her Spa
A little-known gem in the heart of Chinatown, if you’re looking for flashy exteriors or posh exclusivity, this is not the spa for you! Tucked away on the 6th floor of the Golden Unicorn Restaurant, You and Her Spa has been in business for over 27 years and counting. Having quietly and humbly served thousands, a full-service approach to skincare and a genuine culture of warmth ensure clients walk out feeling more comfortable in their own skin. Definitely check out the unique array of services, all at fairly reasonable rates and performed by aestheticians with years of experience and tons of heart. Personally, I swear by the Ear Candling and Lymphatic Massage duo, which feels like magic every time. I don’t know if it’s the noisy city, my reliance on earbuds or just stress, but I tend to build up a lot of tension in my throat and ear canals. Although not always repped by the scientific community, Ear Candling is one of those ancient practices that has been around for centuries. My Mom used to do it for me in the living room when I was little. How does it work? The pointed end of the candle is placed in the ear, while the other end is lit on fire. Not only does the scent of melted beeswax take me to my happy place, but there are also usually some calming essential oils involved. Not to mention the targeted lymphatic massage, right where I need it most, around the shoulders, ears and neck. As the warm heat transfers down the cone into the ear, softening earwax and creating a gentle vacuum, it pulls up built-up earwax for removal. In addition to the gentle elimination of excess ear wax leading to an immediately felt increase in overall well-being, Ear Candling is promoted to reduce pain from headaches, improve hearing, and help with vertigo, nausea, sinus infections, colds and sore throats.

IXION in the 12th *Spiritual Outlaw*
Celebrity Doppelgänger: Josephine Baker
Your unique spiritual view inherently smashes orthodoxy. In the 12th house, Ixion themes appear in the realms of the subconscious, spirituality and hidden aspects of the self. Manifesting your shadowy depths constructively via deep meditation, immersive abstract art, or solitary spiritual practices allows you to safely ‘break the rules’ of ordinary reality. Tasked with exploring the most transgressive of waters, the goal is to avoid acting them out destructively. Navigating ethical considerations in your spiritual pursuits, like a psychological sponge for the darker, repressed urges of society, you feel a psychic connection to the outcasts, rule-breakers and sinners of society. Confronting the ‘outlaw’ within, you are learning to grant yourself grace. Are you respecting the implicit agreements in your relationships and asking for forgiveness when you cross the line? Clear unconscious spiritual baggage to create the healthy foundation required for growth.
At the unconscious level, 12th house Ixion can feel like a relentless, hidden enemy. Perhaps you are living so independent an existence that you feel alienated. With Ixion in the house of self-undoing, boundary-testing happens internally. Perhaps you struggle with intense, intrusive thoughts that violate your own moral code, or experience vivid, taboo-breaking dreams. Your deepest need is for a sanctuary where you can safely explore your own psyche without judgment. When moral codes feel suffocating, you hide your edgy thoughts behind a mask of conformity, with escapist tendencies, self-sabotage, secret addictions, or hidden affairs as a result. Perhaps you become plagued by intense guilt, vague paranoia, or a sense of impending doom. Expect to repeatedly confront similar life lessons until you acknowledge and learn from them.
The more you master authenticity, the more you cut through the fog of conformity. Following your bliss becomes an intuitive process that preserves freedom of thought and action. In its highest expression, your seeker consciousness is poised to seed the zeitgeist and change the world. A redeemer with a boundless capacity for empathy, having faced the terrifying shadows within, you are incapable of judging others. A powerful, silent guide for those navigating intense shame, formative pain, or inner crisis – you are here to help the collective find radical forgiveness.
