Kalisha Buckhanon is a small town born-and-raised Midwesterner, big city girl since college at University of Chicago, and Manhattan-made author launched by The New School's M.F.A. program at only age 26. Her celebrated novels are UPSTATE, CONCEPTION, SOLEMN and SPEAKING OF SUMMER. She's been a true crime commentator for BET, ID and TV One as well as inner city teacher, English as a second language instructor and writing professor.
